Gordon Ramsay breaks silence on Gino D'Acampo allegations amid claims he turned back on co-star
Gordon Ramsay has finally commented on the subject of Gino D'Acampo in the wake of allegations of 'unacceptable' behaviour.
The TV chef has found himself at the centre of a firestorm after ITV News reported dozens of allegations against him, describing 'distressing' and 'horrendous' actions over a 12-year period.
He has strongly denied all wrongdoing and was reportedly furious with his Road Trip co-star Ramsay for allegedly 'orchestrating a smear campaign' against him.
Ramsay, who hosted the ITV travel series alongside D'Acampo and First Dates star Fred Sirieix from 2018 to 2023, has now addressed the subject for the first time, telling The Standard: 'I have reached out to Gino, checked in to make sure he and the family were doing OK. Fred too.'
D'Acampo is said to have been blindsided after reports alleged that Ramsay, whom he co-hosted travel series Road Trip with alongside Fred Sirieix, voiced concerns about his alleged behaviour behind the scenes.
'There has been a lot coming out about his time with Gordon Ramsay and it is very anti-Gino,' a source close to the star told MailOnline.
'One minute they are working together and the best of friends. Then he leaves the Road Trip series and he is basically finished within a couple of years.'
D'Acampo has been dropped by ITV – but the source said he 'feels hard done by' due to claims the channel encouraged him to cultivate a 'cheeky chappie' persona on shows, including daytime series This Morning.
'Gino was told to behave as he did, in that naughty boy manner,' a source told MailOnline.
'This is what he can't get his head around and he will be making that clear when he thinks it's time to speak out. He would be on Family Fortunes making cheeky jokes.
'There were incidents on This Morning in front of the cameras – such as when he kissed presenter Ruth [Langsford] in 2011 – which ITV and its viewers loved.'
D'Acampo has denied claims that he made sexualised comments and gestures to female employees behind the scenes of his popular programmes.
He said last month: 'I have never been made aware of these matters previously and the allegations are firmly denied. I would not do anything that I thought would upset or distress anyone. This is simply not in my nature. I do not recognise the version of events being put to me.
'Not only have these allegations never been raised with me before, I have been repeatedly supported by executives at the highest level and was commissioned on prime-time programmes during the period in which it is now suggested I was acting inappropriately.
'I take such matters extremely seriously and the suggestion that I have acted in an improper way against is deeply upsetting.'

Sue took a break from Corrie last year to star in Sister Act The Musical as Mother Superior and appeared in reality show I'm A Celebrity in 2022. Last year, Sue released her memoir A Work In Progress and revealed she was embracing being in her 60s.

Actress Sue Cleaver joined the ITV soap in 2000, when her character moved into number 11 with sons Jason and Todd Grimshaw. However, some fans weren't impressed with her exit scenes. The character quickly became a fan favourite, winning numerous awards for her portrayal of the role, and her feud with Gail Platt (Helen Worth) will go down in history. However, after 25 years, it was time for Eileen to wave goodbye to Weatherfield, and hello to Thailand as she made a big move. It comes after a tough time for the character, who was being suspected in her sister Julie's tragic death. In tonight's episode, Eileen was cleared by the police of any wrongdoing in Julie's death. She then decided to make the move to Thailand, and invest in her son Jason's bar. It wasn't the only big change for the character, as she ended her relationship with George after admitting she only loved him as a friend. In her final scenes, Eileen who worked at the StreetCars taxi service alongside Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), was seen hopping into the back of his cab with Jason. Showing their appreciation, Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) and the other cabbies lined up the taxis on the street, honking their horns and saluting her as she waved out the window. Despite the 'touching' scenes, some fans weren't happy about the exit Eileen was given after 25 years, as they expected more. One penned: "This will go down in history as one of the most drawn out exits ever," as another wrote: "This is a dreadful last episode for a long term character." "Well, that send off, wasn't very exciting," tweeted a third, while another agreed: "Goodness. Eileen's exit storyline is very, very, VERY bland." However, others took to the social media platform to praise the exit. "Wow todays episode of Corrie had me happy crying what an ending for an iconic character," wrote one fan, as another said: "Loved how all the taxis lined the street to wave eileen off. Nice touch." Previously speaking about her exit scenes, Sue gushed that the ITV soap had given her "the perfect ending."
