Man Utd target Dusan Vlahovic was completely shown up by £50m ace Liverpool want

Manchester United have been linked with a swap deal involving Jadon Sancho and Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who has already faced Premier League stars
Manchester United have been linked with Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic, who has come up against Premier League defenders in the past. The Serbian striker was signed for £60million from Fiorentina in 2022, but could be on his way out of Turin this summer.
Vlahovic, 25, scored 16 goals across all competitions for the Old Lady this season. He has since been touted as a target for United as Juventus reportedly explore a possible swap deal for Jadon Sancho.

The winger is set to enter the final year of his United contract and is not thought to be in manager Ruben Amorim's plans after his Chelsea loan spell failed to materialise into a permanent move. However, if Vlahovic does join the Premier League as part of a swap deal, he will hope to perform better against England defender Marc Guehi, who is wanted by Liverpool.

Gazzetta dello Sport has claimed that Juventus are willing to offer players in exchange for Sancho, who is also said to be on Napoli's radar. Vlahovic has been named as one option and former Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz is said to be another alternative.
Vlahovic has been described as 'unreceptive' to previous offers to leave Juventus, having attracted interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia. However, the chance to lead the line for United could convince the forward.
He has limited experience against English clubs, scoring in a Champions League group stage win over Manchester City in November. However, Vlahovic did line up for Serbia against England in their opening game at Euro 2024, where he endured a tough evening against Guehi.
The centre-back was selected by Gareth Southgate to replace the injured Harry Maguire, despite his relative inexperience at international level. Crystal Palace captain Guehi stepped up to the challenge and appeared composed alongside John Stones as the Three Lions earned a 1-0 win.
Vlahovic, partnered by ex-Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic, barely had a touch in the first-half as England stifled Serbia's physical front two. It proved to be a landmark performance from Guehi, who has since attracted interest from Liverpool.

The Palace defender is another who is set to enter the last 12 months of his deal after failing to agree to a new contract with Oliver Glasner's side. Reluctant to let one of their prize assets leave for free next year, the FA Cup winners are expected to sell Guehi this summer.
Liverpool have expressed interest in Guehi this summer as they look to bolster their centre-back options. Arne Slot's side are searching for a central defender following Jarell Quasah's move to Bayer Leverkusen.

Palace have set a £50m asking price for Guehi, according to talkSPORT. Liverpool have already been busy in the transfer market after agreeing deals for Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez.
Meanwhile, as United consider Sancho's future, the club have also begun rebuilding their team. Matheus Cunha has arrived from Wolves and the club have improved their offer for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.

Tottenham signing Kota Takai is 6ft 4in centre-back who shut down Cristiano Ronaldo and will go straight into first team

That is exactly what Kota Takai, the exciting Japanese centre-back set to be Tottenham's second signing of the Thomas Frank era, managed in April. 6 Tottenham are set to sign towering defender Kota Takai Credit: Getty 6 He has already shut down Cristiano Ronaldo Credit: Getty Towering defender Takai was lining up for J-League outfit Kawasaki Frontale against Ronaldo's Al-Nassr in the semi-final of the AFC Champions League elite. It is Asia's version of the Champions League and the most prestigious competition in that part of the world. Having seen off Didier Drogba's old Chinese team Shanghai Shenhua in the last 16 and Qatari side Al-Sadd, via extra-time, in the quarters, it was Al Nassr's formidable front three of Ronaldo, Sadio Mane and Jhon Duran up next in the last four. But 20-year-old Takai handled the task well, with only Mane of the trio netting as Kawasaki came through 3-2 in Jeddah. It was not how the script was supposed to go. This was meant to be the triumphant pay-off from Al-Nassr's massive expenditure in recent years and their first final appearance in 30 years. But instead it was Takai and Co who went through to the showpiece three days later, with Ronaldo looking visibly shocked at full-time having missed a late chance. Kawasaki went on to lose the final three days later to Ivan Toney's Al-Ahli, Saudi Pro League rivals to Al-Nassr. Daniel Levy reveals he wants Tottenham to win Champions League AND Premier League under 'super' Thomas Frank 6 The defender possesses an impressive leap Credit: Getty 6 He has earned four caps for Japan Credit: Getty A £5million fee has been agreed with Kawasaki which is a record fee for a Japanese player from the J-League. Most Spurs fans will understandably never have heard of Takai, but the expectation at this point is that he is coming to be part of the first-team squad this term rather than be loaned out. Frank and his coaching staff will, of course, assess him over the summer and make a final judgment call on that. Spurs are stacked at centre-back, after all - with six already at the club and Croatian teen sensation Luka Vuskovic joining this summer too - even though there is Champions League football to come this term. But Takai's relative experience at such a tender age has given Spurs confidence he can be involved from the off. The Yokohama-born defender already has four appearances for Japan, all coming in World Cup qualifiers, and has 78 senior matches under his belt already. Takai, who turns 21 in September, was pivotal to Kawasaki clinching the Japanese Super Cup last year and was named the league's Young Player of the Year. 6 Takai will be the 16th Japanese player to feature in the Premier League following in Shinji Kagawa's footsteps Credit: AFP 6 Brighton's Kaoru Mitoma, right, is currently starring in England's top-flight Credit: Getty Those feats have convinced the Spurs hierarchy that Takai can join the club's burgeoning group of young talent that includes Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and the first signing of the summer, Mathys Tel. Takai's favoured shirt number is said to be No2 which Spurs have had available ever since Irish full-back Matt Doherty left the club two years ago. If and when the youngster makes his Premier League bow, he will become the 16th Japanese player to do so, following in the footsteps of Kaoru Mitoma, Shinji Kagawa and Junichi Inamoto. His capture continues Spurs' recruitment from the Far East of late, following last year's signing of South Korean starlet Yang Min-Hyeok, who went on loan to QPR in the second half of the season. Of course, Spurs have had the most famous Asian player in recent times starring for them over the last decade in Son Heung-min, though he could leave the club this summer. If Takai can have even a fifth of the impact skipper Son has had at Spurs, then the North Londoners will consider him one hell of a bargain.

Ruben Amorim may copy Jurgen Klopp as Man Utd swap stance clear after £60m offer

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim could take a page out of Jurgen Klopp's book as his side look to step up their business this summer following a fresh £60million offer Manchester United aren't accustomed to taking their lead from Liverpool, but Ruben Amorim may do just that by swerving a move to sign Christopher Nkunku. The Frenchman is believed to be up for sale this summer after falling afoul at Chelsea, with the Red Devils among those said to be interested. The Telegraph reported on Monday that United and Chelsea are "weighing up" a potential swap deal involving Nkunku and Alejandro Garnacho. Both players have seen their stock plummet at their respective clubs of late, with each being touted to move in the coming months. ‌ Garnacho, 20, fell out with Amorim towards the end of this season when he was dropped for key clashes against Tottenham and Aston Villa. And the Argentina international appears to have hinted he's ready to leave after posting an image of himself wearing a Villa jersey with Rashford's name and number on the back, having spent part of this term on loan in Birmingham. ‌ Nkunku, 27, had lofty ambitions after he joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2023 for an eye-bulging £52million. However, the France international wouldn't be expected to fetch the same fee today despite scoring 14 times in 22 starts this season. His career in England may have panned out differently had the boardroom brains at Anfield got their way. The Reds recruitment team identified Nkunku as a likeable target during his time in Germany. However, The Times reported Klopp stepped in to insist his side signed Darwin Nunez from Benfica instead. The manager got his wish, though many might wonder if Nkunku would have been the superior signing given Nunez's struggles in front of goal. And Amorim, 40, could conduct a similar hijack as United step up their interest in Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo. That's after seeing an initial offer of £45m plus £10m in add-ons rebuffed by the Bees. The Red Devils have now returned with a second bid totalling £60m for the Cameroon international. Amorim has already added Brazil international Matheus Cunha to his squad this summer but appears adamant to continue strengthening his options in attack. ‌ Despite missing out on European qualification for the coming campaign, United's spending power doesn't appear to have been dented as badly as some predicted. Or at least the club isn't shying away from lavish expenses, confident in their ability to balance the books via other means. Amorim hasn't wasted much time in attempting to put his own imprint on the team during his first summer window at the Old Trafford helm. And adding Mbeumo to his selection would represent another statement signing given the player could well hold out for a team playing among Europe's elite next season. ‌ Any pursuit of Nkunku could be seen as more appealing given the implication that it would help offload Garnacho. However, that would still require a significant piece of negotiation as the two deals would have to be treated individually, rather than a straight swap. In any case, United's follow-up bid for Mbeumo appears to suggest he has caught Amorim's eye as the more desirable target. And if that is the case, it would illustrate the Portuguese's powers of persuasion, not unlike former Liverpool boss Klopp.

Managing Wrexham - Liverpool ace and ex-Prem star join as second 'legend' leaves

Wrexham have already made one signing following their promotion to the Championship, while talisman Paul Mullin has left on loan, with other big decisions now looming for the club Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has some big decisions to make as he looks to assemble a team capable of competing in the Championship next season. The Welsh side, owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have so far passed every challenge they've faced with flying colours after achieving three successive promotions. However, the second tier is a different beast altogether, with recently-relegated Premier League clubs Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town to contend with. Sheffield United, who missed out on promotion last season to Sunderland, and Frank Lampard 's Coventry City are also expected to be near the top of the table. ‌ The Red Dragons have already confirmed their first summer signing after bringing in striker Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle. Parkinson has also shown his ruthless side after allowing club talisman Paul Mullin to join Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan and releasing veteran forward Steven Fletcher. ‌ With his squad due to return to the club this week for pre-season tests, the former Bolton and Sunderland boss will have more tough choices awaiting him. An advisor to Reynolds and McElhenney recently provided an insight into the type of player Wrexham will be seeking to attract over the coming weeks. Speaking to the i Paper, Les Reed, who sits on the club's transfer committee said: "In the Championship, they [new signings] will need to be athletic. Our ambition will be to drive the average age down, but at the same time remain competitive. "We can't just go 'that's it, we're only going for younger players'. A couple of clubs recently – and I won't mention their names – have done that, and it hasn't worked. It will be a mix." So, how might Wrexham find themselves lining up next season as they look to strike the right balance over the summer? Here, Mirror Football takes a closer look at some of the key moves which could happen, both inwards and outwards. Ex-Prem defender and Liverpool starlet arrive Wrexham's impressive defensive record was key to their success in League One, conceding just 34 goals overall last season. But reinforcements will be required to make the next step up as several members of their backline have followed the club all the way from the National League. ‌ One rumoured target who would bring much-needed top level experience is Wolves centre-back Craig Dawson, whose contract is due to expire at the end of June. The 35-year-old is understood to have attracted Wrexham's interest after also turning out for West Brom, Watford and West Ham during his career. The importance of balancing experience and youth was stressed by Reed in his interview, and the prospective signing of promising Liverpool youngster Owen Beck on loan would assist in that regard. The Red Dragons are keen on snapping up the 22-year-old left-back after he shone during a temporary stint with Blackburn Rovers last season, and it's a move which would make a lot of sense as they look to the future. Rival's captain snatched to boost midfield One way to improve your chances of competing is to weaken your opponents. Sheffield Wednesday are currently in dire straits with several team members still not paid their wages for May, resulting in the club being placed under a transfer embargo. ‌ The situation has sparked fears that key players could leave, and Wrexham could take advantage by snatching Owls captain Barry Bannan, who has been linked with a move to North Wales. Bannan is a seasoned Championship campaigner, making 447 appearance for Wednesday since joining the club in 2015. The 35-year-old's current contract at Hillsborough is due to expire at the end of this month. Despite his advancing years, Wrexham are said to be willing to pay him a "top salary" and it would represent a smart move as they look to establish themselves at the next level. ‌ Parkinson cuts second club legend loose Wrexham fans are slowly getting used to saying hard goodbyes this summer following the departure of firm favourites like Fletcher and Mullin. Many supporters found the latter joining Wigan on loan difficult to process after scoring 110 goals for the club and playing a crucial role in their recent promotions. However, there could be more outgoings to come, with Mullin's strike partner Ollie Palmer high on the list of candidates expected to head for the exit door. Palmer has served the club well, scoring 44 goals in the last four seasons, and was recently described by Parkinson as a Wrexham "legend" during an interview with the BBC. ‌ The 33-year-old was particularly instrumental in the National League title-winning campaign in 2022-23. But due to his advancing years and diminishing goal return, netting just three time last season, Palmer's departure looks not only to be inevitable, but necessary. Big names must be avoided Wrexham have been linked with some big name stars during the current transfer window. The likes of Leicester legend Jamie Vardy, ex-Liverpool striker Danny Ings and even Christian Eriksen have been touted as potential targets, highlighting the size of the club's profile. ‌ With the Welcome to Wrexham documentary in mind, there could be a temptation to go for a megastar to capture the attention of viewers. However, there are several good reasons why Wrexham should avoid going down that route. For starters, the club's success in recent years has mostly been delivered as a result of Parkinson prioritising good characters over high profile signings. Likewise, trying to attract players like Vardy, who reportedly earned £140,000 a week at Leicester, will be a tough ask, even for Wrexham. Transfer advisor Reed recently set out the reality of the club's financial position in his recent interview, saying: "We are a million miles away from [paying] that because we don't get Premier League revenues or broadcasting money. We will have a decent budget. Everyone externally thinks we've got an unlimited budget because of our owners, but that's not true."
