Is there a new captain leading Station 118?
What happened to Captain Bobby Nash?
As the eighth season of ABC's high-octane drama 9-1-1 nears its finale, the series takes a characteristically dramatic turn, balancing grief with chaos.Following the emotional farewell to Station 118's longtime captain Bobby Nash (Peter Krause), the newly released 9-1-1 promo suggests the crew is far from any sense of calm.In true 9-1-1 fashion, the penultimate episode brings not just emotional reckoning, but literal fire in the water.Titled 'Don't Drink the Water,' the May 8 episode continues the show's tradition of blending personal tragedy with large-scale crises. The trailer reveals an environmental catastrophe brewing in Los Angeles, with methane-contaminated water igniting in household taps.News bulletins within the promo warn of fiery eruptions, setting the stage for a full-blown emergency that brings the team face-to-face with disaster once more.According to the official synopsis, a recent earthquake triggers multiple unusual fires across the city. The 118 must act swiftly to identify the source and prevent further harm, all while grappling with Bobby's absence. The stakes are high — both professionally and emotionally. The 9-1-1 promo also highlights the simmering question of leadership at Station 118. In a quiet but significant exchange, Sergeant Athena Grant (Angela Bassett) tells Hen Wilson (Aisha Hinds), 'The best thing for the 118 would be you as captain', as mentioned in a report by Decider.Hen, visibly unsure, responds, 'What if I don't want it?'Series showrunner Tim Minear has confirmed that a permanent replacement for Bobby will not be appointed before the season ends.'There is an interim captain in place, but the chair is still symbolically empty,' Minear said in a recent interview. The remaining episodes, he noted, are more focused on how the team copes with their loss than who inherits leadership.Minear elaborated that the final arc of Season 8 is intended to be a meditation on love, loss, and resilience.'Even in their grief, they're first responders. They have to put that aside and work together to save people,' he said.Episode 17 is expected to introduce a 'mass casualty event' that challenges the emotional limits of the 118 team, while also showcasing their unwavering commitment to public safety. The episodes following Bobby's death are designed to allow the characters — and the audience — the necessary space to grieve. The promo teases further conversations among the crew, with moments between Athena and Karen (Tracie Thoms), Hen and Eddie (Ryan Guzman), hinting at deeper character development amid the unfolding disaster. While fans eagerly speculate who might ultimately take command of the 118, the immediate concern is how the team will navigate a city literally catching fire. The blend of large-scale emergencies with intimate personal moments remains the hallmark of 9-1-1, and this penultimate episode promises to deliver both.9-1-1 airs Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC. Viewers await answers — and more than a few explosions — as Season 8 nears its conclusion. Not yet. According to showrunner Tim Minear, an interim captain is currently in place, but no permanent replacement for Bobby will be appointed before the season ends. The leadership role remains symbolically unfilled.Captain Bobby Nash, played by Peter Krause, died in a recent episode. His emotional farewell has left a leadership vacuum at Station 118.

Salman Khan once joked about father Salim Khan marrying twice: 'I think marriage is a funny thing'

Salman Khan, nearing 60, is still unmarried. He has been linked to Iulia Vantur. Salman has shared his views on marriage. He finds marriage a funny thing. His father, Salim Khan, has two happy marriages. Salman's career faces a rough patch. His recent films, including Sikandar with Rashmika Mandanna, have not performed well. Sikandar was directed by AR Murugadoss. As he nears 60, Salman Khan remains Bollywood's most iconic bachelor—unmarried, unbothered, and still delivering his trademark wit on the subject. While fans continue to speculate about his love life, the superstar often uses humour to address the ever-persistent question of marriage. From calling it a 'funny thing' to joking about his father Salim Khan 's two marriages, Salman's take on matrimony is as unconventional as his off-screen persona. During a chat with Lehren, Salman once described marriage as 'a funny thing,' noting how its everyday dynamics make for great cinematic comedy. Citing films like Biwi No. 1 and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, he pointed out how even common spousal squabbles—like tiffs over in-laws or dinner plans—offer rich material for humor. During a chat with Lehren, he even joked that soap operas thrive on these themes, with Ekta Kapoor building an empire around saas-bahu dramas. The superstar has often questioned the idea that marriage is always a path to happiness. While many claim it's the best thing in life, he noted that in reality, several married couples don't seem as content as they appear. Taking a light-hearted dig, he brought up his father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, as a rare exception—someone who, despite having two wives, seems genuinely happy. Salman joked that Salim might be the only person he knows thriving in such a setup, adding that both Salma Khan and Helen not only get along but also share a good rapport. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Salman Khan is currently facing a challenging phase in his career, with back-to-back setbacks at the box office. Sunita Ahuja Blames Govinda's "Wrong Circle" For Career Downfall

New Delhi: Being a '90s icon is no small deal. But staying one in 2025? That's a different ballgame. And if there is one person who has been saying it like it is – without filters – it is Govinda's wife, Sunita Ahuja. In a candid chat with The Powerful Humans, Sunita did not hold back while addressing why the Hero No.1 star has been MIA from the big screen for so long. And let us just say, the blame did not fall on the star or bad luck. It fell right on the people in his corner. 'Why hasn't Govinda been seen on the big screen for the past 17 years?' she questioned, before answering it herself. 'Because the circle around him is completely wrong. Sab wah-wah karne waale log hain.' According to Sunita Ahuja, these are not the kind of voices that help an artist evolve. In fact, she admitted that these people have even sparked fights between her and Govinda. ' Mera aur Govinda ka jhagda bhi hojaata hai kyunki main naa jhooth nahi bol sakti aur chaplusi nahi kar sakti [Govinda and I also end up having arguments because I just can't lie or flatter anyone]," she said. Sunita painted a pretty clear picture of the people surrounding him – a writer, a secretary and a friend-like lawyer — all of whom she believes are doing more harm than good. ' Wah Chi Chi bhaiya kya kamaal kardia [Wow, Chi Chi Bhaiya, what an amazing job you have done],' she mocked their sycophantic praise. ' Abey tu sach toh bol. Hum sach bolte hain to chidhta hai voh [Oh come on, be honest. When I speak the truth, he gets irritated]," she added. As per Sunita, it is not just Govinda's company that has her worried. It is his mindset. Govinda's wife, who now lives with the actor in the US, also shared that she has been pushing him to evolve with the times. Her advice? 'I told him, the 90s are over. It's 2025 now. Look at what's working today – Netflix and OTT platforms," Sunita revealed. Sunita also addressed a key myth that seems to have built up around Govinda over the years – that solo-hero films are his forte. But she called out this idea too. 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan wasn't a solo-hero film. Aankhen wasn't either. The people around him planted this myth in his head: 'Sir, you're Hero No.1—your film will definitely work!' But where do solo-hero films work today?" she asked. Sunita stated that what Govinda needs now is not more flattery, but solid scripts, a great director and a team that is not afraid to tell him the truth. Govinda and Sunita Ahuja got married in March 1987. The couple are proud parents to a daughter, Tina, and a son, Yashvardhan. Govinda was last seen in Rangeela Raja, a 2019 comedy film. The film had him in a double role and was directed by Sikander Bharti.

In a podcast interview with Maniesh Paul, Govinda shared a throwback story about his signing spree. He said, "Main film line mein kahan aaya, mujhe film line thamai gayi thi. Upar wale ne film line di thi ki bhaiyya is sambhaliye (I didn't enter the film industry; God handed over the responsibility to manage it)." He recalled a chat with late veteran actor Dilip Kumar , who advised him to drop 25 of the 75 films he had signed.
