England's Euro 2025 Champions Get Heroes' Welcome With Surprise Guests
Led by a marching band along the iconic Mall and later serenaded on stage by music stars Burna Boy and Heather Small, England's players and staff partied in front of Buckingham Palace.
"I was crying all the way down The Mall. This is unbelievable. This is probably one of the best things we've ever been a part of," said captain Leah Williamson, fighting back more tears.
England made history by becoming the country's first national soccer team across the men's and women's game to win a tournament on foreign soil with the penalty shootout victory against world champion Spain in Basel on Sunday.
Arriving on two open-top buses with "Champions" emblazoned on them, the players waved to the fans who, wearing face paint and waving flags, had lined the streets to welcome their heroes.
"We didn't really know what to expect coming into it today, but everyone was so excited on the bus and it was so nice to come back to England and celebrate with our fans," said Alessia Russo, who scored England's equalizing goal in the final, which ended 1-1 after extra time. "It's just a bit surreal. It's crazy to see this many people come out in the home of England, in London, heading up to Buckingham Palace, I'd never have dreamt of anything like it."
The central band of the Royal Air Force got the atmosphere going — playing England soccer anthems "Three Lions" and "Sweet Caroline."
There was more music on stage with a special surprise for Wiegman, who is a fan of Burna Boy. The Nigerian Afro-fusion star joined her to sing his hit song "For my Hand," with Wiegman dancing along and joining in.
The Dutch coach completed a three-peat of Euros titles, having previously won with her native Netherlands in 2017 and England in 2022.
She has a remarkable record of reaching the final of her last five major tournaments as coach of the Netherlands and England.
"I hoped for a little less chaos," she said of the her latest triumph, which featured comebacks from England in each of the knockout rounds through to the final. "They just showed up when it was really necessary."
Heather Small was next on stage to sing "Proud" with England's players joining in again before lifting the trophy in front of the thousands of fans who had gathered, with fireworks filling the sky.
For Williamson, triumph was another benchmark as she became the first England captain to lift two major trophies.
"Obviously we do it for us and our team, but we do it for the country and for young girls. This job never existed 30, 40 years ago and we are making history every single step," she said.

The Ravens and Colts will get reacquainted Thursday night after a spirited and punch-filled joint practice on Tuesday that saw star cornerback Nate Wiggins ejected for joining a brawl in defense of his teammates. The Ravens have a dominant roster, with ten players landing in the top ten rankings from ESPN's positional poll. Baltimore has few holes on the roster, and even less opportunity for an under-the-radar or veteran player to steal a job or cause a surprise cut. With the intense and fiery teams set for an intriguing preseason matchup, we're looking at ten players on the roster bubble to watch. RB Rasheen Ali Baltimore didn't draft a running back and only has four players on the roster at the position. Henry is an All-Pro, Justice Hill is a solid No. 2 running back, and Keaton Mitchell provides a home run threat. Ali needs a strong preseason to warrant the Ravens carrying four running backs. WR Malik Cunningham Baltimore has ten wide receivers on the roster after selecting Colorado's LaJohntay Wester in Round 6. Cunningham is the only player in the position who is not a natural wide receiver but offers special-teams abilities. Cunningham needs an intense training camp to warrant a roster spot over Dayton Wade, Anthony Miller, and Keith Kirkwood. TE Zaire Mitchell-Paden Baltimore has a big three at the tight end position, and two of the top players in the league. Charlie Kolar is the clear No. 3, making things difficult for Mitchell-Paden. DT-C.J. Okoye Okoye, a Nigerian native, first joined the Chargers as part of the International Player Pathway Program. He had a sack in his first organized football game in the preseason. He'll compete in a position group that includes Nnamdi Madubuike, Travis Jones, John Jenkins, and Jayson Jones. OL Ben Cleveland Cleveland saw action in all 17 regular-season games as a backup at left guard, plus both playoff contests. The 2021 third-round pick finished the final year of his rookie deal and had no major suitors on the open market. Baltimore added three players to the NFL draft and has solid depth in key positions. Cleveland could be the odd man out if Emery Jones, Carson Vinson, or Garrett Dellinger established themselves at the offensive guard position. LB-William Kwenkeu Kwenkeu is the only player signed to a reserve/futures deal who saw regular-season game action in 2024, as he was elevated twice and played 33 special-teams snaps (vs. Eagles and Giants). DB Beau Brade Last summer, Brade made the Ravens' 53-man roster as an undrafted rookie free agent after starring at River Hill High School and the University of Maryland. In the games he appeared in, Brade was mainly relegated to special teams roles and only saw the field on defense late in the fourth quarter of games where victory was well in hand. Brade recorded just three total tackles, including just one solo, and played 207 snaps on special teams compared to just 11 on defense. He was inactive for both playoff games. Edge Rusher Adisa Isaac Kyle Van Noy and Odafe Oweh are the unquestioned starters, but the Ravens are hoping 2024 third-round pick Adisa Isaac can take the next step. Isaac saw action in four games and played 32 defensive snaps, as his NFL debut was delayed by a hamstring issue, which sidelined him for the Ravens' first two games. DB T.J. Tampa Tampa only played seven games in his 2024 rookie campaign season. Hampered by an ankle injury that plagued him since Oct. 24, the former Iowa State star couldn't contribute in his first year, but he offers height, length, speed, and physicality. OL Corey Bullock Bullock was an honorable mention All-Big Ten after starting 11 games for the Terrapins in 2023. According to Pro Football Focus, Bullock was ranked as the second-highest-rated pass-blocking guard in the Big Ten conference, with a 79.6 grade via the Terrapins' official website. After a season spent on the Ravens' practice squad, he'll look to carve out a backup role.

Brazil dropped three positions and is seventh despite successfully defending the Copa America to win its ninth continental title. Sweden and France were big movers after impressive showings at the Euros. Sweden rose three places and is third after being eliminated on penalties by England in the quarterfinals. Fox to roll out FOX One all-in-one streaming service: ‘A truly innovative digital offering'
Fox Corp will enter the crowded streaming marketplace with its own direct-to-consumer platform that puts all of the media giant's brands under one app. FOX One, which targets cord-cutters or those who never subscribed to cable in the first place, will be available to consumers beginning Aug. 21. The service will cost $19.99 per month — or a discounted annual rate of $199.99, according to Fox Corp — the sister company of The Post's owner News Corp.
