Govt spending Rs 32,000 cr per annum on pensions
Nellore: MA&UD Minister P Narayana distributed NTR Bharosa pensions at third division of Jaffer Saheb Kaluvakatta area in the city on Saturday. He said that the government has been spending Rs 32,000 crore per annum on pensions to 68 lakh people in the entire State.
The Minister said that at present 6,000 students are studying in municipal schools in all 54 divisions. It was proposed to increase the number up to 10,000 from current educational year. All municipal schools would be transformed as corporate schools, he added.
Alleging that several industries that were established during TDP regime in 2014 left the State due to the harassment by the previous YSRCP government, Narayana stated that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Human Resources Development Minister N Lokesh are striving hard to provide 20 lakh jobs to the unemployed youth by bringing back these industries to the State again.

Parents of a 12- year-old child who allegedly worked as a child labour at Rajkot in Gujarat have filed a police complaint against his employers at Kalna police station in West Bengal's Bardhaman district, alleging severe torture during the child's stay in Gujarat. Doctors treating the child at the State run health facility said that the condition of the child was stable. An officer at the Kalna Police Station said that the police complaint was filed on June 3, where the parents alleged that the child was tortured in Bihar. The Trinamool Cogress leadership accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of Gujarat of perpetuating child labour. 'In PM @narendramodi 's Double Engine state Gujarat, child labour is not only perpetuated but also accompanied by dehumanising treatment! .... a young child from Kalna, was forced to work in a jewellery factory in Gujarat, where he was brutally assaulted, resulting in severe injuries and lasting trauma,' the Trinamool Congress tweeted. Trinamool Congress leader Purba Bardhaman Swapan Debnath met the family of the child and expressed support to the family. The West Bengal government claims that there are no instances of child labour in the state, though children from Odisha and Bihar have been rescued from brick kilns in the State. Several teenagers from West Bengal have also been rescued from jewellery making units of Tamil Nadu where they were working as ' bonded labours'.

Defence testing lab to come up at Sidco estate in Trichy
1 2 Trichy: Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (Tidco) has finalised a 1.4 acre site inside Thuvakudi Small Industries development Corporation (Sidco) industrial estate near NIT Trichy to develop Advancing Mechanical & Material Defence Testing lab at an outlay of Rs 50 crore. The integrated testing facility will function under public-private collaboration involving major public sector companies including BEML and HAL to engage in high-end testing and certification of materials for aerospace and defence companies in the state. Proposed under Defence Testing Infrastructure Scheme (DTIS), the lab, named System Testing and Research in Advanced Material (STREAM) foundation, will have comprehensive infrastructure comprising at least 40 testing machinery on 13,000 square feet floor space. As the state govt already has a built-up space of 3,000 square feet in Thuvakudi Sidco complex, Tidco has simultaneously launched procurement procedures to buy material testing equipment while expanding the built-up space. "The aerospace and defence testing lab will decentralize the investment and boost Tamil Nadu's leadership in defence and aerospace sector. Once the facility becomes operational, testing requirements will be satisfied locally, said Tidco officials. "The material testing lab in Thuvakudi is set to play an important role in the state's industrial ecosystem. Skill development service for workers will be provided at the lab. Volume of production done by local companies will certainly increase. Initially, around 30-40 people will be employed in the testing lab," Angayasamy Subbiah, managing partner, Vaidheswaran industries, an industry partner of the proposed STREAM Lab, said. The proposed common testing facility will provide quality certification and validation services for local industries to manufacture products for major defence and aerospace companies. "Not only defence and aerospace, even ancillary units of Bhel Trichy will benefit since material grade and quality testing is a key component in manufacturing," N Kanagasabapathy, coordinator, Bhel small-scale industries (Bhelsia), said. The integrated testing lab is set to become operational by December. Tidco said that the lab will run as a non-profit company, generating revenue only to sustain the operations and maintenance.

YSRCP protests against NDA govt's ‘betrayal' of people
1 2 Vijayawada: YSRCP leaders and cadres took to the streets across the state on Wednesday to participate in the 'betrayal day' protest, called by party supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy .
