Patriots WR Stefon Diggs shares honest thoughts on Drake Maye
New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs shared his first impressions of second-year quarterback Drake Maye when speaking with media members at minicamp.
Diggs was signed to a three-year, $69 million contract to serve as a top receiving option for Maye. The four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver is currently working his way back from a torn ACL, which kept him sidelined from 11-on-11 work during the spring practices.
However, he has participated in work with lower intensity, and he looks to be well ahead of schedule in his recovery process. He was seen catching passes from Maye at minicamp, which is something fans are hoping to see much more of in the 2025 season.
'I like [Maye]. I can't say too much because I haven't been out there much, but as far as like personality-wise, he a dog. You can tell he's a dog from the get-go," said Diggs. "I can see he's committed to the process. He wants to play well. I know he's been here all spring. ...He's been real helpful, too."
If Maye and Diggs can get on the same page early, it could take the Patriots' offense to new heights. Maye might have his new No. 1 wide receiver, and Diggs would have a chance to bounce back with a talented young quarterback.
It might finally be the recipe for success in New England.

Ex-NFL MVP Gets Critical of NY Giants' Cam Skattebo After Viral Moment
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Cam Skattebo still has NFL fans riled up over the fact that he couldn't recognize some of the best players the game has seen. On a recent appearance on the 'St. Brown Bros' podcast, Skattebo received plenty of online criticism over the fact that he couldn't recognize former Detroit Lions wide receiver, Calvin Johnson. The clip got to former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, and it's not exactly sitting well with the former NFL MVP. "They not fans of the game," Newton said on '4th&1 With Cam Newton.' "These kids— they playing video games all day. Have you ever heard of Chad Ochocinco? Have you heard of Terrell Owens? Have you heard of Steve Smith? Have you heard of Prime Time?" Newton understands the state of the game. When he was coming up, YouTube highlights weren't relevant the way they are now. Skattebo enters the NFL in a different time, where technology dominates. He might be an NFL player, but knowing the history of the game isn't exactly a requirement to get into the league. Newton calls for young players in Skattebo's position to study the game more, spending 30 minutes to an hour understanding the history better. The advice for Skattebo comes from a valuable football mind. Newton, a former first-overall pick, lived up to the hype for most of his career. During his first season, he earned Offensive Rookie of the Year honors as he dominated on the ground and in the air. By year three, the Panthers found a lot of success with Newton, as he totaled 30 touchdowns on the year, rushing for over 500 yards, and throwing for nearly 3,400 yards. The ex-QB left the game in 2022. His resume included three Pro Bowl selections, one First-Team All-Pro nod, an Offensive Player of the Year award, and an NFL MVP award in 2015. Skattebo enters the NFL as a 2025 fourth-round pick. He was taken 105th overall out of Arizona State. This past season, Skattebo appeared in 13 games. He rushed for 1,711 yards, averaging nearly six yards per carry. He also caught 45 passes for over 600 yards. Skattebo finished off his final college season with 34 total touchdowns. Whether he takes up Newton's advice to study the history of the game or not, the Giants are optimistic that Skattebo could be a solid young addition to their offense for 2025 and beyond.

George Kittle on 49ers in 2025: 'We have pretty lofty expectations'
George Kittle on 49ers in 2025: 'We have pretty lofty expectations' Show Caption Hide Caption Best NFC 2025 NFL Draft picks USA TODAY's Tyler Dragon breaks down which teams in the NFC drafted the best this year. Sports Seriously Few teams underwent more changes this offseason than the San Francisco 49ers. Just 16 months removed from their second Super Bowl appearance in five years, the 49ers enter the 2025 NFL season with new coordinators on offense, defense and special teams. Technically, two of those coordinators are familiar faces. Robert Saleh returns to the defensive coordinator post he held from 2017 to 2020 and Klay Kubiak has been promoted to offensive coordinator after four years as an assistant. The roster saw some longtime starters depart via free agency. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw, cornerback Charvarius Ward and guard Aaron Banks are all suiting up elsewhere. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel is now in Washington thanks to a trade. San Francisco invested heavily in defense in the 2025 NFL Draft in an attempt to bounce back from a lackluster year in 2024 on that side of the ball. One of the team's stars thinks they'll be back on track in 2025. "We lost some guys and that is obvious, we're aware of that," tight end George Kittle said on CBS Sports HQ on June 16. "But I feel like the way we signed guys in free agency, the way that we drafted, we targeted those holes that we lost. "I'm not going to say we're going to replace All-Pro players, Pro Bowl players immediately but I think we drafted really, really well." He pointed to the near-perfect attendance in organized team activities (OTAs), a voluntary portion of the offseason schedule, as a sign of the commitment from the team. "You get to build that team chemistry." he said. "I think what our goal is is our offense needs to play at a really high level. We brought back basically everybody, which is pretty fun, and when you have Christian McCaffrey, Brock Purdy, Trent Williams, makes me pretty excited to play football." This isn't entirely unfamiliar territory for the franchise. In 2020, San Francisco suffered multiple key injuries and followed their Super Bowl trip with a 6-10 campaign only to go 10-7 in 2021 and make the NFC championship game once again. "We know we have pretty lofty expectations, we always do," Kittle said. "The way that we do training camp, I think coach (Kyle) Shanahan will have those young guys ready to go real quick." 49ers 2025 schedule Another factor that could help the 49ers in 2025 is their schedule. By 2024 winning percentage, San Francisco will face the easiest strength of schedule in the NFL in 2025. Here's a breakdown of their full 18-week schedule: All the NFL news on and off the field. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 25: Shohei Ohtani #17 of the Los Angeles Dodgers reacts after a pitch during live batting practice before the game between the New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers at Citi Field on May 25, 2025 in the Flushing neighborhood of the Queens borough of New York City. Ohtani had ACL surgery in 2023 and hasn't pitched in a MLB game 2024, Ohtani was the team's exclusive designated hitter and had arguably one of the greatest offensive performances in the history of baseball. Ohtani set career-highs in home runs, hits, runs scored, runs batted in, doubles, and stolen bases last season. Ohtani invented the 50 home run, 50 stolen base club as he finished his inaugural campaign as a Dodgers with 54 home runs and 59 stolen bases. In his first postseason appearance, Ohtani won the first World Series title of his career. The Dodgers superstar capped off the season by unanimously winning the National League Most Valuable Player award for the 2024 season, becoming the first exclusive designated hitter to win the accolade. Ohtani was also the first player in MLB history to unanimously win three MVPs. In 2025, Ohtani will return to his "norm" as a two-way star beginning Monday night against the Padres. Manager Dave Roberts revealed Ohtani will likely pitch just one inning, but the excitement for his return to the pitcher's mound is evident. Ohtani is not fully built up and the Dodgers have made it abundantly clear the two-way star will not be rushed in his return despite injuries hampering the rotation. But Monday's game marks the beginning of a new era in Los Angeles. More news: Two-Time World Series Champion, Beloved Member of 1969 Mets, Passes Away For more MLB news, visit Newsweek Sports.
