‘Page not found': Brooke Shields podcast interview slamming ‘precious' Meghan Markle mysteriously vanishes
Brooke Shields' recent podcast interview in which she vented about Meghan Markle's 'precious' behavior has been deleted by podcast host India Hicks, it can be revealed.
Shields went viral last week after revealing her candid thoughts about the ex-working royal during an episode of Hicks' podcast 'An Unexpected Journey' that was published via Substack.
In the now-deleted episode, Shields recalled the time she cut off one of Markle's favourite anecdotes while appearing on stage with the Duchess.
The Duchess of Sussex and the Blue Lagoon star were both tapped to sit on a panel marking International Woman's Day at the prestigious South by Southwest Festival last year.
During the notorious appearance, Markle referenced the time she wrote a letter to Procter and Gamble as a child asking them to gender-neutralise a dishwashing soap commercial.
The story has been repeated multiple times, including during Meghan Markle's Vanity Fair cover story she negotiated after she began dating Prince Harry.
'Meghan said, 'I didn't think only women wash dishes,'' Shields recalled.
'It wasn't fair. So I wrote to the company. And when I was 11, I wrote my first letter and when I was 11...' and she kept saying she was 11!"
The entertainment industry veteran sensed that Markle's oft-repeated story about writing letters to a detergent company was hardly riveting for the audience.
"It was just too precious," Shields explained to as to why she decided to chime in.
"And I was like, they're not going to want to sit here for 45 minutes and listen to anybody be precious or serious.'
The Endless Love star explained that she did not intend to be 'rude' to the ex-working royal but wanted to lighten the mood after Markle's earnest story.
"Excuse me, I'm so sorry. I've got to interrupt you there for one minute,' she said.
"I was trying not to be rude, but I wanted to be funny because it was so serious.
"I just want to give everybody here a context as to how we're different," she told the crowd.'
The actress then pointed out to Markle how when she was the same age she was playing a prostitute - referring to her controversial role in the 1978 film, Pretty Baby - which drew immediate laughter from the audience.
"The place went insane. And then luckily, it was more relaxed after that," Shields said.
As of Wednesday, all traces of the podcast have disappeared from Hicks' Substack page, with the previous link now returning a 'page not found' message.
The Sussexes employ an extensive team of in-house media advisors who regularly reach out to news outlets and mastheads to respond to publicity about the Duke and Duchess.
Among the team, Harry and Meghan employ both Los Angeles and London-based communications executives to handle their media relations in North America and Europe, respectively.
The Sussexes recently hired a chief communications officer and a separate director of communications to help manage their public images.
Last month, Forbes reported that the Sussexes have beefed up their media team even further and added external firm Method Communications to the line up.
SkyNews.com.au is not suggesting that Markle or her team pressured Hicks or Shields to remove the podcast episode, only that the episode has been removed from Hicks' Substack.

‘Right choice': Meghan Markle's planned public appearance at Natural History Museum cancelled amid Los Angeles riots
A glitzy gala where Meghan Markle was set to receive a humanitarian award for her work helping 'underserved communities' has been cancelled amid the ongoing Los Angeles riots. Parts of Los Angeles are now locked down after an emergency was declared in a bid to stop the violence and looting from the ongoing immigration protests, which have spread to major cities in other parts of the United States. The Duchess of Sussex was pencilled in to attend the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County's Night of Wonder gala on Saturday. Markle, 43, was set to take the stage and accept an honour for work championing "undeserved communities'. It is understood the ex-working royal was also due to give a speech at the gala. On Wednesday, it was confirmed the entire event has now been postponed indefinitely due to ongoing rioting mere blocks away in downtown Los Angeles. In an email sent out to attendees, the museum's Chief Advancement Officer Paul Bessire said gala organisers had put the kibosh on the entire black tie affair. 'Los Angeles is experiencing a challenging moment, and our responsibility is clear: to serve as a community resource focused on healing and unity, not celebration,' Mr Bessire wrote. 'During challenging times, our role is to support our neighbors and demonstrate the values that make our city and County strong. 'Our Board of Trustees, and all event partners unanimously support this decision. 'We believe this is the right choice for our community and aligns with our shared commitment to serving all Angelenos. 'We will find a future moment to celebrate our work. 'Until then, we will channel our energy towards being welcoming spaces for learning and discovery for everyone who walks through our doors.' The event was planned for the exact same day as the Trooping the Colour celebrations marking King Charles' official birthday in London. The annual celebrations, and the iconic Buckingham Palace balcony appearance, now serve as a stark reminder of the Sussexes' ongoing estrangement from the royal family.

‘The VIP lane with extra bells on': Prince Harry and Meghan Markle given royal treatment during family trip to Disneyland
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly given the full 'VIP' treatment during a recent family trip to Disneyland to mark Princess Lilibet's fourth birthday. On Friday, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, uploaded a new Instagram post that included special moments from the family's two day visit to the original Disneyland park in Anaheim. In the clip, the Sussex family were seen riding Splash Mountain and visiting Sleeping Beauty's Castle, Star Tours – the Adventures Continue and other iconic rides. Lilibet, who is currently seventh in line to the British throne, was also gifted an extravagant Little Mermaid-themed birthday cake. Markle, who has now been out of the royal family for twice as long as she was inside the firm, obligingly thanked Disney publicly for 'giving' the Sussexes 'pure joy'. 'Thank you @disneyland for giving our family two days of pure joy,' she wrote. According to royal commentator Rupert Bell, the Sussexes were in "the VIP lane with extra bells on" during the visit. 'There didn't seem to any other members of the public while they were there,' he told TalkTV on Sunday. 'They definitely were walking around with a photographer.' The passes presumably allowed the Sussexes to skip to the front of queues for popular rides and utilise underground tunnels to discreetly move through the crowded theme park. The Sussexes have maintained a friendly relationship with Disney ever since Harry was infamously heard on a hot mic asking Disney CEO Bob Iger about a voiceover role for his wife at the Lion King premiere back in 2019. Months later, Markle narrated a Disney+ documentary titled Elephant, but later clarified she took no payment for the role and did the gig for charity. The extravagant trip on Disney's dime comes just months after reports Prince William was concerned about Markle's flagrant use of her HRH title despite agreeing not to mix the title with her commercial ventures. Since leaving royal duties, the Sussexes have banked over $100 million USD through partnership deals with Netflix, Spotify and the proceeds of Harry's memoir Spare.
