Sg Pulai Crash: Helicopter Expected To Be Retrieved By Tomorrow Or The Day After
JOHOR BAHRU, July 13 (Bernama) -- The wreckage of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) helicopter that crashed in Sungai Pulai, Gelang Patah last Thursday is expected to be retrieved soon, possibly by tomorrow or the following day.
Commander of the Air Operations Force (PGU) under the Department of Internal Security and Public Order (KDNKA), Datuk Noor Sham Md Jani, said the operation would be carried out with assistance from the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).
'Insya-Allah, with assistance from external agencies in the retrieval process, the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (BSKU) will be able to carry out further investigations into what happened that day,' he said when met by reporters after visiting the victims at Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) here today.
He added that the communication recording device is also believed to still be inside the wreckage.
'It is believed to still be in the helicopter. It records communication between the helicopter and the ground team. Technically, it's not a black box - it's referred to as a helicopter communication device,' he said.
Meanwhile, HSA deputy director II Dr C. Mitesh said all five victims of the helicopter crash, including two being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), were in stable condition.
He said Constable R. G. Devendran remained sedated and required respiratory assistance, while Corporal Adeline Liu Yan Siu, who did not need such assistance, was under observation in the ICU.
'The three other victims, who are in stable condition in the general ward, are also under observation, including by an orthopaedic specialist, as some sustained injuries that require further care. Based on current assessments, all five victims are stable,' he said.
In the 10.15 am incident on Thursday, an AS355N helicopter belonging to the PDRM was involved in an accident during a flypast demonstration as part of the MITSATOM 2025 exercise, which involved four countries - Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore.

Counsel M Athimulan told the Ipoh High Court that the defence needed to review its previous submissions to focus on another section under the Penal Code that the prosecution is focusing on, Bernama reported. Advertisement 'Our submissions comprised both Section 300(c) and (d) of the Penal Code, but were more focused on Section 300(c). However, the prosecution's stand now is that they are relying on Section 300(d). 'This creates a need to revise our submissions. Over 2,460 domestic violence cases recorded in Malaysia Jan-April 2024
KUALA TERENGGANU: A total of 2,467 domestic violence cases were reported across Malaysia between January and April this year, according to Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad. She highlighted that housewives remain the most vulnerable group, though many victims may not recognise emotional or psychological abuse. Noraini explained that domestic violence extends beyond physical harm, with emotional manipulation and 'reverse psychology' tactics often employed by perpetrators. 'Most abuse is committed by those closest to the victim, including family members,' she said during the Women's Wellbeing Advocacy Programme @ Domestic Violence (Aku Wanita @ KRT) launch. In Terengganu alone, 104 cases were recorded during the same period, a slight decline from 130 cases in 2023. Despite the drop, Noraini stressed that the numbers remain concerning. To combat the issue, the ministry has introduced initiatives like the Aku Wanita @ KRT Programme, which engages communities through expert discussions and survivor testimonials. The programme also includes 'K-Chat,' a psychological intervention session where survivors receive group counseling from trained professionals. Police to facilitate Turun Anwar rally despite no prior notice
PUTRAJAYA: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will still facilitate the upcoming Himpunan Turun Anwar rally on July 26, despite organisers no longer being required to submit prior notice. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail confirmed this, emphasising that the police will ensure safety and order even without advance details. The Federal Court recently ruled Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 unconstitutional, removing the obligation for organisers to notify authorities beforehand. Saifuddin acknowledged this has made security planning more challenging. 'If organisers were still required to inform the police, we would at least know the venue and expected crowd size, allowing us to deploy personnel accordingly,' he said. Despite the difficulties, he assured that PDRM will handle security professionally. He reminded participants to follow existing laws, including avoiding dangerous weapons, inflammatory speeches, and involving children in the gathering. 'If police take action, don't claim your freedom has been violated because the relevant laws still apply,' he added.
