Katie Taylor full of praise for 'genius' father Pete after Amanda Serrano win

Katie Taylor was full of praise for her father Pete as she secured a decisive third victory over Amanda Serrano in front of a packed Madison Square Garden.
The Bray boxer won via majority decision in the most clear-cut victory of the trilogy, a vintage performance.
Taylor is trained full-time by Ross Enamait, but did reunite with her father Pete for parts of her preparations and was asked about his influence.
Speaking to IFL TV, she said: "He was a big part of this camp and [I'm] super grateful. Obviously, Ross was always super. Between Ross and my Dad, I have the best people in my corner, the two best I could ever ask for. Genius coaches."
Katie and Pete endured a rocky relationship following his split with Katie's mother, Bridget, in 2016, with their working relationship coming to an end. Katie would eventually team up with Enamait and move to the United States full-time to pursue her blossoming professional career.
The pair patched things up in 2019, and Pete shared videos on social media of the two of them in training as he helped with her preparations.
Taylor was ecstatic in her post-fight interview, where she praised the Irish support at Madison Square Garden.
"Thank God, another great win," she said. "It was a clear victory, and I was able to box a bit smarter tonight.
"Even at the public weigh-in, I couldn't believe the amount of Irish people that were there. I knew it was going to be jammed, listening to the crowd, it gives you goosebumps. People are spending their hard-earned money to support me, it means so much to me.
"Like I said, I represent my country every time I step into that ring and it's amazing they are all here to support me."
Taylor silenced any of the few remaining critics with her performance in Madison Square Garden on Friday night. The Olympic Gold medal winner scored a 97-93 win on two of the judges' scorecards as she took a more disciplined approach to her trilogy bout.
Criticised for leading with the head in their second bout, Taylor did not get involved in a brawl against Serrano and used her exquisite skill to earn a patient points victory.
Now 39, Taylor said that she will make her decision on her future in the coming weeks but with the big-money bouts against Serrano now over it seems like an ideal time to hang up the gloves.
If Taylor is to fight again, the most logical next match-up would be a trilogy bout against Chantelle Cameron in Dublin.
