Celtic-bound Yamada in emotional Kawasaki farewell message

Yamada said his goodbyes to Kawasaki after their penalty shootout loss to third-tier outfit SC Sagamihara in the cup earlier today.
"When I played against Kashima Antlers (on July 6), it had already been decided," he told local media.
Read more:
"Yes (I was emotional), Taiki (Yamada) was there too, and players came to see me too. It had already been decided at that time.
"I feel like I've become more emotional! I definitely feel like I cry more easily.
"Today was a game, however, so I had mixed emotions. I was a bit embarrassed to be speaking in front of everyone there, so the tears didn't come."
Yamada continued: "When I joined Kawasaki Frontale, I had a desire to go overseas. I thought that if I didn't make that decision, I wouldn't be able to get any closer to my goal of participating in the World Cup and winning it in Japan. So that's the decision I came to.
"Of course, there are a lot of things that happen... I was hesitant... But I had no doubts about going (to Celtic)."
Yamada has scored just four goals for Kawasaki in all competitions this year, although in 2024, he found the net 22 times.
Celtic will be hoping he can rediscover his shooting boots once he makes the move to Parkhead.

New Rangers head coach Russell Martin has been told he has to go toe-to-toe with Celtic in this season's Premiership title race - even if that is unfair given the club's bitter Old Firm rivals 'have so many advantages'. Martin has taken over as the permanent successor to Philippe Clement at Ibrox and is overseeing another major overhaul of the Rangers squad ahead of the domestic season starting early next month. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Celtic have been the dominant force in Scottish football of late and are ahead of Rangers on and off the pitch. And former Scotland internationalist Pat Nevin - now a respected football pundit - believes the only way Martin can curry favour with the Govan fanbase is if he can match Celtic right until the end of the season. Rangers head coach Russell Martin. | SNS Group 'Rangers have got to be winning the league,' said Nevin. 'It is so unfair. Celtic have got so many advantages. They've been in the Champions League for so long. They've got so much more money behind them. They have got that base with the good managers that they've had with Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou before it. They have got so many more advantages. 'Rangers, they're a big club. They're obviously financially better off than any other club in Scotland apart from Celtic. But you're asking so much. They've come back from a long way down, we all know that. But for Russell, in my eyes, if you challenge for the title right up to the end, well done, you deserve another year, mate. Well done. 'Whether the Rangers fans will put up with that, I don't know. But in my eyes that should be good enough to let them build for a couple of years. That's what I think. But that's just not what it's like up here, I'm afraid. It's just not what it is. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'Astonishing amount of change at Rangers' 'There has been an astonishing amount of change at Rangers. Not just the manager, but the moves out. Rangers fans' heads must have been spinning. Really, Leon Balogun and Tom Lawrence, Ianis Hagi and Vaclav Cerny all going. These are players that were playing all the time - gone. 'But they brought a whole bunch of players in as well. Lyall Cameron's come in as well, which is a very interesting one actually. Down south you go, really? Is he that all? Up here that can make a difference. That can make a big difference. So, it's interesting.' Rangers head coach Russell Martin with James Tavernier. | SNS Group 'Am I thinking Rangers are going to win the title? No, not yet. Because Celtic have got so many advantages over Rangers at the moment. But Russell, what will be intriguing and the thing I'm most interested in is the style. 'Russell's played a certain style which is lovely as long as you're winning. And then you're not winning, fans get very, very, very angry about it. And Rangers fans will get angry very quickly if it's not winning.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Nevin added in an interview with 'They'll get really angry with that system because it looks dull and it looks predictable. But it's very considered. We all know what it is. We've watched it. It didn't work in the Premier League but it did work before.

Nathan Aspinall wants huge change to darts calendar including Ryder Cup-style tournament as he pitches incredible format

It would inject a fresh surge of excitement into the sport DART OF WAR Nathan Aspinall wants huge change to darts calendar including Ryder Cup-style tournament as he pitches incredible format Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) NATHAN ASPINALL has dropped a bombshell proposal to add a Ryder Cup-style tournament to the ever-growing darts calendar. Aspinall, 34, made a bold pitch to the PDC as he spoke of his desire to launch a new darts event that is similar to golf's cross Atlantic competition between Europe and the United States. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Nathan Aspinall has called for a rule change that could have seen him unable to compete Speaking to Footy Accumulators, the world No.7 said: 'One change I would make is having a Ryder Cup-style tournament. You could do the UK against the rest of the world. 'You've got all the Dutch players, all the Germans, the likes of Damon Heta and people like that. 'You could do triples, pairs, and singles matches, it would be mega for players and fans. 'If you did it somewhere like in the centre of Germany, and change every year, you could probably sell a 30,000 seater stadium comfortably, and it would create some atmosphere. Luke Littler and Luke Humphries, even though they're mates, they didn't gel at the World Cup, which is why they didn't get far. 'You saw with Josh Rock and Darryl Gurney, and Gerwyn Price and Johnny Clayton, they clearly did gel, and that's why they made the finals. 'The only issue is that there is that much going on in darts at the moment, I think the PDC is going to leave it as it is for now. You never know, in the future it might be something that they look into.' Aspinall has made over £2.2million from darts over the years, winning the World Matchplay in 2023 and landing the spoils in the UK Open in 2019. CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS The two-time World Championship semi-finalist has also become a Premier League regular. But 'The Asp' also confessed how he no longer enjoys darts all that much, seeing it as simply a job. Darts legend Bobby George sends stark message to Luke Littler as he warns sensation he can 'go from hero to zero quick' Aspinall said: 'I'm not a big darts fan anymore. I don't sit at home when I'm not playing and watch it. 'I didn't watch the World Cup, for example. If I'm out of the tournament, I won't go back to my house and see who wins. 'I treat it as my job now, and I'm here to make as much money as I can Aspinall 'Everyone thinks it's all roses and you travel to these amazing places, which we do, but it's very lonely. 'I spent five days in New York on my own and was so bored. I'm missing a wedding next month because I'm in Keel, so I'll miss a lot of family time and key events. But I'm the one who has to make the sacrifices so my family can have a good life. 'I treat it as my job now, and I'm here to make as much money as I can. It's about giving my family the best life I can, which basically means I do it for the money. 'I want to win trophies and win titles, but first and foremost, I want to win as much money as I can so my family can have a great life, that's my main drive and my motivation. 'If you're treating it as a passion and as a hobby, I don't think there's any pressure on you to win because you're just enjoying yourself, so it's harder for me. I don't like losing, and I know that if I turn up to work and don't perform, I'm not making any money, so there's big pressure.'

Cursed Rangers conspiracy sends Hotline spiralling as gloating Celtic fans jump on Hoops hype train early

Andy Newport manned the phoned with the countdown on to the first competitive game of the Russell Martin era We're into the final countdown to Russell Martin's big Rangers launch date. ‌ But will the new-look Light Blues be ready to blast off when Panathinaikos jet into Glasgow for Tuesday's multi million pound Champions League qualifier? ‌ Scott Gowers, Edinburgh, isn't so sure, saying: 'Let's hope for the coefficient that all Scottish clubs can reach the best leagues they can in Europe but I think my club Rangers are really up against it. ‌ 'We face a very strong Panathinaikos team having had only one proper friendly, which took place before any of the new signings were on board. 'In fact, Martin had so few options he had to start Robin Propper. There remains a desperate need to improve the strike force. In my opinion Rangers simply aren't ready for such a tricky tie.' Lewis Fotheringham, Mount Ellen, is concerned by the news that new recruit Thelo Aasgaard is a massive injury doubt for the clash with the Greeks: 'With Aasgaard now joining Cyriel Dessers on the treatment table, it appears our injury curse has re-appeared. ‌ "I do worry that this will affect our consistency when trying to reach the Champions League and also dethrone Celtic. Different season, different manager, same old problems for Rangers.' Butterflies might be flapping in blue stomachs but it is confidence that is soaring amongst the Celtic legions. Charles Maxwell watched his side beat Sporting Lisbon 2-0 in Lisbon this week and said: 'Have to say, I really enjoyed the show Celtic put on in the Algarve on Wednesday. ‌ 'It looks like we're getting our act together. Even after the interval when Celtic went through the full cast and crew, the performance levels never dropped for a second. 'But, it's not the theatre you're playing that determines how good you are. It's the players you train with day in day out that make it possible to play on the big stage. 'And, with one or two more stars set to arrive before opening night, it already looks like curtains for the bit part players and tribute acts.' ‌ Sean McGarvey, Cumbernauld, added: 'I see the desperate mob are now having digs at Brendan Rodgers' track record. Jealousy is an ugly trait. "They've gone from Mourinho to Martin and need to give it a rest. I cannot wait till we get a hold of them and destroy the false bravado, just like every single season since they were formed in 2012. ‌ 'Apart from that one season, we'd be on 15 in a row. It's comical.' But Rangers fan Alec Morrison, Musselburgh, isn't impressed by what he's seen from Rodgers' team so far. He said: 'The Celtic lads on here keep saying we are buying English League One players but that's because that is Scotland's equivalent. ‌ 'Celtic, though, have proven the signing of expensive recruits means nowt. They splurged £20million for Adam Idah and Arne Engels. "Meanwhile, we got Hamza Igamane, Nico Raskin, Cyriel Dessers and Mohamed Diomande for just over half that. Pipe doon and wait till the new season has started.' Alan Flett said: 'The reason why Celtic are criticised for their transfer dealings is because, unlike Rangers, they have got serious money to spend, but they choose to shop in the bargain basement. 'Both Rangers and Celtic have been hopeless for years. We've never fully recovered from our demise in 2012 but what's Celtic's excuse? "If the boot had been on the other foot, Rangers would have made sure that Celtic never got anywhere near them, ever again.'
