Forecast in detail
Today (Sunday): Another day with plenty of sunshine and delightfully below-average highs around 80 to 85. Humidity remains nice and comfortable as well (dew points in the 50s) with light winds from the northeast. Confidence: High 😎 Nice Day!
Tonight: Tranquil conditions continue this evening and overnight with partly to mostly clear skies and lows around 60 to 65. It's a good night to open the windows and soak in the comfortable air. Confidence: High
Tomorrow (Monday): Mostly sunny and a touch warmer with afternoon highs in the low to mid-80s. The humidity may edge slightly higher (dew points in the upper 50s to near 60) but it's still quite comfortable for early August. Confidence: High 😎 Nice Day!
Tomorrow night: Comfy again for the evening and overnight with partly cloudy skies and lows in the mid- to upper 60s. Confidence: Medium-High
A look ahead
Tuesday is still quite nice with partly to mostly sunny skies and slightly warmer highs in the mid-80s. The humidity should still pretty much be in check. Tuesday night lows drop back to the 60s with a shower possible. Confidence: Medium
Not much confidence yet, but shower chances could rise Wednesday and Thursday because of increasing moisture and potential for low pressure to develop to the south. Highs should continue in the low- to mid-80s. Stay tuned for more details. Confidence: Low

CWG Live updates: Low-humidity warmth this weekend gives way to muggy heat next week

Welcome to updated around-the-clock by Capital Weather Gang meteorologists. Happening now: A top-notch summer day. Loads of sun and meager humidity, plus temperatures still a touch below average. What's next? Not too much different Sunday. Then heat and humidity make a comeback to start the workweek. Both could stick around for a while. Today's daily digit — 10/10: I always hesitate to go 10, but it's hard to debate myself much on this one. | 🤚 Your call? The digit is a somewhat subjective rating of the day's weather, on a 0-to-10 scale. Forecast in detail Today (Saturday): Quite ideal. It'll be mostly sunny as temperatures continue to run below average. A push of relatively dry air is in town during the afternoon. Dew points should fall to the 50s, with highs mainly low to mid-80s. Confidence: High 😎 Nice Day! Tonight: Plan on a winner of an evening with temperatures falling back through the 70s. Lows end up in the range of 60 to 65 in most spots under mainly clear skies. Be sure to check out the full moon! Confidence: High Tomorrow (Sunday): Similar to today, but a touch warmer. Dew points should again end up in the 50s during the afternoon, which helps keep it feeling rather comfortable. Highs mainly mid-80s with some upper 80s mixed in. Confidence: Medium-High Tomorrow night: Humidity is beginning to tick up, but hard to notice still. It could mean low temperatures a touch milder than recent nights, or low 60s in the suburbs to maybe as high as upper 60s in the city. Confidence: Medium-High A look ahead Temperatures and humidity both move upward Monday into Tuesday. We should make it to about 85 or 90 across the region to start the workweek, then mostly 90 or higher by Tuesday. Storm risks are close to nonexistent, with high pressure in control. Confidence: Medium Feeling like midsummer again by Wednesday and Thursday. Highs in the low 90s, at the least, and it could be pushing mid-90s. With dew points back near or above 70, expect plenty of heat index to go with it and a return of higher storm chances late in the day.
