Tributes to Brit, 41, who died after falling onto rocks in Majorca
Tributes have been paid to a British tourist who died after a late-night fall onto rocks near a beautiful white sand Majorcan beach.
Ben Clark, 41, was killed instantly after the 15ft plunge from a wall in the early hours of Friday morning.
Well-placed sources said his partner had also fallen from the same spot and been knocked unconscious before coming to and going to a nearby hotel to raise the alarm.
Friends of Ben, who described himself on Facebook as a self-employed carpenter from Andover, Hampshire, called him 'one of the good ones' and a 'great guy' as they spoke of their shock at learning the news, with one admitting he was 'completely gutted.'
Becky Paris said: 'Honestly I just spent the majority of the evening blabbering on about how 'it's the kind of thing you read about in the newspapers, but think well it wouldn't ever happen' as it wasn't real life.
'Today I am just absolutely heartbroken for you and your little family.
'No words that could make sense of it. You really were one of the good ones mate.'
Peter Fordham added: 'RIP Ben Clark. Devastating news and a sad loss.
'You will be massively missed. Condolences to all your friends and family.'
And Chris Jon Osman, responding to messages from one of Ben's daughters who had written in an online tribute: 'Love your forever dad', said: 'Couldn't be more gutted for you, love to all your family.
'His memory will live on through the many peoples' lives that he lit up.
'He was a great guy and a true legend.'
News of the tragedy first began to emerge mid-morning on Friday when police said firefighters had helped them recover the body of an unnamed British man.
A spokesman for the Civil Guard in Majorca said on Friday afternoon: 'We received an emergency alert just before 2am this morning, saying a man had fallen from a height of around 15 feet in a rocky area in Cala Agulla near to Capdepera and had possibly died.
'The Civil Guard's specialist Greim mountain and cave rescue unit was mobilised.
'The man's body was recovered just after 5am.
'A full report has yet to be drafted by the Greim unit and an autopsy will take place.
'But everything at this stage is pointing to the victim dying as a result of an accidental fall.'
Earlier, well-placed sources said the dead man had been with his partner, who survived before going to raise the alarm at the Club Cala Rajada Hotel.
An island newspaper has reported the fall happened in an area which is popular with tourists who visit the beauty spot to watch the stunning sunsets.
Tragic keep-fit fanatic Mr Clark, who is believed to have been father to a grown-up daughter aged around 20 as well as a younger child, had been joking with a friend on Facebook the day before losing his life.
The pal, commenting on the last photo he posted online from Majorca late on Thursday showing him looking redder than normal, said: 'Looking a bit serious Ben lol x', prompting Ben to respond: 'And burnt.'
When the friend asked: 'Where's your sun protection then LOL', he replied: 'In the hand luggage.'
Cala Agulla is a large, white sand beach surrounded by beautiful, natural landscapes in the north-east of Majorca, a short drive from Capdepera.
It is surrounded by the wild beauty of sand dunes, pine trees, desert plants, and low lying rocky areas that form the Llevant Peninsula Natural Park.
Last month a British woman died after plunging from a scenic beauty spot in Majorca.
The 39-year-old was rushed to hospital critically injured following the drama but failed to overcome her injuries.
She fell about 60 feet from a lookout point in the Palma neighbourhood of es Jonquet overlooking the sea.
Local police and paramedics who responded to an emergency call stabilised her at the scene before putting a 'Green Alert' in place to make sure she got to hospital as quickly as possible by clearing traffic for the ambulance transporting her.
Police confirmed after the May 19 tragedy they were not looking for anyone else in connection with what happened and the woman's death was not being treated as a crime.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "We have recently been made aware of alleged crimes related to historic nuclear tests. Inna Z, 51, was arrested by police in Majorca after her company doubted the claim she had been killed in a car accident and tracked her down with detectives. The tax adviser was accused of defrauding around £900,000 from the German solar power firm she worked for. She was summoned to court in November 2020, but her sister reported she had been killed in a car crash of March that year. A death certificate was provided, but her company in Rostock, north Germany, smelt a rat and hired private detectives to investigate. They discovered that her social media was still active, meaning Inna was either still alive or being impersonated. They also found out she owned a giant poodle. The pooch became the object of their search, and was spotted out for a walk in Santa Ponca, Majorca. Large poodles are not a common sight on the island, so the canine stuck out. It led the team to a swanky villa in the town - and the supposedly dead Inna. Inna admitted to staging her demise after false documents were found in the house. Her sister Anna, who wrote the email to the court, will also avoid jail. It comes as a British dad died this week on the island when he fell off a wall onto rocks. His daughter, Kaci Fraya, is believed to have been on the Spanish holiday to Cala Agulla on the island's northeast coast with her dad at the time of his death.
