The Dark Blues wanted to build a new hub facility at the Riverside, transforming the current pitches and adding a new artificial surface with a small stadium.
Dundee council approved their proposal last year - with club officials saying at the time that the trust had secured investment through the Scottish FA's Grassroots Pitch and Facilities Fund which would be matched by the Keyes family.
But those plans were put into disarray when they lost a legal battle with protesters.
Pressure group Save Riverside Park challenged the decision in the courts - claiming the development would affect flood defences, and breach environmental rights.
And with the local authority opting not to oppose the action, the Court of Session came down AGAINST Dundee.
That means the Dens Park men will have to decide whether to put forward a new plan for the same site or look elsewhere.
But the really bad news for them is that as it stands they've now LOST the SFA funding for the proposal.
As the award had to be spent over the 2023-24 and 2024-25 financial years and wasn't delivered in this period, the cash was simply withdrawn and reallocated to alternative projects.
And applications for this year's fund have already closed.
A Dundee spokesperson, as quoted in the Courier, said: 'Dundee FC Community Trust and Dundee Football Club are aware of the current situation regarding the application and funding for the football training centre and community hub at the Riverside Pitches.
'Both the trust and the football club are working together to explore the best course of action going forward for the football training centre and community hub which will serve the people of Dundee in many different ways.'

Legendary jockey Kieren Fallon tips ‘overlooked' superstar to stun them all in £1.5million King George
Victory would see the horse smash the £11million career earnings mark ROM COM Legendary jockey Kieren Fallon tips 'overlooked' superstar to stun them all in £1.5million King George Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LEGENDARY jockey Kieren Fallon has tipped an 'overlooked' superstar to stun them all in Saturday's £1.5million King George. The blockbuster Ascot Group 1 is being billed as a mouthwatering rematch between Coronation Cup 1-2 Jan Brueghel and Calandagan. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Rebel's Romance ridden by William Buick on their way to winning the Hardwicke Stakes during day five of Royal Ascot Credit: PA Aidan O'Brien's runner got the better of the French raider that day but the market has Calandagan reversing the form this time. Nestled behind them in the betting is Andrew Balding's Kalpana, who will get 3lb from the big boys. But Fallon, who won the King George on Golan in 2002, is happy to bypass the market leaders and go for one at an each-way price, even if bookies are only paying two places. The six-time champion jockey is drawn to the chances of globetrotting sensation and 6-1 fancy Rebel's Romance. The Charlie Appleby-trained, Godolphin-owned hero has won more than £10m in his career and finished first in three of four races this year. Most recent of those was his Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes victory at Royal Ascot. King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes odds Saturday's feature will pit the best of the best against each over 1m4f. Here's how the bookies currently have it... 13-8 Calandagan 7-4 Jan Brueghel 9-2 Kalpana 6-1 Rebel's Romance 12-1 Lambourn 16-1 Whirl 33-1 Green Impact 100-1 Continuous Not only did that salvage what was turning into a disastrous week for Appleby, but it confirmed he loves the Berkshire track in the summer. Fallon reckons everything points towards conditions suiting again on Saturday. And he thinks Rebel's Romance, despite being three years older than Jan Brueghel and Calandagan, has plenty of miles left in the tank. He said on Sky Sports Racing: "I would love to ride Rebel's Romance - he's a monster, a beautiful, big, genuine horse. "He's coming into the race strong after his Royal Ascot win. "His confidence will be very high." Former jockey Seb Sanders agreed that Rebel's Romance was 'overlooked' in the market. Fallon added: "Jan Brueghel is tough but I think Rebel's Romance, if he turns up, is going to be a hard horse to beat. "He looks amazing, is lightly raced and is doing everything right at home. "After his last run he will only improve, he didn't have a hard race and it was a confidence booster for him." Paul beat former middleweight champ Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, 39, in June and now wants to face AJ next year. The American made his heavyweight debut last November for a controversial spectacle bout against Mike Tyson - who returned aged 58. And although he won over eight, shorter two-minute rounds with over 100 MILLION watching on Netflix - Chisora warned Joshua is a different story. My kids didn't even know Mike Tyson. But now they know Mike Tyson. "Listen, Jake Paul is doing so many great things for boxing, I don't care what anybody he says. He should fight Roy Jones next. "I would tell him not to fight Joshua. Because Joshua would actually smoke him out for the sake of it. Already Paul has met with Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh in New York to discuss the bout. Alalshikh was once critical of Paul's boxing career and opponents - but the two appear to have made amends. And Chisora added: "I remember when Turki Alalshikh said he's not promoting YouTube boxing. "I thought, why did you say that? Doesn't he know the force of these young guys; Jake Paul, KSI, Logan Paul, Speed. "These guys are mega Gods in the YouTube game. They don't need anybody. Fast forward later on, he's taking photos with Jake Paul, KSI, Speed. "He realised he can't beat these young kids. So what do you do? Fears for F1 race with circuit DAMAGED by raging storms as floodwater appears to rip up part of the track
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) DUTCH Grand Prix chiefs have released a statement after a viral image on social media appeared to show the Circuit Zandvoort badly damaged by recent storms. Earlier this week, a Formula One fan shared a worrying video of what appeared to be a gaping hole in the track and a river of floodwater running through it. However, chiefs at Max Verstappen's home track have quickly scoffed at reports and claimed the track has already been used since the picture went viral. And another fan who shared the picture of the damanged track even suggested it may have been an "optical illusion". An official statement from Zandvoort read: "Yesterday's heavy rain sparked some fake news about damage to the circuit. "Early this morning our team inspected the entire layout and found no damage, no delays. "The surface is dry, clean, and 100 percent race-ready. "In fact, since this morning, the F1 Academy has been out on track for their scheduled practice sessions without any issues. "All sessions are running exactly as planned. See you at the circuit!" CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS The fan who shared the worrying picture later posted another of the track looking in great condition - and hit back at claims the image she posted was "fake". She captioned the post: "The [original] picture is NOT fake I promise. Infamous abandoned F1 track that left icon blind in one eye used for completely different sport "Zandvoort is okay, you guys. "The picture made it look worse than it was. The water and sand created an illusion. "Good work to the people at Zandvoort." Before heading to the Netherlands, F1 stars will take on Belgium's famous Spa circuit this weekend, before a trip to Hungary a week later as Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris look to continue their dominance in their McLarens. Drivers will then enjoy a four-week, mid-season break before tackling Zandvoort for the penultimate time. Earlier this summer, it was confirmed the circuit would only host two more races, in 2025 and 2026, before disappearing from the calendar.
