A minor girl and a 24-year-old man she was allegedly acquainted with were found dead in Khadakwasla dam area on Friday morning. Police said the two hailed from Ahilyanagar district and had been residing in Pune city.
According to police, the 16-year-old minor was a student and went to a Physics Wallah class in the city on Thursday evening but did not return home. Based on her sister's complaint, an offence of kidnapping was lodged at Wanawdi police station, as per legal procedure, around 10 pm on Thursday.
A police team launched a search for the missing minor girl. A probe revealed that a 24-year-old man was also missing and his phone had been switched off since 5.30 pm on Thursday. Police also confirmed that he was not present at his native village in Ahilyanagar district. On Friday morning, a team from Uttam Nagar police station found the bodies of the missing minor girl and the man at an open space in Khadakwasla dam area. Police suspect both died by suicide and sent the bodies to a hospital for postmortem.
Senior police inspector Satyajit Admane of Wanavdi police station said a prima-facie probe revealed that the deceased girl and the man allegedly knew each other for the last few months. Police said family members of the girl were aware of this relationship and they were against it. Police were investigating the case further.

1 2 Pune: Cybercrooks posing as Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) officials forced a 62-year-old woman from Kondhwa to transfer Rs6.7 lakh between June 12 and 27 in a digital arrest fraud case. The crooks called the woman, a painter and artist, and told her that her name had figured in a money laundering investigation and that she was being put under digital arrest. The crooks claimed that her Aadhaar card, bank account, and phone number were misused by people involved in terror activities and money laundering cases. "The suspects claimed that her activities were a threat to national security, and they would arrest her in the case. They took money from her as a security deposit, which they were required to deposit in the court," senior inspector Satyajit Admane of Wanowrie police told TOI. The woman initially transferred Rs 1.3 lakh without consulting any of her family members. Later, she left for a holiday trip to Goa. She told the neighbour that some govt officers were demanding money from her, and she was kept under digital arrest. The person then informed her about the fraud. The woman then went to Mumbai to stay with her daughter while she recuperated and approached the Bandra police with her complaint. Pune: A 16-year-old girl and a 23-year-old man, suspected to be lovers, allegedly ended their lives by consuming some poisonous chemical in the jungle at Khadakwasla around 12.35pm on Friday, police said. Police have identified the deceased, both hailing from Ahilyanagar district and residing in Manjri, from their Aadhaar cards.
