Union minister Khatik walks off stage after ‘insult' at CM's event
Bhopal: Union minister and Tikamgarh MP Virendra Khatik reportedly walked off the stage after facing alleged humiliation during CM Mohan Yadav's event in Niwari district. The incident occurred at the Devi Ahilyabai Nari Sammelan held on Saturday in Prithvipur town, where Khatik's speech was allegedly interrupted by a community leader.
A video of the moment has gone viral on social media, stirring political debate.
According to local media reports, as soon as Khatik was called to speak, Pal Samaj National President Shaitan Singh Pal allegedly pulled his hand and stopped him from addressing the gathering. The Union Minister attempted to free himself and briefly spoke for just two minutes.
After the exchange, Khatik reportedly walked across the stage to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, had a brief conversation with him, and then left the stage in visible anger without completing his address.
The viral video shows Khatik looking uncomfortable as Pal continues to hold his hand. Local BJP leaders have attempted to downplay the incident. BJP Niwari district president Rajesh told local reporters, "The BJP is a large family. Such minor incidents happen. There's no need to make a big issue of it — we resolve matters internally."
MP representative Vivek Chaturvedi described Khatik as "Bundelkhand's Gandhi", and told local media, "He has conducted himself with seriousness and dignity throughout his political career.

However, the World Bank has thus far declined to intervene in India's internal decision to suspend the treaty. India has emphasised the need to revisit and renegotiate the treaty to reflect 21st-century realities. The original treaty, crafted in the 1950s and 60s, is increasingly seen as outdated due to changing hydrological patterns, glacial melt, population growth, and the need for sustainable energy and water management. Despite India's push for modernisation, Pakistan has continued to resist renegotiation – a stance that, according to Indian officials, itself contravenes the treaty's provisions. N. Ramchander Rao To Be New Telangana BJP Chief
Hyderabad: Senior leader N. Ramchander Rao is likely to be appointed as the new President of Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Telangana unit, party sources said on Monday. The party's central leadership is understood to have finalised Mr Rao as the State BJP President. A High Court advocate and former Member of Legislative Council (MLC), Rao will file the nomination for the post on Monday afternoon. With the Central leadership conveying its choice, no other leader is likely to enter the fray. Mr Rao is likely to be elected unanimously on Tuesday. Though Union Minister of State Bandi Sanjay and BJP MPs Eatala Rajender and Arvind Dharmapuri were seen as strong contenders for the post, the BJP's central leadership is believed to have preferred Ramchander Rao, a party loyalist and non-controversial figure. A Brahmin, Mr Rao had been active in Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and the legal cell of the BJP. He earlier headed the BJP's Hyderabad unit. A section of senior leaders of BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are understood to have backed the choice of Ramchander Rao. Meanwhile, reacting to reports of Ramchander Rao being picked as the next State BJP President, controversial leader and MLA T. Raja Singh said the state party President should be elected by party cadres. He added that his personal view is that from booth-level workers to senior leaders, the active members of the party should elect the President. The MLA from Goshamahal constituency in Hyderabad said that the party suffered damage in the past due to appointment of Presidents recommended by some people. The BJP on Sunday issued notification for election of new state unit chief. Nominations can be filed on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. while nominations can be withdrawn from 4 to 5 p.m. the same day. Union Minister of State for Ministry of Labour and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, will serve as the Returning Officer. Several top BJP leaders were seen as front-runners to succeed current state party President and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy. They included Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay, who was removed as the state BJP President before 2023 Assembly elections, MPs Arvind Dharmapuri, Eatala Rajender, K. Laxman and D.K. Aruna. Union Minister Kishan Reddy was appointed State BJP President ahead of 2023 Assembly elections, replacing Bandi Sanjay. He led the party in Assembly elections and in 2024 Lok Sabha polls. While the BJP could win just eight seats in 119-member Assembly, it improved its performance in Lok Sabha polls to double the tally of seats to eight. After BJP retained power at the Centre, Union Minister Kishan Reddy was re-inducted into the Cabinet. A change in the state leadership has been on cards for several months.

States/UTs to borrow Rs 2.86 lakh crore in Jul-Sep quarter: RBI
States and Union Territories combined will raise about Rs 2.86 lakh crore from markets in the quarter July-September 2025, the Reserve Bank of India ( RBI ) has indicated. The expected market borrowing plans have been decided upon by the RBI after consulting with the State Governments/Union Territories. The gross market borrowing of Rs 8.00 lakh crore shall be completed through 26 weekly auctions, a Ministry of Finance statement had indicated way back in March. The market borrowing will be spread over 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 30, 40 and 50-year securities. Live Events The share of borrowing (including SGrBs) under different maturities will be: 3-year (5.3%), 5-year (11.3%), 7-year (8.2%), 10-year (26.2%), 15-year (14.0%), 30-year (10.5%), 40-year (14.0%) and 50-year (10.5%), the March finance ministry statement noted. Presenting the Union Budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had pegged the 2025-26 fiscal deficit target at 4.4 per cent of GDP for the financial year 2025-26, versus the revised 4.8 per cent in 2024-25. The government intends to bring the fiscal deficit below 4.5 per cent of GDP by the end of the financial year 2025-26. The difference between total revenue and total expenditure of the government is termed the fiscal deficit. It is an indication of the total borrowings that the government may need. As announced in the Union budget on February 1, the government plans to borrow Rs 15.4 lakh crore from the market during FY 2025-26. The government aims to use its market borrowings for capital expenditure as it is largely non-inflationary.
