Ojeda scores 2 goals, ties a franchise record as Orlando beats Revolution 2-1
Ojeda, on the counter-attack, scored on a first-touch shot off a pass from Iván Angulo to give Orlando a 2-1 lead in the 58th minute.
Ojeda has 12 goals and 10 assists this season and his 22 goal contributions are tied the record set in 2019 by Luís Carlos 'Nani' Almeida da Cunha. Ojeda has 25 career goals and moved past Ricardo 'Kaká' Izecson dos Santos Leite (24) into fifth on the club's all-time regular season list.
Ojeda opened the scoring in the 18th minute, the 26-year-old designated player's 10th consecutive game with a goal contribution. Eduard Atuesta played an arcing pass from beyond midfield to Ojeda, who slipped behind the defense and beat goalkeeper Aljaz Ivacic to the ball and then flicked it into a wide-open net to make it 1-0.
Tomás Chancalay, who replaced Tanner Beason at halftime, faked a shot to freeze the defense and then rolled a shot from the left side of the area inside the near post in the 55th.
Pedro Gallese had two saves for Orlando (10-6-8)
New England (6-10-7)
Orlando City, which snapped an eight-game winless streak at New England on July 13, 2024 with a 3-1 win over the Revs, has won back-to-back at Gillette Stadium.
The Revolution are 6-2-2 with a plus-12 (23-11) goal differential all time at home against Orlando.
The teams played to a 3-3 tie on May 10.

Notre Dame loses TE Kevin Bauman and RB Kedren Young to season-ending knee injuries
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Notre Dame announced Saturday that sixth-year tight end Kevin Bauman and second-year running back Kedren Young suffered season-ending knee injuries in practice this week. Notre Dame already was without Charles Jagusah, its projected right guard, after he was injured in a utility task vehicle accident in Wyoming last month. Jagusah had surgery to repair a broken humerus bone in his left arm, and coach Marcus Freeman said last week he's hopeful Jagusah will play this season. But Bauman won't play this year because of an articular cartilage injury in his left knee, which will require surgery. He also announced on social media this is the end of his football career. 'Unfortunately, I have suffered yet another season-ending injury. I have been struggling to let it all soak in,' Baumann wrote on Instagram. 'I have taken a few days and prayed about it. While my football journey has come to an end, I can confidently say the rest of my life is just getting started.' Bauman had his 2021 cut short because of an injury, missed all but three games in 2022 and all of 2023 because of injuries. He appeared in all 14 games last season and was expected to play a more significant role this season after Mitchell Evans was selected in the fifth round of April's NFL draft. He caught six passes for 67 yards and one touchdown. 'Notre Dame means everything to me: opportunity, growth, resilience,' Bauman wrote. 'I have made incredible connections and, most importantly, I have grown my faith to the strongest it has ever been. This place is so special.' Tight end Cooper Flanagan also is being held out of practice as he continues to recover from an injured Achilles tendon, which he suffered against Georgia during Notre Dame's playoff run. Freeman said he's optimistic about Flanagan returning this year. Young's career was just getting started when he tore anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee this week. The former Texas prep star rushed for 116 yards in seven games last season with the Fighting Irish. He was expected to add depth to an already stacked backfield. Young broke Lufkin High School's career rushing record before arriving at Notre Dame. Darwin Nunez leaves Premier League champion Liverpool for Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal
The Saudi Arabian soccer league has secured its latest marquee signing after Darwin Nunez completed a move from Liverpool to Al-Hilal on Saturday. The Uruguay international cost a reported 46.3 million pounds ($62 million) and has signed a three-year contract. Al-Hilal — Saudi Arabia's most successful team — has been searching for another star signing after releasing Brazil great Neymar in January. Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes rejected a move before the Club World Cup in June and there was also reported interest in former Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. Nunez leaves Liverpool after a mixed time in the Premier League, where he produced some spectacular moments but could not establish himself as the Merseyside club's first-choice center forward. He scored 40 goals in 143 games and won the Premier League title last season. But he made only one league start from the turn of the year and scored just seven goals in 47 total appearances last term. In a summer when Liverpool has reinforced its attack with the signings of Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz, along with reported interest in Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, Nunez's position had been in doubt. He follows a slew of players who have left Europe's top leagues for Saudi Arabia since Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Al Nassr in 2022. Karim Benzema, Sadio Mane and Riyad Mahrez are some of the high-profile names to make the switch as Saudi Arabia has mounted an ambitious recruitment drive to establish itself as a major player in global soccer. J.J. McCarthy plays a series in Vikings' preseason opener, has a decent outing
There is plenty of interest in how J.J. McCarthy is doing in Minnesota Vikings camp and how he'll look in the preseason. The first preseason game of the season didn't solve any mysteries. McCarthy, Minnesota's first-round pick in 2024 who missed all of last season with a knee injury and is taking over as the team's starting quarterback this season, played just one series against the Houston Texans on Saturday. McCarthy was fine, throwing inaccurately a couple times but doing enough to move the offense and get a field goal. The reports on McCarthy out of training camp have been that he has been up and down, going against the tough, aggressive Vikings defense in practice. Saturday's preseason game was mostly a forgettable and short outing. McCarthy's longest pass was a 18-yard gain to Jordan Addison, though it wasn't a great pass. McCarthy moved slightly to his left in the pocket and threw a bit inaccurately to Jordan Addison. But Addison made a nice diving catch for the first down. It wasn't a perfect throw but it got the job done. McCarthy missed a pass over the middle on third down, throwing wildly to Lucky Jackson. But the Vikings went for it on fourth down and McCarthy scrambled to his right and picked up the first down. The drive stalled when McCarthy threw to running back Jordan Mason over the middle on third down under pressure and it was knocked away. Mason would have been short of the first down anyway. The Vikings kicked a field goal. McCarthy went 4 of 7 for 30 yards on the drive. It wasn't as exciting as his one preseason outing last year, when he had 188 yards and two touchdowns, but it was decent. The Vikings chose to not pay Sam Darnold after he had a very good 2024 season and became a free agent, instead moving forward with McCarthy, the 10th pick of last year's draft. They'll be second-guessed if it doesn't work out, after going 14-3 and making the playoffs last season. McCarthy comes into this season as a bit of an unknown, in terms of how he'll perform as an NFL starting quarterback. Not much got answered against Houston on Saturday.
