Patna: Education department on Wednesday signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with five prominent institutions to provide students with better resources and opportunities.
The five institutions will focus on different areas. While one will offer free online classes for JEE/NEET exams to Class IX-XII students at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya and Simultala Vidyalaya, another will provide similar classes for National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship exam to Class VIII students, with a special focus on those from rural areas.
Another institution will introduce a holistic English language learning programme to enhance students' reading, communication and comprehension skills.
Yet another will provide a weekly two-day module for Class VII-XII students, teaching them life and digital skills, and sustainable entrepreneurship. The fifth foundation will offer a 30-day, job-oriented skill training programme to the final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students in all govt and aided colleges, with the goal of helping at least 70% of them secure a job, start their own business, or pursue higher education.

Education minister Sunil Kumar, who was present on the occasion, said the partnership will not only infuse innovation and technology into the education system but also open new doors of opportunity for the students.
"We want the impact of each MoU to be clearly visible at the grassroots level, and for this, a system of regular monitoring and outcome-based evaluation will be ensured," he said.
The department's additional chief secretary, S Siddharth, said Bihar has the highest number of students in the country. "Providing them with quality resources and guidance to thrive in a competitive environment is our priority. The cooperation of these organisations will be a milestone in this direction. By integrating the capabilities, experience and resources of non-governmental and philanthropic organisations with the state's sustained efforts, the quality, innovation, and effectiveness of education can be taken to an unprecedented level," he said.
Secretary Ajay Yadav said that these non-governmental and philanthropic organisations can rapidly deliver innovation and practical skills to students.

Liverpool 'Agree Deal' For 18-Year-Old Italian Defender Giovanni Leoni

Last Updated: According to reports, the Premier League champions will pay £26 million ($35 million) for the highly-rated prospect, who has played just 17 Serie A games for Parma. Liverpool manager Arne Slot confirmed on Thursday that a deal to sign 18-year-old centre-back Giovanni Leoni from Parma has been agreed between the clubs. According to reports, the Premier League champions will pay £26 million ($35 million) for the highly-rated prospect, who has played just 17 Serie A games for Parma. Liverpool have already spent £260 million on the signings of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez to build from a position of strength after winning a record-equalling 20th English top-flight title last season. However, the departure of Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen had left Slot with just three centre-backs to choose from. One of those, Joe Gomez, has missed most of pre-season due to injury, while doubts remain over the future of Ibrahima Konate, who has just one year left on his contract at Anfield. 'The clubs have agreed a deal, but he hasn't signed for us yet. The moment he signs for us I can go into more detail," said Slot at a press conference ahead of Liverpool's Premier League opener against Bournemouth on Friday. Liverpool have not won back-to-back league titles since 1984, and Slot expects it to be an even tougher challenge to defend their crown given the turnover in his squad. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Caoimhin Kelleher have also departed, while the club is still coming to terms with the tragic loss of Diogo Jota, who died in a car crash last month. 'The main reason that it is so difficult is because there are so many competitors who can win the league. It's unbelievable if you are able to do it in this league," added Slot. 'This year will be even harder than before. 'We have lost five to six players who played quite a lot of minutes last season, and brought in four, so it's normal there is adaptation." The fee to bring Wirtz to England from Leverkusen could rise to a British transfer record £116 million. Slot, though, believes the German international has the mentality to cope with the pressure of that price tag. 'When you see him play, he is so creative. He is mentally strong; he doesn't get distracted by a transfer fee or anything else," added the Dutch coach. 'Good players always find a way to play well in good teams. He has to adjust to England, the league, the intensity, and his teammates. His adjustment has already gone quite well, more than we expected." Wi-Fi at Kolkata airport back after eight months

1 2 Kolkata: The city airport on Thursday reintroduced Wi-Fi for flyers in the passenger terminal after a gap of eight months. The move will bring relief to travellers, especially foreigners landing in Kolkata. Inaugurating the service on Thursday, airport director Pravat Ranjan Beuria said wi-fi would not only be available to passengers with an active phone network but also to foreigners who did not have roaming cell coverage after reaching Kolkata. "Flyers will no longer face connectivity issues at the airport. The entire terminal — arrival and departure; domestic and international wing—will be under Wi-Fi coverage," he said. "It's a welcome change. Just last month, my niece came to Kolkata from London and in the absence of a Wi-Fi connection, she couldn't even contact us as we stood outside the airport to receive her. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Angola: New Container Houses (Prices May Surprise You) Container House | Search ads Search Now Undo She was also extremely upset with the lack of a basic facility like a Wi-Fi connection. Kolkata is a top-tier metro. It deserves an airport that reflects that. I am happy that the issue has finally been addressed," said Subhasree Majumdar, a Jadavpur resident. New Town resident Anjali Tiwari said her relatives visiting Kolkata from the US last month were surprised to learn there was no Wi-Fi at Kolkata airport. "I am glad that Wi-Fi has been provided and hope the speed is on par with other international airports," she said. An airport official said the help desks will be available before the exit points at the arrival level in both domestic and international wings of the terminal. In the international wing, the desk will be positioned between exit gates 4 and 5 after the immigration and Customs channels. "Once the traveller logs into the free Wi-Fi after registering on the NSCBI Airport portal through either OTP mode via SMS or entering the voucher code obtained from the help desk, he or she can surf the Internet or access net-based apps, including WhatsApp, to make a call to a driver or book a cab using Uber, Ola or Yatri Sathi," the official explained. In future, the airport has plans to also introduce WhatsApp-based authentication. Passengers will, however, require an active Internet connection to access this. Tour operators and travel agents who bring foreign tourists to India, particularly around Durga Puja and Christmas, are delighted. Travel Agent Association of India chairman (East) Anjani Dhanuka and his counterpart at Travel Agents Federation of India Bilolaksha Das said Wi-Fi is a basic amenity that is of vital importance for international tourists who fly to a foreign shore. "Connectivity is important to contact the travel executive assigned to receive the tourist at the airport," said Dhanuka. "Once they are in the city, they can purchase prepaid local SIMs and get connected," added Das. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
