Vicky Kaushal's father recalls raising family in a 10×10 chawl, weeping in front of him after being insulted at work: ‘We slept on a chatai'
In an interview with Aman Aujla on YouTube, Sham Kaushal said, 'I never put any pressure on my sons. I told them to do what made them happy, the only thing I said to them was, 'Be good human beings'. One of the biggest principles in life is that a child will learn what they see around them. Vicky and Sunny saw it all. How will a child remain honest if the parents are crooks? But if you're truly honest, you don't need to teach them anything; their impression of life will form by itself. They will grow to learn that life is meant to be lived with honesty.'

He continued, 'They were both born in a 10×10 chawl. We used to sleep on a thin mattress on a cement floor. Then we moved to a bigger chawl with two rooms. Then we moved into a flat. They've seen my journey with their own eyes. They didn't have to be told about how hard life is. They've seen me when I owned a motorcycle, and then a bought a second-hand Fiat car. I would come home in the evening and cry in front of them if someone had insulted me at work. I think it's foolish for a man to hide his emotions.'
Vicky spoke about his youth in an interview with Raj Shamani on his podcast. 'When you are born into a family where somebody is working in the film industry, the advantage is that you know the harsh reality of the industry. You know that it's not all glitter and glamour and it has a flip side too. I was born and bought up in a chawl, I have lived in a 10×10 room and I have seen how my parents got furniture one by one and how we have transitioned from small spaces to big spaces. Like how we have moved from chawl to 1bhk then to 2bhk, so that struggle was never hidden from us and I always knew the flip side of this industry and that it isn't easy.'
Vicky recently delivered the biggest hit of his career, the historical drama Chhaava, which made over Rs 800 crore worldwide. Sunny was last seen in the film Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba.

Saiyaara Box Office: Absurdity continues with gravity defying Monday overseas
The absurd box office trend of Saiyaara continues overseas on Monday. The film matched and in some territories even exceeded its Saturday numbers, defying every conventional trend. The YRF musical grossed USD 675K (Rs. 5.75 crore) on its fourth day, taking the running total to a remarkable USD 2.65 million (Rs. 22.75 crore). Normally, you would see a 60-70 per cent drop on Monday from Sunday, but here the Monday numbers are higher than Saturday. This kind of hold is unheard of but then so was the jump, the film saw on Sunday a day before. The Monday numbers are similar to those of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, when the weekend was less than half. In fact, in most of the territories, Saiyaara was higher than RARKPK, except for the United States, where Rocky Rani leads. RARKPK is the film with the best trending internationally in recent memory. To outdo that, in this manner, is downright preposterous. It wasn't as if just some markets showcased this trend; it's consistent across the board. To give out some specifics on Monday. Australia registered its best day of the run on Monday with AUD 75K, surpassing Sunday. The UK was at GBP 77K, 25 per cent above Saturday and just 15 per cent shy of Sunday. North America matched Saturday, while the Middle East, a region which sees sharp weekday drops, held firmly with Monday equaling Saturday. The film has the best pre-sales of its run on Tuesday, which is discount day in several markets. It is possible that business go on the Sunday level today, it will most certainly in terms of tix sold. The madness won't stop just there as there is already strong spillover for Wednesday and Thursday in advance sales at the key locations. With this sort of trend, its tough to say how high the film can go. No one minds the uncertainity, though. The film will likely be sitting at USD 4.50 million plus at the end of the first week. The second weekend should go higher than the first, though release of Fantastic Four may lead to showcasing issues in some of the markets. It's safe to say that the film will go over the USD 10 million mark. How much higher? That's a question the second week will answer, but for now, nothing can be ruled out.

Mohit Suri, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's Saiyaara becomes the 7th biggest hindi grosser of 2025, Overtakes Akshay Kumar's Kesari 2 and Sunny Deol's Jaat
Mohit Suri's Saiyaara is a box office hit. The film stars Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. It has earned Rs 105.75 crore in four days. Saiyaara is now the 7th highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025. It has surpassed Kesari 2 and Jaat. The film is expected to continue its successful run. Saiyaara may challenge the top films of the year. Mohit Suri 's Saiyaara is proving to be more than just a successful launchpad for debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda — it's now a full-fledged box office sensation. With Rs 105.75 crore net in just four days, the romantic drama has officially jumped two spots in the box office rankings to become the 7th highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025, surpassing major star-driven projects like Akshay Kumar 's Kesari 2 and Sunny Deol 's Jaat. Mohit Suri Spills On 20 Years In Bollywood - Ahaan & Aneet, Alia Bhatt Dream Collab & More The film's day-wise collections speak volumes about its momentum: Day 1 (Friday): Rs 21.5 crore Day 2 (Saturday): Rs 26 crore Day 3 (Sunday): Rs 35.75 crore Day 4 (Monday - Early Estimates): Rs 22.5 crore These numbers take Saiyaara's total to Rs 105.75 crore, placing it just behind Sikandar (Rs 110.36 crore) and Sky Force (Rs 113.62 crore). In doing so, it has already beaten: Kesari 2 – Rs 92.58 crore Jaat – Rs 88.72 crore This is no small feat considering Kesari 2 is a big-budget drama led by Akshay Kumar, and Jaat featured Sunny Deol riding high on his post-Gadar 2 resurgence. Yet, despite the lack of marquee stars, Saiyaara has managed to pull in audiences purely on the strength of its storytelling, emotional core, chartbuster music, and a fresh lead pair that has struck a chord with the youth. What's even more impressive is that this milestone has been achieved in just four days. With no major competition in the upcoming weekend — following the postponement of Son of Sardaar 2 to August 1 — Saiyaara is poised for an uninterrupted run at the box office. If current trends continue, the film is expected to surpass Sikandar – Ra and Sky Force within the next 24 hours, potentially becoming one of the Top 5 grossers of the year by the end of Week 1. As of now, the top Hindi films of 2025 are led by Chhaava (Rs 585.70 crore), followed by Housefull 5 (Rs 183.38 crore), Raid 2 (Rs 173.44 crore), and Sitaare Zameen Par (Rs 165.49 crore). But Saiyaara has now officially entered the conversation and could very well become the 2nd biggest hit of the year.

Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone's fire scene in Om Shanti Om had action director Sham Kaushal crying on set: ‘What if something happened'
The grand fire scene during the interval block of Farah Khan's 2007 blockbuster reincarnation saga Om Shanti Om is one of the most memorable action set pieces in the history of Hindi cinema. It had Shah Rukh Khan's character Om enter a huge film set on fire by Arjun Rampal's Mukesh in order to save his love interest, Deepika Padukone's Shantipriya. While it was thrilling to watch on the big screen, the film's action director Sham Kaushal remembers it differently. He recently confessed that set in Mumbai's Film City was so risk-prone that it made him cry several times on set. 'There wasn't so much of VFX back in 2007. We had to light the fire on that set, where Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, three camerapersons, and 60 members of my unit were inside the set. So, there were around 100 people inside the set that was on fire,' Sham recalled. On the podcast of Aman Aujla, Sham claimed that set piece in Om Shanti Om was one of the most 'testing' of his long, illustrious career. 'There were so many moments of stress because you also had to put off the fire within seconds of lighting it. If someone commits a mistake anywhere, it could be very disastrous. I swear by God, there were so many times I'd go to the side and cry. I felt I'd get a heart attack,' added Sham. He added that he got so tense because the entire unit's trust was resting on him. He prayed to Lord Hanuman to keep all of them safe. Sham claimed he considers the members of the unit as his own kids. 'Humans have little control over both fire and water. I get a little scared every time I do a stunt with fire or water. No one should get hurt because nothing is beyond safety,' added Sham. Sham revealed that the tricky area with fire stunts is the timing. They had to light up the set four to five times a day while filming, but also had to put it off within seconds. 'For example, in Dunki, there was a scene in which Vicky (Kaushal, son) had to run with him on fire. It's just a matter of few seconds. Those who extinguish the fire are more committed than those who light it. Even if they burn their hands, they don't step back because they know how grave their job is,' said Sham. Hirani said that Sham gets particularly worried as an action director while working with his family.
