Traffic diversion: Avinashi Road flyover work reaches final phase in Coimbatore
Complementing the railway adjustments, Coimbatore City Police have issued a detailed traffic diversion plan for the period. From 11 pm to 6 am daily, traffic will be barred in both directions on Avinashi Road between Pioneer Mill Junction and Coimbatore Medical College.
Buses and heavy vehicles leaving the city will be rerouted from Lakshmi Mills Junction through Ramanathapuram, Singanallur, and Ondipudur, using the L&T bypass. Two-wheelers and cars can detour via Rottikadai Maithanam, Gandhi Nagar, Thanneer Panthal Road, and Tidel Park to rejoin Avinashi Road.
Incoming traffic, including buses, will be redirected through Thottipalayam, Kalapatti, Vilankurichi, and Saravanampatti, or may take a U-turn at SITRA Junction to approach via Kalapatti Road. Light vehicles can enter through Codissia or CMC Junctions using local roads leading to Pioneer Mill and Avinashi Road.
Vehicles traveling to and from Singanallur are advised to avoid Avinashi Road entirely and use the L&T Bypass through Chinthamaniputhur and Ondipudur for smoother passage. Authorities have appealed to the public for cooperation during this brief disruption, which is crucial for the timely completion of one of the city's most significant infrastructure projects.

SCR to restore trains to original routes soon in Telangana
HYDERABAD: The South Central Railway (SCR) has announced that several trains, which were diverted or had terminal changes due to redevelopment works at Secunderabad Railway Station, will resume operations on their original routes starting September. The move aims to ease passenger travel and restore normal operations following the completion of key station works. The Vijayawada-Kacheguda-Vijayawada Satavahana Express (Train No. 12713/12714), which was temporarily terminating at Kacheguda, will once again operate from Secunderabad. The change will take effect from September 7, for both directions. Special express train extended for festival season with additional trips
The special express train (09059) between train Udhna – Khurda Road has been extended by eight more trips to clear the extra rush of passengers during the festival season. Train no. 09059 will leave Udhna at 12.20 hours on Wednesdays from August 6 to September 24 and will reach Vizianagaram on the next day (on Thursdays) at 4 p.m. and depart at 4.25 p.m. to reach Khurda Road at 102.30 p.m. In the return direction, 09060 Khurda Road – Udhna Special Express train will leave Khurda Road at 2 a.m. on Fridays from August 8 to September 26 and will reach Vizianagaram at 7.25 a.m. and depart at 7.50 p.m. to reach Udhna on the next day at 1.30 p.m., according to K. Saandeep, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Waltair Division. Difficulty level: Moderate to difficult Sir Endric Peak Close to the Odisha border in Paderu lies the forest-covered Sir Endric Peak, rising to 1,572 metres above sea level. The initial 30-minute stretch of this three-hour trek organised by Hikoi is notably steep, demanding steady footing and a slow, deliberate pace. Once the first climb is complete, the forest thickens, revealing a layered rainforest system few trekkers expect to encounter this far south. The terrain evolves every half hour from shaded paths to fern-filled clearings to wind-swept ridges.
