Beloved Gogglebox star dead at 96 after health battle - as her last heartbreaking words before she died are revealed
Her granddaughter Isabelle Silbery announced the heartbreaking news on Instagram and shared Emmie's last words before she passed away.
'Our Emmie, waited for me to come home for one last snuggle. Her last words 'I'm ready to hang up now,' she wrote.
'She was 96, an orphan, a nurse, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, the oldest woman on TV, a great grandmother, an author and so much more. Thank you for loving her as much as we did and will forever. Have a big rest now- you deserve it. Xxxxx.'
It comes after Emmie left the popular show in 2022 following her dementia diagnosis.
During the 2023 season's premiere, the show paid tribute to Emmie's time on the show.
Emmie's iconic red chair was empty while her daughter Kerry and granddaughter Isabelle sat on their lounge.
'We love you Emmie and we hope you continue to enjoy the show,' said a voiceover, paying respect to the beloved cast member who starred on the show for 14 seasons.
Many viewers flocked to social media to share their tributes to Emmie, with one Tweeting: 'We'll miss you Emmie #GoggleboxAU.'
'Sad that Emmie is no longer on @GoggleboxAU. I hope she is receiving good care in the retirement village. #GoggleboxAU,' another said.
A third person wrote: 'Emmie will be dearly missed #GoggleboxAU.'
It comes after Isabelle and her mother spoke to The Project host Sarah Harris on Tuesday night, weeks after announcing Emmie would not be returning to Gogglebox due to her diagnosis.
Kerry said the 'hardest part' of Emmie's diagnosis was having to tell her mother, who has been moved to an aged care facility, that she wouldn't be appearing on the show anymore.
'She said why not, and we said you've got dementia and she said I'm perfectly alright, there's nothing wrong with me, I'm not ga-ga,' Kerry explained.
'This is real life. Emmie is no longer able to do the show, and we wanted to be really transparent about that and not have her disappear off the couch,' added Isabelle.
The pair insisted that they would be keeping the ornate red chair Emmie sat in on the show, in honour of her.
They also explained that they became aware of an issue when wise-cracking Emmie could no longer follow what was being said while they were filming an interview.
Isabelle then broke down in tears as she described the 'long goodbye' of losing someone to the neurological disorder.
'Sometimes I really wish that she'd just go, because she's not the same. It's just really hard,' she said.
Dementia is an umbrella term used to describe a range of progressive neurological disorders that impact memory, thinking and behaviour.
There are many types of dementia, of which Alzheimer's disease is the most common.
There is no cure for dementia, although medical intervention can slow its progression.
Earlier this month, the Silberys made the sad announcement Emmie would no longer be joining them on the Gogglebox couch due her condition.
'We've had to make an array of difficult decisions that are best for Emmie since her recent diagnosis of dementia,' Kerry told 10Play.
'Emmie has now happily settled into an aged-care facility right around the corner from both Isabelle and me.'
Isabelle said 'it's been a tough few months, but her grandmother is 'safe and happy'.
'It's been tough watching my grandma deteriorate before our eyes with dementia,' she wrote on Instagram.
'I've been supporting mum, who has all the weight on her shoulders as she makes some big decisions for Emmie's future.'
'The three of us have always maintained being real with each other and you all, even through family struggles and this is one of them.'
She went on to say she hopes 'this opens up the conversation about dementia'.
'What's best for her now is that she is safe and happy in permanent care just up the road, where we visit her every day,' she added.
'She's stepping back from Gogglebox as it just wouldn't be fair to her, and instead she will be enjoying her evening wine whilst watching us on the coach.'
She concluded: 'Rest assured, Emmie is still cracking jokes, still up for a cuddle and in blissful ignorance of her circumstance.'
The Silbery family has appeared on the four-time Logie Award-winning series since 2016, and during that time have shared many personal stories.

Legendary singer, 80, from popular 60s group vanishes after boarding NYC subway train in Brooklyn
The legendary female singer of a rock band famous in the 1950s and 60s has been missing for four days after she vanished on the New York City subway. Sandra Hall, 80, is a former member of the Los Angeles-based vocal group, The Platters. The 80-year-old mysteriously disappeared at around 4pm on Friday after boarding a subway train at Atlantic Avenue - the busiest station in Brooklyn. According to a 'missing person' post on Facebook, Hall - who is 5'3 - was wearing gray sweat pants, a long white shirt with a long pink shirt over the top and white Reebok sneakers. Hall's disappearance is especially concerning because she has dementia and gets easily confused and disoriented, according to her family. 'Sandra is more than just our mother; she is a warm, vibrant woman who once brought joy to audiences as part of The Platters,' said her daughter, Star DaSilva. 'We just want to bring her home safely.' Family members are following a tip that the 80-year-old may have been spotted in the Bronx. 'We had a potential sighting in the Bronx! It checks out because she hopped on the 2 train going uptown,' Hall's daughter Star DaSilva posted on Facebook yesterday. 'We contacted the local precinct and now waiting for word. The person with the tip provided an accurate description so I'm feeling confident about it,' DaSilva continued. Hall joined The Platters under her stage name Sandra Dawn in 1965, 14 years after the group was first formed. The group was one of the most successful bands of the early rock and roll era. They had 40 charting singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and four number-one hits. Some of these hits include He's Mine, Enchanted and (You've Got) The Magic Touch. The Platters were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, and the group continues to perform around the world with new members. Formed in Los Angeles in 1951, the group initially consisted of teenagers Alex Hodge, his brother Gaynel, Curtis Williams, Joe Jefferson and Cornell Gunter. Herb Reed, the last surviving original member of the group, died in 2012 at age 83. If anyone has information regarding Hall's disappearance, they are asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or submit tips on the CrimeStoppers

MasterChef Australia winner Laura Sharrad reveals the 'cruel' way she learned of her victory - and you didn't see it on TV
MasterChef Australia: Back To Win concluded in a thrilling grand finale on Tuesday night. But winner Laura Sharrad, who beat Callum Hann, found out how she had won in what many viewers have called a 'cruel' process. The show depicted the chef finding out the good news on camera, but in reality, she was told quietly by producers. What's more, both Laura and Callum had to film scenes where they gave a winning speech - and a losing one - to keep the outcome secret. 'It's funny because the first time I did this [MasterChef] there were two endings, so I kind of knew what was going to happen,' Sharrad told on Wednesday. 'It's like, "One of you will go first, one of you wins first, you do a winning speech, and then the confetti gets picked up, we reload the confetti gun, and then you do round two,"' she continued. 'And then you obviously do a losing speech as well. So a bit of acting is required. My acting skills aren't great. We're cooks, we'll never make it as actors. Let's be real. 'It's a very, very weird thing, but I think it's the best thing to do to protect the show and nothing leaking.' Instead of learning the result with all the fanfare viewers see on TV, Laura was told the result in a 'very casual conversation' with Callum and a few producers in the room. Many fans watching at home were less than impressed with the result - with scores of furious viewers taking to social media to slam the result as 'biased' and 'rigged'. Several viewers have also complained of being blocked by the official MasterChef Australia page on X after sharing their anger over Callum's victory. 'My disappointment levels with this season of MasterChef are beyond rigged from the start. Callum is the most creative and talented chef and was extremely ripped off,' wrote one raging commentator. 'Callum the people's champion,' another said, while one more wrote, 'Hopefully next season will be no more biased judging.' 'Obviously scripted - Callum was the best,' someone else said, with another commenting, 'Callum ROBBED.' Instead of learning the result with all the fanfare viewers see on TV, Laura learned the result in a 'very casual conversation' with Callum (pictured) and a few producers in the room A handful of viewers complained that they were 'censored' for trying to share their views on MasterChef Australia's X page. 'Did you get blocked by #masterchefau after tonight's episode?' asked one person, attaching a poll that showed 37 per cent of the 29 respondents taking part had been blocked as of Tuesday night. 'Lollll they blocked me too hahahahhahaha,' wrote someone else. 'Wow, blocked by @masterchefau because of a comment about the final result. A sentiment shared by many. Trying to hide from the negative backlash,' one fan said. When approached for comment by Daily Mail, an ESA spokesperson said: 'MasterChef Australia is dedicated to creating a safe and respectful space on social media that protects the well-being of contestants. 'Users are welcome to share their opinions, but comments that include bullying, defamatory language, and personal attacks will not be tolerated.' Laura went up against Callum in a nail-biting final episode that saw two of the show's most beloved contestants duke it out over two courses. By the end of the episode, Laura emerged as the winner, and walked away with a $250,000 cash prize and the title of MasterChef.
