Gaza infant dies of hunger at just 11 months old
Just 11 months old, Udai Ahmed's short life came to a tragic end this week, TRT reported.
On the 47th day of the Israel Occupation's ongoing blockade, Udai died from hunger and a lack of access to basic medical care.
His story is one of countless others — children caught in the crossfire of war, stripped of the most fundamental necessities to survive.
Children under the age of one are bearing the brunt of "Israel's" aggression, with medical sources confirming that at least eight babies froze to death during the harsh winter months earlier this year.
Without fuel to heat homes, and with shelters overcrowded and under-equipped, infants have been left particularly vulnerable to the cold, disease, and starvation.
On Thursday, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that no humanitarian aid has entered the Gaza Strip since March 2.
In a series of posts on X, the agency said this is the longest aid cutoff since the war began, three times longer than the blockade imposed in October 2023.

UNRWA warns of famine in Gaza as US-backed group loses control
ALBAWABA—UNRWA head Philippe Lazzarini warned on Wednesday that the situation in the Gaza Strip is heading 'towards famine,' AFP reported. Also Read Chaos and accusations mar U.S.-run aid plans in Gaza Lazzarini also decried the food aid distribution plan led by the newly established Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which is backed by the United States, after it lost control during its second day of operations, as it could not intake hundreds of thousands of Gazans. "At one moment in the late afternoon, the volume of people at the SDS [secure distribution centre] was such that the GHF team fell back to allow a small number of Palestinians in Gaza to take aid safely and dissipate," the foundation explained in a statement. Displaced Palestinians receive food packages from a US-backed foundation pledging to distribute humanitarian aid in western Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip on May 27, 2025. (AFP) "I believe it is a waste of resources and a distraction from atrocities. We already have an aid distribution system that is fit for purpose," Lazzarini revealed in Japan. The United Nations confirmed that at least 47 people were injured during aid distribution in Gaza. Yesterday, the UNRWA head met the Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and posted on X: "We also spoke about the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, where half a million people face starvation. We stressed that the humanitarian imperative must guide our collective response & that lifting the siege must not be delayed any longer."

UNRWA: 92% of Homes in Gaza Damaged or Destroyed - Jordan News
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) announced on Monday that assessments confirm 92% of homes in the Gaza Strip have been either damaged or completely destroyed, displacing countless residents. اضافة اعلان According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the Israeli war on Gaza has resulted in the damage or destruction of approximately 436,000 homes, amounting to about 92% of the total housing stock in the enclave. Health and Environmental Disaster Looming OCHA warned on its official website that the delay in removing an estimated 50 million tons of rubble and recovering the bodies trapped beneath poses not only severe psychological trauma for bereaved families but also imminent health and environmental disasters in Gaza—one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Waste and Debris Removal Halted Recent Israeli strikes have also targeted heavy machinery across Gaza, halting critical services, including solid waste management and debris removal, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and increasing the risk of disease outbreaks.
