But Elon Musk previously charged with putting a scythe through government spending began firing shells at Donald Trump's so-called Big Beautiful Bill which will increase America's debt ceiling by up to 5 trillion US-dollars and at his signature tariffs policy. On Thursday U.S.-time Trump finally erupted: Elon was 'wearing thin' … I took away his EV Mandate … and he just went CRAZY! … - Truth Social, @realDonaldTrump, 5 June 2025 The easiest way to save money in our Budget … is to terminate Elon's Governmental Subsidies and Contracts … - Truth Social, @realDonaldTrump, 5 June 2025 Which amounts to $5.5 billion a year. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT! - X, @elonmusk, 5 June 2025 Have a nice day? Musk later rethought this sweet but uncorroborated claim and deleted the tweet. Perhaps most stark about this wee spat was the speed at which we knew what was going on. While the skirmishes that occur inside other governments might only be brought to light by diligent correspondents these blows were being traded on public platforms the combatants both happen to own raising questions about whether these really are social networks or: … when it comes to their mega-rich, mega-wealthy owners … simply megaphones to holler at the world. - Business Insider, 6 June 2025 And at such volume that other consequential world events are for many completely drowned out like the issuing of sanctions by the White House against four judges of the International Criminal Court, a barrage of deadly Russian strikes on Ukraine and China's sale of propellant to Iran for ballistic missiles. Elon Musk and Donald Trump are not just financially wealthy or politically powerful in the internet age they are also influence-rich beyond the wildest dreams of former tycoons and presidents with a direct line to hundreds of millions of people consuming news in snack-size portions. So simply by firing from the hip they can drive the public conversation in any direction they choose sharpening ever more the crisis of relevance engulfing much of the press.

‘Page not found': Brooke Shields podcast interview slamming ‘precious' Meghan Markle mysteriously vanishes

Brooke Shields' recent podcast interview in which she vented about Meghan Markle's 'precious' behavior has been deleted by podcast host India Hicks, it can be revealed. Shields went viral last week after revealing her candid thoughts about the ex-working royal during an episode of Hicks' podcast 'An Unexpected Journey' that was published via Substack. In the now-deleted episode, Shields recalled the time she cut off one of Markle's favourite anecdotes while appearing on stage with the Duchess. The Duchess of Sussex and the Blue Lagoon star were both tapped to sit on a panel marking International Woman's Day at the prestigious South by Southwest Festival last year. During the notorious appearance, Markle referenced the time she wrote a letter to Procter and Gamble as a child asking them to gender-neutralise a dishwashing soap commercial. The story has been repeated multiple times, including during Meghan Markle's Vanity Fair cover story she negotiated after she began dating Prince Harry. 'Meghan said, 'I didn't think only women wash dishes,'' Shields recalled. 'It wasn't fair. So I wrote to the company. And when I was 11, I wrote my first letter and when I was 11...' and she kept saying she was 11!" The entertainment industry veteran sensed that Markle's oft-repeated story about writing letters to a detergent company was hardly riveting for the audience. "It was just too precious," Shields explained to as to why she decided to chime in. "And I was like, they're not going to want to sit here for 45 minutes and listen to anybody be precious or serious.' The Endless Love star explained that she did not intend to be 'rude' to the ex-working royal but wanted to lighten the mood after Markle's earnest story. "Excuse me, I'm so sorry. I've got to interrupt you there for one minute,' she said. "I was trying not to be rude, but I wanted to be funny because it was so serious. "I just want to give everybody here a context as to how we're different," she told the crowd.' The actress then pointed out to Markle how when she was the same age she was playing a prostitute - referring to her controversial role in the 1978 film, Pretty Baby - which drew immediate laughter from the audience. "The place went insane. And then luckily, it was more relaxed after that," Shields said. As of Wednesday, all traces of the podcast have disappeared from Hicks' Substack page, with the previous link now returning a 'page not found' message. The Sussexes employ an extensive team of in-house media advisors who regularly reach out to news outlets and mastheads to respond to publicity about the Duke and Duchess. Among the team, Harry and Meghan employ both Los Angeles and London-based communications executives to handle their media relations in North America and Europe, respectively. The Sussexes recently hired a chief communications officer and a separate director of communications to help manage their public images. Last month, Forbes reported that the Sussexes have beefed up their media team even further and added external firm Method Communications to the line up. is not suggesting that Markle or her team pressured Hicks or Shields to remove the podcast episode, only that the episode has been removed from Hicks' Substack.

Meghan confirmed for upcoming royal clash

IN LONDON Meghan has been confirmed as a guest of honour at a glitzy, black-tie event in Los Angeles as her husband's family steps out for one of the biggest days on the royal calendar. There will once again be a Sussex/royal diary clash on Saturday as the duchess attends the Museum of Natural History's Night of Wonder gala on the same day as Trooping the Colour, the King's official birthday celebrations, take place in London. Meghan will be honoured for her charity work and give a speech at the star-studded event, which is focusing on advancing community wellbeing and increasing opportunities for the disadvantaged. It's not yet been made clear whether Prince Harry will also attend. Meanwhile, the royal family will take part in the annual Trooping parade, which takes place every June, before making an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony for a Royal Air Force fly-past. It's expected that Prince William, Kate, the Princess of Wales, and their three children – Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince George, 6 – will join the King and Queen and other senior royals for the occasion, which draws a crowd of thousands to The Mall. The latest schedule clash comes after Harry popped up in China last month to deliver a keynote speech at a sustainable travel forum on the same day as his father and stepmother's high-profile whistlestop tour of Canada kicked off. It's understood the relationship between the Duke of Sussex and his family are at an all-time-low, with Harry even giving a no-holds-barred interview with the BBC in early May. In it, he revealed the King no longer takes his calls, that he doesn't know 'how long he has left' amid his cancer battle, and then asked his family for 'reconciliation'. Meanwhile, news of Meghan's outing this weekend comes just days after she divided followers with the release of a throwback video in honour of her and Harry's daughter's fourth birthday, which featured the pair of them taking part in a viral TikTok dance challenge in the birthing suite on the day she was born. 'Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due dates … so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work – there was only one thing left to do!' she captioned the video of the couple dancing to the 'Baby Mama Dance Song'.
