Barbra Streisand pushed her voice to the limit recording audiobook for her memoir
The 83-year-old star admits that she put her vocals under extreme strain as she recorded the audio version of her 970-page-long autobiography shortly after working on her latest album The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two.
Barbra told People magazine: "All the wonderful people that I was going to sing with wanted to sing with me. And they were all so special and I hadn't sung in a very long time.
"I didn't know if I had a voice left because after I did that, Jesus, six weeks, six days a week, five hours a day of talking, speaking into a microphone for the book. So I was hoarse."
Streisand's latest record is released on Friday (27.06.25) - featuring duets with music titans including Sir Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan - and the legendary singer and actress has vowed to continue making music for as long as her voice permits.
The Woman in Love artist said: "As long as I have a voice, I love the privacy of recording.
"I love standing there in front of the mic with the music in my ears and singing, and there are more songs I want to sing. And I even have my original list of songs I wanted to sing."
Barbra duets with the jazz-pop star Laufey on the song Letter to My 13 Year Old Self and reflected on how she "instinctively" improvised during her musical performances at that age.
The Funny Girl actress explained: "The first time you're a teenager, you've moved ahead to another level. Believe in yourself, believe in your choices. Believe in what you hear, what you feel.
"I mean, I did it instinctively. You know what I mean? I don't know why I did it. And it's the first time I ever did an improvisation even. I was standing in front of the mic at 13 and what I rehearsed with the guys, the piano player, I did something else.
"And I thought, where did that come from? Where did improvisation? Where did I... I don't know. It came out and I liked it. I went, 'Oh, that's interesting.'"

Wilmer Valderrama is a dad again
Wilmer Valderrama has become a father for the second time. The 45-year-old actor and his fiancee Amanda Pacheco have announced they welcomed son Wolf Monte, a brother for four-year-old daughter Nakano, into the world earlier this month. The pair shared some black and white photos from hospital, including two pictures of Nakano proudly holding onto her baby brother, in a joint Instagram post to announce the news. It was simply captioned: 'Wolf Monte Valderrama 7/11/2025 [wolf and full moon emojis]." The That 70s Show actor had revealed in April he and Amanda were expecting a baby boy. Speaking on his Dos Amigos podcast, Wilmer told his co-host Freddy Rodriguez: "We're having a boy, and we couldn't be more excited to have the pair." Wilmer added that he and Amanda have already decided on a name but he wanted to let his fiancée share it publicly when she is ready. Wilmer and Amanda previously revealed that Nakano was the first person to know about the new baby. Amanda told People magazine: "She read [the results of the pregnancy test] to Wilmer and I, and she has been shouting it from the mountaintops to every person who comes in her path: 'I'm going to be a big sister!'" Wilmer added that Nakano has also "been so sweet to Amanda, kissing her belly goodbye before going to school and bringing the baby a second teddy bear for bedtime. Scott and Kelley Wolf barred from discussing divorce with their kids
Scott and Kelley Wolf have been banned from discussing their divorce with their children. The former couple - who have Jackson, 16, Miller, 12, and 11-year-old Lucy together - split last month after more than 20 years of marriage and earlier this week, they reached a temporary agreement which set out provisions around custody, visitation, finances, and communication, with the Party of Five actor's temporary restraining order against his estranged wife also dismissed. According to documents obtained by People magazine, Scott has temporary sole physical custody of the kids, while Kelley has been granted "liberal" supervised parenting time, which will be coordinated by the pair's lawyers. In addition, Kelley will be allowed three supervised video or phone calls per week with the children during "reasonable waking hours" and can respond if her kids initiate additional contact. If a court-appointed guardian raises any concerns, all parties must reevaluate whether supervision remains necessary. According to the agreement, neither party is permitted to discuss adult issues, the divorce, or the kids' relationship with their other parent in front of or with the children, and Scott and Kelley are also barred from making disparaging remarks, either verbally or in writing, and cannot interrogate their brood about what happens when they are with their other parent. The agreement also includes a social media stipulation, which means neither may post about one another, their marriage, children or the divorce, nor allow any third party to do so. Scott will keep exclusive use of their Park City home, and Kelley's parenting time may occur there but only with mutual agreement on a supervisor, and she is otherwise barred from the property. The 57-year-old actor will retain control of marital funds, covering household expenses and will also provide Kelley with $10,000 a month for living costs, as well as her car payments, minimum payments on credit cards and some of her legal fees. Days after news of the former couple's split was announced, Kelly was admitted to hospital under an involuntary 5150 hold - which is described as "a critical intervention used to detain individuals who are considered a danger to themselves or others or are gravely disabled due to a mental disorder" - but was discharged days later and insisted she was "fine". In a post on Instagram, she wrote: 'I'm fine, y'all. I'm happy. 'No mental illness. No addictions. Just a woman who SURVIVED an involuntary 5150 and went on a 1st DATE 2-night. So nervous! OMG!' The former couple married in 2004 and Kelley recently insisted she is "happy" and "ready to begin again" after her split from the actor. She wrote on Instagram: "Love makes the world go round … And in the times you feel heavy … KNOW … you are special. Peace is a state of mind. "And your mind is all that can tell you otherwise … I love you all and I am HAPPY. And that's okay … it's okay to hold many things at once. "We are dynamic … and I am ready to begin again … "
