Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan participates in International Conference of Young Scientists at IIT Hyderabad
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], June 10 (ANI): Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan participated in the International Conference of Young Scientists at IIT Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the conference brings together a vibrant community of young academicians from various scientific fields, noting that over 200 delegates from 60 countries are participating in this event.
'I am happy to be present at the inaugural ceremony of the Global Young Academics Annual Conference hosted by IIT Hyderabad. This conference brings together a vibrant community of young academicians from various scientific fields. Over 200 delegates from 60 countries are participating in this event, where they will share insights on emerging scientific dynamics, global responsibilities, and India's growing role as a knowledge hub. 'Such gatherings play a crucial role in fostering a new and robust scientific ecosystem in the country,' Pradhan told mediapersons.
On Saturday, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan offered prayers at Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain.
Pradhan, Governor of Karnataka, Thaawarchand Gehlot and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated a hostel and staff quarters at Prime Minister Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya-2.
The Union Minister Pradhan and CM Yadav also performed a ritual and inaugurated the hostel and staff quarters.
In an X post, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan shared glimpses of the event and appreciated Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Sandipani Vidyalaya for working to create meritorious students under the National Education Policy 2020.
He wrote, 'Today, along with Hon'ble Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav ji, Hon'ble Governor of Karnataka Thaawarchand Gehlot ji and other colleagues, inaugurated the new hostel and staff quarters of PM Shri School Navodaya Vidyalaya-2 in Alot, Ratlam and Sandipani Vidyalaya, Alot.'
'I am happy that the state governments, including Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Sandipani Vidyalaya, are working at a rapid pace on the vision of creating meritorious students in the National Education Policy - 2020,' he added.
He also mentioned that Navodaya Vidyalayas have performed excellently, and more than 1100 students from these schools have been selected for IITs all over the country.
'This time, the performance of Navodaya Vidyalayas has been excellent. More than 1100 students selected in IIT from all over the country are from Navodaya Vidyalayas. It is a matter of even more satisfaction for us that more than half of these students are from poor and deprived sections. I have full faith that in the coming years, the students of PM Shri Navodaya Vidyalaya-2, A lot will also make their place in prestigious institutions like IIT, NEET, NIT,' Dharmendra Pradhan said. Earlier in the day, BJP President JP Nadda expressed sorrow and grief over the demise of former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani. On Thursday, the Al-171 Boeing Dreamliner 787-8 aeroplane bound for London's Gatwick had crashed shortly after it took off from the Ahmedabad International Airport. The airlines said only one out of the 242 people on board the aircraft survived the crash. Vijay Rupani was a two-time Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2016 to 2021. Rupani was also appointed the BJP's in-charge for Punjab. (ANI)

In a first, JU to reach out civil society via Academic Council Meet at Bhaderwah Campus
Jammu, June 13 (UNI) For deepening academic engagement and enhancing the University's outreach to the youth and communities in far-flung areas of the region, Vice Chancellor Prof. Umesh Rai today said that the University of Jammu is poised to create history by convening its Academic Council Meeting—the apex academic decision-making body of the University—for the first time at its Bhaderwah Campus on June 15. Announcing the decision here at a curtain raiser press conference, Prof Rai emphasized that convening the Academic Council meeting outside the main campus reflects the University's evolving approach to inclusivity—by directly connecting with its regional campuses, students, and civil society. He underscored the vital role of offsite campuses in shaping academic vision of the University and integrating them into the mainstream of decision-making. Terming Bhaderwah as the oldest regional campus of the University, Prof. Rai emphasised its strategic role in catering to the academic aspirations of students from remote and hilly areas. Heads of Departments from the main campus, principals of affiliated colleges, academic representatives from other institutions, and senior deans from the University of Kashmir will participate in the meeting. The Council will also deliberate on several academic reforms such as Implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 at the postgraduate level from August 2025, Curriculum restructuring and a new credit framework for experiential learning, Promotion of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary programme design In addition to the Council meeting, the University has outlined a comprehensive series of parallel academic and community engagement activities. Prof. Rai informed that six thematic working groups have been constituted to develop policy inputs on critical focus areas including Multidisciplinarity in academics, Internationalization and global outreach, Skilling and entrepreneurship, Industry-academia collaboration, Start-up ecosystems and innovation, Strategic development of offsite campuses. These groups will present policy-oriented papers to help guide the University's long-term academic planning and institutional growth, he added. The Vice Chancellor further stated that such key academic and administrative engagements will also be conducted at other offsite campuses of the University, including Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, and Poonch, in a phased manner. The aim is to foster stronger institutional linkages across all regional centres and make them active contributors in the University's governance and growth story. Other planned events include cultural programmes and interactions with civil society, aimed at building deeper community linkages and promoting public accountability. As part of this outreach, individuals from the local civil society who have made significant contributions in education, literature, and social development will be felicitated at Bhaderwah. Prof. Rai reiterated the University's responsibility as a publicly funded institution, committed to addressing regional needs through collaborative dialogue and inclusive participation. Another major announcement made by the Vice Chancellor was the University's plan to launch undergraduate programmes at the main campus. Syamala Nagar and Sanjeevaiah Nagar ROBs sanctioned, says Union Minister Pemmasani
Union Minister of State for Rural Development Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar told The Hindu that the Ministry of Railways has sanctioned Road Over Bridges (ROBs) at Syamala Nagar and Sanjeevaiah Nagar in Guntur, with a total funding of Rs. 160 crore. Dr. Pemmasani stated that the entire cost will be borne by the Central Government, with no financial obligation on the part of the State. He emphasized that these approvals fulfill promises made to the public during the elections, adding that necessary infrastructure for Guntur is being addressed one by one. He further said that including these two latest approvals, a total of seven ROBs have now been sanctioned for the Guntur parliamentary constituency—Sankar Vilas, Gaddipadu, Pedapalakaluru, Nandivelugu, and Mangalagiri being the others. Together, these projects account for Rs. 572 crore in central funding, with the Centre taking full financial responsibility. Dr. Pemmasani also met with South Central Railway General Manager Arun Kumar Jain in Hyderabad on Friday, expressing gratitude for his support. He requested the GM's cooperation in resolving drainage and traffic issues near three existing bridges in Guntur city.
