Jessica Biel sometimes 'puts on a happy face'
Jessica Biel has sometimes forced herself to "put on a happy face". The 43-year-old actress - who first rose to fame as a child star in '7th Heaven' when she was just 14 - has reflected on how she's reacted to being in the public eye over the years. She told PEOPLE magazine: 'I can understand sometimes feeling like you have to put on a happy face, or you know, smile and kind of grin and bear it. 'I've definitely done that in my past before... I understand wanting to hide some of my personal life or you know, just keep something sacred." 'The Better Sister' star was reflecting on how she feels some similarities with her character in the movie, who finds herself in the middle of a scandal and looking for privacy. She quipped: 'I think my character does that in a very dysfunctional way, and I think I do it a little bit more functionally, I hope." Jessica admitted portraying a character on screen is "always cathartic no matter what", because with each performance she's finding something to draw on from her own life. She explained: 'You're finding something that is in your life that is parallel to something that you understand or a touch point that you can connect to that your character is going through. "Sometimes it's abstract, sometimes it's very linear.' Jessica played aspiring basketball player Mary Camden in '7th Heaven' from 1996to 2007, and she tried to show off her own skills during her audition. Appearing on the 'Catching Up With the Camdens' podcast - which is hosted by three of her on-screen siblings Beverley Mitchell, David Gallagher and Mackenzie Rosman - she recalled: "The Mary character was spinning a basketball on her finger. "So I did that in the audition without a basketball. What a choice. Like, who encouraged me to do that? "I kind of still feel embarrassed about that, but, I don't know. Maybe it was effective. "And I remember thinking, 'cool character,' because she's a basketball player, and I was an athlete. I was like 'Oh, I connect to this.'"

Now another development in the situation has surfaced, as Lively is apparently in the process of withdrawing her claims against Baldoni regarding intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligent infliction of emotional distress. As shared via Variety, this decision was made when 'Baldoni's legal team sought discovery that included her medical records in their efforts to defend the ' It Ends With Us ' director against her claim that she suffered 'severe emotional distress and pain, humiliation, embarrassment, belittlement, frustration and mental anguish.'' The outlet continues: 'Lively's attempt to withdraw the two claims surfaced in a filing Monday by Baldoni's attorneys, who are seeking to compel the actress to sign a HIPAA release for access to therapy notes and other relevant information.' The following statement was taken from the filing: 'Instead of complying with the Medical RFPs, Ms. Lively's counsel recently advised us, in writing, that Ms. Lively is withdrawing her [infliction of emotional distress] Claims ,' the filing states. 'However, Ms. Lively has refused the Wayfarer Parties' reasonable request that the withdrawal of such claims be with prejudice . She is only willing to withdraw her claims without prejudice. In other words, Ms. Lively wants to simultaneously: (a) refuse to disclose the information and documents needed to disprove that she suffered any emotional distress and/or that the Wayfarer Parties were the cause; and (b) maintain the right to re-file her IED Claims at an unknown time in this or some other court after the discovery window has closed.' A response to the matter was shared by Lively's lawyers, Esra Hudson and Mike Gottlieb, who further called the filing 'a press stunt.' The two added that there are actually 'streamlining and focusing' her case. The two shared the following statement insisting that 'Ms. Lively continues to allege emotional distress' as part of the ongoing debacle: 'The Baldoni-Wayfarer strategy of filing retaliatory claims has exposed them to expansive new damages claims under California law, rendering certain of Ms. Lively's original claims no longer necessary. Ms. Lively continues to allege emotional distress, as part of numerous other claims in her lawsuit, such as sexual harassment and retaliation, and massive additional compensatory damages on all of her claims.' As for the court's part in all this, they 'need to decide whether to compel Lively to turn over the information on her mental health, which she has sought to avoid, or dismiss the two claims with or without prejudice. 'It is standard procedure in cases alleging physical or emotional injury for the defense to access the plaintiff's medical records that would shine a light on the root and scope of alleged distress.' The outlet does note that it's 'unusual' in this case 'for a plaintiff to abandon the claims midstream given that it is well known heading into such a lawsuit that medical records will be an unpleasant but inevitable part of the discovery process.' The filing to Judge Liman in U.S. District Court Southern District of New York and signed by Baldoni attorney Kevin Fritz reads as follows: 'Ms. Lively cannot have it both ways. If Ms. Lively wants to withdraw her frivolous IED Claims, the Wayfarer Parties are entitled to a dismissal with prejudice to ensure they will not be re-filed. If Ms. Lively is unwilling to stipulate to the dismissal of her IED Claims with prejudice, then the Wayfarer Parties will continue to defend against them, and she must produce her medical information and documents as set forth herein.' It's clear that this legal situation will continue to become more complicated and complex as it progresses. With several related lawsuits in the process, and these latest developments, we'll have to see where this debacle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni heads next. During a recent appearance on India Hicks's podcast, the 60-year-old actress recalled the moment she interrupted the Duchess of Sussex during a panel at the South by Southwest Festival last year after the former royal seemed to have lost the audience's attention with an anecdote from her childhood. To mark International Women's Day, Katie Couric asked the panel a question related to gender equality – and Markle answered right away. The actress rose to fame at the age of 11 when she played a child prostitute in "Pretty Baby," which featured Shields in multiple nude scenes. As a 10-year-old, Shields posed naked for the Playboy publication Sugar'n'Spice. "I was at the center of it," Shields said. "And I was promoting it and I was doing it." She continued, "And I was lucky because I was surrounded by a very strong mom. I never did move to Hollywood. I always went to regular school." "So I had this sort of community around me that was protecting me, buoying me. And so I did not become the type of statistic that Hollywood created," Shields added. David Fincher's ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD Netflix Sequel Adds Elizabeth Debicki and Scott Caan — GeekTyrant
Elizabeth Debicki ( Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 , The Crown ) and Scott Caan ( Ocean's 11 ) have joined the cast of David Fincher's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood follow-up at Netflix. The pair will star alongside Brad Pitt, who is reprising his Oscar-winning role as the zen stuntman Cliff Booth for the feature, which comes from a script written by the original film's writer-director Quentin Tarantino. The sequel still seems somewhat unreal to many fans of Tarantino and Fincher, but with the addition of more cast members, the project seems to be gaining steam as it heads towards a potential summer production start in California. The synopsis of the film remains shrouded in mystery, but the film, which is currently being called The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth , is currently in pre-production. It was previously revealed that this next chapter is shaping up to be a unique continuation and it was explained: "This probably should not be thought of as a sequel. This should be thought of more of a follow-up that's connected to but not the same as — the example that was cited to me was, think about how A Big Sleep , the Raymond Chandler adaptation starring Humphrey Bogart, is in the same world as Farewell, My Lovely , the 1975 Robert Mitchum movie, but it's [a] different actor, different directors, different time in the storyline. They are different, they are not really sequels, they are the further adventures of [Cliff]."
