Former X Factor stars tie knot in Scottish ceremony nine years after appearing on show

The couple, who first appeared on The X Factor in 2014, had an intimate wedding ceremony near Glasgow in a special nod to their Scots roots on the big day. Two former X Factor stars have tied the knot in a stunning Scottish celebration, as they said 'I do' at an intimate venue near Glasgow at the weekend. The pair were last seen on the ITV talent show after nearly a decade from being on our screens. ‌ Glasgow singer Emily Middlemas featured on X Factor back in 2014 but didn't progress to the live performances. She made a comeback two years on and not only reached the semi-final, but also shared the journey with her partner, Ryan Lawrie. ‌ The teen sweethearts had started their romance in 2015, and Emily was left devastated when Ryan, from Coatbridge, was left walking following a sing-off against controversial rapper Honey G. ‌ Thankfully, it was only tears of joy on Friday, August 15, as the pair exchanged vows in a ceremony close to Glasgow. Emily, 26, posted a collection of snaps from her special day on Instagram alongside the caption: "Mr & Mrs Lawrie." The singer, who performs under the stage name ili, appeared radiant in a graceful wedding dress featuring a sweetheart neckline. Ryan, who composes tracks for fellow artists and is known as KoolKid, of course sported a kilt in a nod to his roots. One image showed Ryan lifting his bride and dipping her back for a romantic kiss at the altar, whilst another showed the loved-up newlyweds giggling as they snuggled on the lawn in the bright sunshine. The duo were also photographed taking to the dance floor at their reception for their special first dance, surrounded by their loved ones who gathered around. Emily changed into a second outfit so she could truly let loose on the dance floor. She sported a short strapless white dress adorned with pearls, paired with a silver set of Crocs. ‌ Following their vows, Ryan shared the wedding photos and an image of their new 'Mr and Mrs' mugs on social media. He penned: "Thank you to everyone who attended our big day & for all your beautiful cards/gifts. It means the world to us. Lots of love." Their marriage follows Ryan's proposal at the Giza Pyramids in Egypt in June 2022, three years before. The couple announced the news on Instagram while on holiday at the Giza Pyramids in Egypt. ‌ Emily said in her post: "I SAID YES. Also, dying, the mascara runs." Ryan also shared the pictures on his profile at the time, titling it "SHE SAID YES". Glasgow-based singer Emily shot to fame when she finished in fourth place in the thirteenth series of The X Factor. Ryan is known for writing hits like Microcosmos, for one of the world's biggest bands BTS.

Noel Gallagher makes brutal dig at Royal Family on stage at Croke Park

Oasis have been enjoying rave review on their 2025 live tour - but things turned sour on Sunday night when Noel Gallagher and his brother took to the stage in Dublin Noel Gallagher found himself on the receiving end of some savage boos when he took to the stage for Oasis's final night in Ireland on their current 2025 tour. The 58-year-old was performing the second of two nights at Croke Park in Ireland when he appeared to anger his audience. ‌ Before performing Half The World Away on Sunday night, Noel - who stunned fans last year when he reunited with brother Liam Gallagher to announce the current Oasis Live '25 Tour, asked: "Anyone from Manchester?" However, he hadn't anticipated the response, as the crowd started booing. ‌ Shocked by the response, he added: "Excuse me, excuse me? Booing for the people in Manchester? Oh no, no, no, no, that won't do! Be nice!" ‌ As he introduced Half The World Away, he said: "This is for the Royle Family – the real Royal Family," a swipe at the House of Windsor. Ahead of Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee, he said he wasn't "anti-royal" but noted that the "appeal" of the monarchy had been "dwindling". "There are other things for people to be interested in," he commented, before branding the monarchy as "a bit farcical." The frosty response from the audience in Dublin could not keep down a successful weekend for Noel and Liam - who played two sold out gigs at the iconic Irish venue - which can house over 80,000 audience members at a time. They performed to a packed crowd on Saturday night - which included some family members in the audience. Liam revealed that his mother, Peggy, was watching from the stands on Saturday as he dedicated a track to her. Before performing Stand By Me, he told the audience: "This one I want to dedicate to my mum, my mum is here tonight." Proud mum Peggy has been supporting her sons since they decided to put aside their differences to perform for fans after a hiatus that began in 2009. In an interview in June, the Gallagher Mawas asked if she had anything to do with the reunion between Noel and Liam. She said: "I was the instigator, yes. But sure, wasn't it always going to happen at some time or other? It was their choice, of course. Look, you can't force them to do things they don't want to do."
