Major supermarket reduces bags of vegetables to just 8p ahead of Easter
In time for the bank holiday weekend, one major UK supermarket has announced that they will be reducing the price on some bags of vegetables from Monday 14 to Sunday 20.
Over the next week Morrisons will reduce a selection of their seasonal vegetables to 8p for Morrisons More Card Holders.

The deal will give Morrisons shoppers with a More Card the opportunity to get their hands on carrots, parsnips and swedes for 8p, up until Easter Sunday.
Morrisons shoppers will also see a selection of the supermarket's meats at a discounted price over the next week, as well as Morrisons' 'The Best' potatoes reduced to half price at £1.10.
On Facebook, Morrisons posted a selection of their discounted meats and vegetables with the caption, 'Get ready for a delicious Easter feast! From fresh veggies to the main event - we've got you covered'.
Morrisons shoppers have since taken to the platform to express their excitement for the store's latest Easter deal, as customer Hazel Douglass wrote: 'Bought the veg this morning, cooking as we speak.'
Gareth Lloyd, Head of Marketing Events at Morrisons, said : 'Easter is a time for families to come together and enjoy great food. We're proud to offer our customers quality, fresh British produce at prices that help make their celebrations affordable.
'With these huge savings, we're making it easier for everyone to enjoy a traditional Easter meal without compromising on quality.'
He added: 'These vegetable price cuts are part of Morrisons ongoing commitment to deliver quality and value, particularly during key seasonable moments when food plays an even bigger role within our customers' households.'
The supermarket's latest deal also follows a number of other UK supermarket retailers who have reduced the price of groceries in the run up to the Easter weekend.
Morrisons' price drop follows Lidl's own announcement that they would cut the price of six seasonal vegetables to 15p as part of the store's Easter Pick of the Week Deals.
Aldi shoppers have also seen discounted Easter deals with the supermarket also announcing they would also be reducing the price of five popular grocery items to 15p.
Morrisons' reductions on selected veg in the run up to Easter also comes after the store announced that they would be giving away free breakfasts to families over the school holiday for the third year.
Morrisons Café Senior Buying Manger, Chris Strong, said: "The breakfast club partnership with Kellogg's has proved incredibly popular with our customers and we are delighted to bring it back for a third year.
"We have helped many families across the UK since it was first introduced and will continue to do so during schools' Easter holidays.'

Universal credit claimants hit record high
Universal Credit claimants have reached a record eight million, according to official figures published on Tuesday. This unprecedented number for July 2025 marks the highest level since the benefit's introduction in 2013. The latest data reveals a significant surge of over a million people in just one year, up from 6.9 million claimants in July last year. Universal Credit is a payment designed to assist with living costs, available to those in low-income employment, as well as individuals who are out of work or unable to work. The steep rise in the past year has been driven almost entirely by people who are not required to work, with 3.7 million in this category in July – a rise of 39% or 1 million since the same time in 2024. People in this bracket can include those in full-time education, over the state pension age, someone with a child aged under one, and those considered to have no prospect of work. The Labour Government has previously said it 'inherited a broken welfare system and spiralling, unsustainable benefits bill' from the Conservatives, and is working on reforms including tightening rules on who can claim UC. The number of working people on UC rose to 2.2 million in July, up slightly from 2.1 million 12 months previously.

Overseas travel to US continues to tumble as Trump imposes travel bans, tariffs
Travel to the US tumbled 3.1% in July — the latest in a slew of monthly declines as the Trump administration imposes strict curbs on travel and pursues tough negotiations on trade. The most recent drop was fueled by a steep pullback from Germany, China and Switzerland, which were down 14.7%, 13.8% and 12.7% respectively, according to the National Travel and Tourism Office, a government agency that works with the Department of Homeland Security and US Customs and Border Protection. Overseas travel to the US has been declining this year, down 3.1% in July, according to government data. Canadians in particular have been canceling trips to the US, offended by President Trump's suggestion that they be annexed to the US as the 51st state. In June, flights from Canada were down 22% and car crossings were down 33%, according to a report by travel trade publication Skift. Advertisement April represents the only exception to the downward trend, possibly because Easter fell in April instead of March. Overseas visitors increased 0.4% in April, but have been down since then. Among the top 20 countries, six increased their travel to the US in July, including Japan by 9.1%, Dominican Republic, by 7.3%, Spain by 6.7% Italy, by 6.3%, Israel by 6.1% and Ireland up by 2.9%, according to NTTO. Spending on promoting the US as a destination was decimated after the the 'Big Beautiful Bill' was passed in April. Brand USA, which promotes travel to the US, lost 80% of its federal funds. International travelers are especially coveted because they spend more and stay longer. Every 40 international visit supports one US job, according to NTTO. Last week, the largest hotel company in the world, Marriott International, cut its full year forecast for revenue and profits on slowing travel demand for its properties in the US.

Morrisons is offering people in a number of professions 10% off in all its cafés. The change makes Morrisons the only major supermarket to introduce an exclusive Café offer for Blue Light customers. Available from today, discount holders need to present a valid Blue Light Card at the till to claim the discount which is available in all cafés nationwide all day every day, with no minimum spend. The offer is not currently matched by other leading supermarkets which typically only offer discounts on gift card purchases.
