The Kuala Lumpur High Court was told today that Umno had no knowledge that the RM16 million it received from Jendela Pinggiran Sdn Bhd (JPSB) could be traced to any breach of duty or trust.
Umno's counsel, Shahrul Fazli Kamarulzaman, submitted that the party received the said sum as donations and contributions.

Puteri Umno steadfast backbone of Umno's struggle

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has expressed his appreciation to all Puteri Umno members in conjunction with the 24th anniversary of the Umno wing. The deputy prime minister said the wing has remained a steadfast backbone of the party's struggle for more than two decades. In a Facebook post, Ahmad Zahid said Puteri Umno is a dynamic wing representing the voice of young women that is bold in taking the lead, strategic in organising efforts and unwavering in defending Umno under any circumstances. "From the realm of social media to the grassroots in villages and cities, Puteri is always present, contributing energy and igniting the spirit of the (party's) struggle," he said. He said this anniversary comes at a very significant time, ahead of the Sabah State Election, which he described as both a testing ground and an opportunity to prove the maturity and capability of Puteri Umno as the voice of the future. "I believe, with strong solidarity and unyielding spirit, Puteri Umno will continue to chart success, not only within the party, but also in nation-building and driving the country forward. "Happy 24th Anniversary to Puteri Umno. – Bernama

Umno open to post-election cooperation in Sabah: Zahid

Published on: Sunday, August 03, 2025 Published on: Sun, Aug 03, 2025 By: Winnie Kasmir Text Size: SANDAKAN: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi ( pic ), also Umno president, has reaffirmed the party's commitment to serving the people and remaining open to political cooperation in the post-election landscape for the benefit of Sabah. Speaking here on Sunday, he said post-state election collaboration among parties was possible, emphasising that political alliances are not permanent and should serve public interest. He made the remarks while officiating the 22nd Libaran Umno Division delegates meeting, where several national and Sabah Umno leaders were also present. Ahmad Zahid urged all parties to prioritise resolving pressing issues faced by the people, particularly the longstanding electricity and clean water supply problems. He said any incoming government must focus on delivering quality public services as a core responsibility to the people. To support development goals, he called for capable and credible leaders to take charge, warning that a stable government cannot be formed with weak leadership. He also outlined key proposals for the upcoming state election manifesto, including resolving power and water supply issues, accelerating Pan Borneo Highway upgrades, and expanding TVET education to boost job opportunities. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? BN eyes 25 seats in Sabah polls as UMNO leaders stress unity, non-negotiable seat strategy

UMNO Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan confirmed that BN plans to contest at least 25 state seats in the upcoming Sabah state election. This is based on the 25 parliamentary constituencies in Sabah, with BN aiming for at least one state seat per constituency. He emphasised that this principle is non-negotiable in ongoing seat negotiations with PH, and has instructed BN's negotiating team to ensure this condition is upheld. 'As I've mentioned previously in Kimanis, I want at least one representative contesting at the state level (DUN) for each parliamentary constituency. Logically, if there are 25 parliamentary seats, there should be at least 25 DUN seats.' 'That is the basis of our negotiation, so yes, UMNO and BN are proposing to contest at least 25 state seats,' he said when speaking to reporters after officiating the UMNO Putatan Division Delegates Meeting here on Saturday. Nevertheless, UMNO Vice President Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said BN has no issues with seat distribution if it collaborates with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and PH Sabah in the upcoming Sabah state election. He stressed the importance of avoiding internal clashes to ensure effective cooperation and shared goals in developing the state. Johari emphasized that discussions should focus on unity and strategy, not personal interests. Earlier, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor confirmed continued GRS-PH cooperation, and BN Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that BN and PH had formalized their alliance for the election. —Aug 3, 2025 Main image: Malay Mail
