Bull of the Day: Credo Technology (CRDO)
Credo Technology Group (CRDO) is a key supplier of high-performance serial connectivity solutions for the hyperscale datacenter, 5G carrier, enterprise networking, HPC (high-performance computing), and AI/ML markets.Credo is located in the center of the AI revolution in San Jose, CA.With sales growing 120% this fiscal year to $425 million, one of Credo's high demand products is their line of Active Electrical Cables (AEC) which provide high-speed connectivity solutions to data centers and enterprises with heavy AI and cloud computing needs.Credo also makes Digital Signal Processing (DSP) chipsets to facilitate high-bandwidth data transfer with low energy usage.Credo's largest and most strategic customers are leading hyper-scalers like Microsoft (MSFT) and Amazon who use Credo's AECs to support AI and cloud infrastructure. And its biggest competition comes from Broadcom (AVGO) and Marvell (MRVL) in connectivity solutions for the AI Economy.NVIDIA is the AI Market MakerAs I've said for almost eight years, Jensen & Co. have been creating new industries we didn't even know we needed. Once modern data enterprises and research universities caught on to what GPU-CUDA "massively parallel architectures" could do for them, they literally created new uses cases by the thousands per year. When you can simulate anything, use synthetic data to do so, and then run billions of iterations on your experimental idea in a matter of hours, innovation happens much faster. Thus Jensen talks about 1,000-fold advances in science, engineering, and social challenges. And then you understand why NVIDIA (NVDA) power tools are in such demand for the Global 2000 corporations, plus universities, plus nation-states who need to secure and "mine & model" their own data.In my NVIDIA (NVDA) "Top Picks" video on April 21, I compared the new Huawei supercomputer offering to NVIDIA's GB200 NVL72.And one of my points of focus was on the high-speed, low-latency connectivity required for these new rack-scale architectures. I didn't mention Credo, but I'm very curious about how closely they are working together since Jensen likes that "copper is cheaper" and perfectly still useful for direct connections between GPUs in racks.A Fly in the AnointmentThis all sounds great for Credo going forward, especially as they are projected to grow EPS this fiscal year by a whopping 600%!But the stock was richly valued before their Q3 FY2025 (ended April) report. Right now at an $8 billion market cap on forward sales of over $500 million, they are conservatively trading over 16X sales.By early March when they reported, CRDO shares had been cut in half from $80 to $40 in just a month just to get back down to earth at 16X sales. So it's safe to say they were trading near 30X sales in Q1 near the stock highs above $80.Part of the big pessimism -- or realism -- even before the trade war tumult, was that Credo's Q3 38% EPS beat and giant 12.5% revenue beat was built around a single large customer who may have contributed as much as 85% of that topline: Amazon. While they didn't disclose Amazon (AMZN) as the big kahuna in their operations, many analysts had sufficient reason to suspect this was the case."As we shared last quarter, we had seven customers that contributed more than 5% of revenue," said Credo Chief Financial Officer Dan Fleming. "And going forward, we expect that three to four customers will be greater than 10% of revenue in the coming quarters and fiscal year, as additional hyperscalers ramp to more significant volumes."I think Credo can keep growing and we won't see another quarter so dependent on one large company. What Makes Credo's AECs More Efficient Than Other Cables?Credo's Active Electrical Cables (AECs) stand out for their efficiency and performance in modern data center environments, especially compared to traditional Direct Attached Copper (DAC) and Active Optical Cables (AOC). Here are the key factors:1. Substantial Power SavingsCredo's AECs consume about 50% less power than traditional DACs and significantly less than AOCs, making them highly energy efficient. For example, their second-generation HiWire LP SPAN AECs reduce power consumption by nearly half while increasing cable reach by 40% compared to the previous generation.2. Thinner, More Flexible CablesCredo's AECs use thinner copper (as slim as Cat 6 cables), reducing cabling volume by up to 75% compared to passive DACs. This makes them easier to route and manage in dense data center environments. The thinner, lighter cables also support longer distances and tighter bend radii, which is critical for modern rack-to-rack and server-to-switch connections.3. Superior Performance and ReliabilityIntegrated digital signal processors (DSPs) and retimers in Credo's AECs deliver better signal integrity, enabling higher data rates (up to 800G and 1.6T) over longer distances without degradation. These cables offer extreme reliability, with Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) ratings up to 100 million hours, minimizing downtime and maintenance.4. Plug-and-Play SimplicityCredo's AECs are hot-swappable and easy to deploy, providing a drop-in replacement for AOCs and DACs without the need for additional components or complex configuration. They also support advanced features like dual Top-of-Rack (TOR) redundancy for enhanced reliability in hyperscale data centers.5. Lower Environmental ImpactBy reducing power consumption and using less plastic and copper, Credo's AECs help customers decrease their environmental footprint.Relentless Connectivity Innovation for AINow that you know Credo's key "connector" role in the AI economy, let me highlight recent press releases that you should go find on their website if you are interested in learning more...March 18: Credo and XConn to Showcase Seamless GPU Cluster at NVIDIA GTCMarch 26: Credo to Showcase AI Scale Out Fabric Featuring Credo Optical DSPs at OFC 2025March 27: Credo Named a Winner of the 2025 Top Workplaces USA AwardApril 1: Credo Unveils the Lark Family - Setting a New Benchmark for Low-Power 800G Optical DSPsIf their innovation cadence maintains like this, I'm sure their big customer wins will keep growing. While the stock is off to a rough start for Q1, his description of their business was exceptional so I want to share it for your own due diligence...Credo aims to break bandwidth barriers in the data infrastructure market. It provides secure, high-speed connectivity solutions that deliver improved power efficiency as data rates and corresponding bandwidth requirements increase exponentially throughout the data infrastructure market.Specifically, Credo's SerDes and DSP chips optimize data transfer by enabling high-speed, error-free communication within data centers, while its HiWire Active Electrical Cables (AECs) provide efficient, high-bandwidth connections between servers to support AI workloads and large-scale data processing. Many important trends are driving the data infrastructure market, such as cloud workloads, streaming video, 5G wireless deployment, the expansion of Internet of Things (IoT), and, most notably, the growing adoption of artificial intelligence. These trends have all created an explosion of data that has stressed existing infrastructure and forced a major shift.(end of Sheraz Mian observations)The rapid adoption of AI and the need for efficient data center connectivity are driving increased demand for Credo's products among top-tier builders of the AI Economy.Credo is expanding its customer base to include all the major technology firms -- from Apple to Tesla -- and multiple large enterprises in energy and education in the midst.Bottom line on CRDO: If Sheraz hadn't put Credo on my radar, I might not have studied it enough. Now that I know better, I think its a buy in the $40s.

Nvidia (NVDA) Tops Microsoft, Becomes World's Most Valuable Company Again
Nvidia (NVDA, Financials) reclaimed its position as the world's most valuable publicly traded company on Tuesday, overtaking Microsoft (MSFT, Financials) after its shares climbed 3% to $141.40. The gain lifted Nvidia's market capitalization to $3.45 trillion, narrowly edging past Microsoft's $3.44 trillion. The last time Nvidia held the top spot was on Jan. 24, and it has rotated frequently with Microsoft and Apple over the past year. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 4 Warning Signs with NVDA. The surge extends a nearly 24% rally over the past month, as investors continue to bet on Nvidia's dominance in artificial intelligence hardware. The company's chips are critical components for powering advanced AI systems, with customers purchasing Nvidia's accelerators to build large-scale computing clusters. Last week, Nvidia reported first-quarter revenue of $44.06 billion and adjusted earnings of 96 cents per share, marking 69% year-over-year growth. CEO Jensen Huang recently introduced Nvidia's upcoming Vera Rubin chips at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, which will power future U.S. supercomputers. The company, originally founded in 1993 to develop graphics chips for gaming, has since transformed into the central supplier for AI infrastructure as its parallel processing architecture proved ideal for training large language models like ChatGPT. Nvidia's gains also lifted the semiconductor sector, with Broadcom (AVGO, Financials) rising 3%, Micron Technology (MU, Financials) gaining 4%, and the VanEck Semiconductor ETF advancing 2%. Investors will be watching for potential supply chain bottlenecks, additional export restrictions, and signs of continued AI-driven capital expenditure by major tech players. Bark (NYSE:BARK) Misses Q1 Sales Targets, Stock Drops
Pet products provider Bark (NYSE:BARK) missed Wall Street's revenue expectations in Q1 CY2025, with sales falling 5% year on year to $115.4 million. Next quarter's revenue guidance of $100 million underwhelmed, coming in 21.6% below analysts' estimates. Its non-GAAP profit of $0.01 per share was in line with analysts' consensus estimates. Is now the time to buy Bark? Find out in our full research report. Revenue: $115.4 million vs analyst estimates of $128.2 million (5% year-on-year decline, 9.9% miss) Adjusted EPS: $0.01 vs analyst estimates of $0 (in line) Adjusted EBITDA: $5.23 million vs analyst estimates of $3.08 million (4.5% margin, 69.5% beat) Revenue Guidance for Q2 CY2025 is $100 million at the midpoint, below analyst estimates of $127.5 million EBITDA guidance for Q2 CY2025 is $0 at the midpoint, below analyst estimates of $1.21 million Operating Margin: -5.7%, in line with the same quarter last year Free Cash Flow was -$11.99 million compared to -$3.17 million in the same quarter last year Market Capitalization: $229.1 million Making a name for itself with the BarkBox, Bark (NYSE:BARK) specializes in subscription-based, personalized pet products. A company's long-term performance is an indicator of its overall quality. Any business can put up a good quarter or two, but the best consistently grow over the long haul. Over the last five years, Bark grew its sales at a decent 16.6% compounded annual growth rate. Its growth was slightly above the average consumer discretionary company and shows its offerings resonate with customers. We at StockStory place the most emphasis on long-term growth, but within consumer discretionary, a stretched historical view may miss a company riding a successful new product or trend. Bark's recent performance marks a sharp pivot from its five-year trend as its revenue has shown annualized declines of 4.9% over the last two years. This quarter, Bark missed Wall Street's estimates and reported a rather uninspiring 5% year-on-year revenue decline, generating $115.4 million of revenue. Company management is currently guiding for a 14% year-on-year decline in sales next quarter. Looking further ahead, sell-side analysts expect revenue to grow 10.9% over the next 12 months. Although this projection indicates its newer products and services will fuel better top-line performance, it is still below average for the sector. Unless you've been living under a rock, it should be obvious by now that generative AI is going to have a huge impact on how large corporations do business. While Nvidia and AMD are trading close to all-time highs, we prefer a lesser-known (but still profitable) stock benefiting from the rise of AI. Click here to access our free report one of our favorites growth stories. Bark's operating margin has risen over the last 12 months, but it still averaged negative 8.3% over the last two years. This is due to its large expense base and inefficient cost structure. In Q1, Bark generated a negative 5.7% operating margin. The company's consistent lack of profits raise a flag. We track the change in earnings per share (EPS) for the same reason as long-term revenue growth. Compared to revenue, however, EPS highlights whether a company's growth is profitable. Although Bark's full-year earnings are still negative, it reduced its losses and improved its EPS by 100% annually over the last three years. The next few quarters will be critical for assessing its long-term profitability. In Q1, Bark reported EPS at $0.01, up from $0 in the same quarter last year. This print easily cleared analysts' estimates, and shareholders should be content with the results. Over the next 12 months, Wall Street is optimistic. Analysts forecast Bark's full-year EPS of negative $0.02 will reach break even. We were impressed by how significantly Bark blew past analysts' EBITDA expectations this quarter. On the other hand, its revenue missed, and its revenue and EBITDA guidance for next quarter fell short of Wall Street's estimates. Overall, this was a softer quarter. The stock traded down 12.9% to $1.18 immediately after reporting. The latest quarter from Bark's wasn't that good. One earnings report doesn't define a company's quality, though, so let's explore whether the stock is a buy at the current price. When making that decision, it's important to consider its valuation, business qualities, as well as what has happened in the latest quarter. We cover that in our actionable full research report which you can read here, it's free.

The AI Boom Continues: NVDA, VRT & VST Stocks Surge
Two and a half years into the AI boom and things are still progressing at a torrid pace. Though markets experienced an especially sharp correction from March-May, much of the volatility stemmed from politically driven tariff headlines. With those policies now dialed back to more sustainable levels, growth forecasts have stabilized, and the AI trade is back in focus. What's remarkable is that for the first time in modern history, the pace of technological progress is being constrained not by ideas, but by physical bottlenecks: semiconductors, data centers, and even power generation. These chokepoints are creating compelling investment opportunities as demand for AI infrastructure continues to outpace supply. Nvidia (NVDA), Vertiv (VRT) and Vistra (VST) represent some of the most compelling and diversified exposure to the theme. Not only are these stocks showing renewed stock price momentum, after an extended period of sideways action, but they are also trading at reasonable valuations, limiting the downside risk. Image Source: Zacks Investment Research Nvidia remains the single most important company in the AI infrastructure buildout, continuing to lead in the development of cutting-edge chips that power the global boom in artificial intelligence. Most recently, the company expanded its reach beyond data centers and into robotics, unveiling Isaac GR00T, described as 'the world's first open, fully customizable foundation model for humanoid robots, enabling generalized reasoning and skill development.' This move positions Nvidia at the forefront of yet another high-growth frontier. Despite its dominant market position, Nvidia's valuation remains relatively attractive. Shares currently trade at 32.4x forward earnings, well below the company's 10-year median, while earnings are expected to grow at a robust 28.2% annually. For a company driving and defining the next generation of computing, this is a compelling setup. Technically, the stock is showing renewed strength. After breaking out of a major descending channel last month, NVDA consolidated briefly before pushing higher again. With momentum clearly on its side, the stock now looks poised to retest and potentially break through its all-time high of $153. Image Source: TradingView As the largest competitive power generator in the US, Vistra stands to be one of the biggest beneficiaries of the AI-driven surge in electricity demand. With the AI boom putting unprecedented strain on energy infrastructure, especially from data centers and high-performance compute clusters, reliable, large-scale power generation has become mission-critical. Vistra is uniquely positioned to meet this demand with its diversified portfolio, which includes natural gas, solar, battery storage, and nuclear assets. The company trades at 28.3x forward earnings, with analysts forecasting a 34.6% jump in earnings over the next year. While this may seem elevated for a utility-like company, the growth rate and strategic relevance to the AI ecosystem may justify the premium. Technically, VST has shown relentless strength since bottoming in April, climbing steadily with minimal pullbacks. On Tuesday, the stock jumped higher following news that Meta Platforms signed a 20-year agreement with Constellation Energy to purchase nuclear power. While Constellation's stock gave back its initial gains, Vistra held firm, reinforcing its relative strength. The stock is now approaching all-time highs and continues to show strong momentum as investors recognize its crucial role in the next phase of AI infrastructure. Image Source: TradingView Vertiv is a leading provider of critical infrastructure and services for data centers, communication networks, and industrial applications. As artificial intelligence continues to drive exponential growth in data creation and processing, demand for next-generation data center infrastructure has surged and Vertiv is one of the primary beneficiaries. The company offers power management systems, thermal solutions, and monitoring tools that are essential for keeping high-density AI data centers online and operating efficiently. As hyperscalers and enterprise clients race to build out capacity for AI workloads, Vertiv's role in enabling that expansion makes it a direct play on one of the fastest-growing segments of tech infrastructure. Vertiv currently trades at 30.8x forward earnings, with analysts projecting impressive annual earnings growth of 27.2% over the next three to five years. Given its growth trajectory and strategic importance in the AI ecosystem, the valuation appears well-supported. From a technical standpoint, VRT has been in a strong uptrend since its April lows, with multiple bullish consolidations and breakouts along the way. Most recently, the stock broke out of a textbook bull flag formation, retested the breakout level, and has resumed its move higher. With momentum accelerating again, a run to all-time highs seems like the natural next step. Image Source: TradingView With AI adoption continuing at an unrelenting pace, the strongest opportunities are obvious—semiconductors, energy, and data centers. Nvidia, Vistra, and Vertiv each represent a different yet complementary piece of that ecosystem. All three are showing strong momentum, robust earnings growth, and valuations that remain reasonable given their strategic importance. For investors looking to ride the next leg of the AI boom, these stocks offer compelling, diversified exposure. Want the latest recommendations from Zacks Investment Research?
