Omani-Tanzanian business forum explores investment opportunities

Muscat- Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) today organized the Omani-Tanzanian Business Forum to enhance economic cooperation and open new investment prospects for business owners in the Sultanate of Oman and the United Republic of Tanzania.
The event was held on the sidelines of a visit by a Tanzanian delegation led by Dr. Hashil Twibo Abdullah, Permanent Secretary of Trade and Industry in the United Republic of Tanzania.
The forum highlighted available investment opportunities in both countries, along with key incentives and benefits offered to investors, while also reviewing the economic environment.
It included a roundtable meeting with Omani business owners interested in investing in Tanzania, where both sides discussed prominent investment and trade opportunities, ways to strengthen joint cooperation, and the exchange of expertise. They also explored mechanisms to overcome potential challenges, contributing to building effective and fruitful partnerships and enhancing the presence of Omani investments in Tanzania's promising markets.
Dr. Hashil Twibo Abdullah emphasized that the delegation's visit to Oman included meetings with several public and private sector officials, as well as discussions on promoting investment in the Sultanate of Oman.
In a statement to journalists, he noted the abundance of investment opportunities in Tanzania, along with incentives and facilities, stressing the long-standing historical ties between the two countries.
On his turn, Eng. Hamoud Salim Al Saadi, Second Deputy Chairman of the OCCI Board of Directors and Chairman of the Chamber's South Al Batinah Branch, stated that the relations between Oman and Tanzania are deeply rooted in history, built on foundations of mutual trade and cultural cooperation.
He added that the forum focused on a range of vital and promising sectors that offer real opportunities for investment and shared growth, providing a fertile environment for strategic partnerships that enhance trade exchange and expand cooperation between the two countries.
Eng. Al Saadi affirmed that the roundtable meetings with Omani business owners were a key opportunity to open direct dialogue channels with the Tanzanian delegation, exploring joint cooperation and investment prospects. He urged leveraging such vital meetings for effective communication, idea exchange, and partnership exploration to strengthen Oman's economic presence in Tanzania's promising market.
The forum was attended by Fatima Mohammed Rajab, Ambassador of Tanzania to Oman, Said Al Ismaili, Head of the Omani side in the Omani-Tanzanian Business Council, and several Omani and Tanzanian business owners.

He highlighted the private sector's pivotal role in driving future cooperation through strategic partnerships and high-quality projects that align with both countries' development visions—"Oman Vision 2040" and "Bahrain 2030"—while praising the efforts of the Oman-Bahrain Investment Company and the Oman-Bahrain Friendship Society in strengthening bilateral ties. The meeting was attended by several OCCI board members, executive officials, and representatives from both sides.

State Council reviews study on diversifying Oman's sources of income

Muscat – The State Council discussed a study titled 'Mechanism for Diversifying Sources of Income in the Sultanate of Oman' during its fifth meeting on Monday. The meeting was chaired by H E Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council. The study reviewed the current state of the Omani economy and existing sources of national income. It also outlined international experiences in tackling challenges related to income diversification and financial sustainability. Concluding the discussion, the study stressed the importance of exploring future opportunities and provided recommendations for diversifying income sources across various economic sectors. The Council also reviewed a report by the Social and Cultural Committee regarding its meeting with officials from the Social Protection Fund to discuss mechanisms for implementing the social protection system. Additionally, the Council's bureau reviewed reports submitted by members following their participation in regional and international forums, along with updates on ongoing progress reports
