Katy Perry's 4-Year-Old Daughter Makes First Public Appearance Supporting Mom's Space Flight
As Katy Perry made history as part of Blue Origin's first all-female crew on Monday, April 14, her 4-year-old daughter was her biggest fan as she watched her mom make her brief flight from space back to Earth. The 'Dark Horse' singer ensured that Daisy was there in spirit in the capsule as she sweetly paid tribute to the toddler's namesake.
Perry revealed that she brought a daisy flower into space with her, holding it in her hand as she left the capsule upon her return. The 'Hot n Cold' singer, who shares Daisy with Orlando Bloom, told reporters that her child was first and foremost in her thoughts as she joined fellow first-time passengers Lauren Sánchez, Gayle King, Amanda Nguyen, Aisha Bowe, and Kerianne Flynn on the rocket.
Calling the bucket list experience 'second to being a mom," she told reporters that being a parent made her hesitant to agree to the opportunity. "That's why it was hard for me to go because that's all my love right there, and I have to surrender and trust that the universe is going to take care of me and protect me and also my family and daughter,' Perry—who also co-parents Bloom's son Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr—told the crowd upon landing.
Perry revealed that she wanted to 'model courage, worthiness and fearlessness" to her daughter, adding, 'I am full up from being able to get that gift of being a mom, and to go to space is incredible.'
While Perry has previously shared photos of her young daughter and opened up about the toddler's personality—apparently the 'extrovert' is a big fan of 'mom's songs'—it's the first time fans got to see Daisy's face. In a clip from the broadcast, Daisy could be seen reacting to her mom's space flight in real time, the blue-eyed toddler had bright blonde hair and wore a red, white, and blue jacket.
It appeared that the star also paid tribute to Daisy's love of music by giving her fellow flight members a mini concert in space. Perry, who previously revealed that visiting space has been her dream since she was 15, revealed that she sang Louis Armstrong's 'What a Wonderful World' instead of her own hits like 'E.T.' and 'Firework.'
