Time capsule ‘Telstra Ten' prepare to step back in time in iconic moment
It sounds like the beginnings of a joke, however, it is instead the penultimate chapter of a pretty incredible story.
These are just three members of the group who've become known as the Telstra Ten or Time Capsule Ten.
And yes, while it's expensive to be a Telstra customer at the moment, hopefully this story still brightens your day.
All ten were brought back together for a reunion earlier this month, and 7NEWS was there for the first time the group had all seen each other in 40 years.
Jess, Michelle, Vicki, Rachel, Michelle, Amanda, Michael, Corrie, David and Kirsty. All born on July 1, 1975.
In 1985 they were entered into a radio competition, each presumably by a family member, to contribute to a time capsule. Their tenth birthday, July 1, 1985 shared with Telecom (now Telstra's) tenth birthday.
They added letters and gifts into the time capsule, which was sealed on July 1, 1985 at Telstra's then new Adelaide Headquarters on Pirie St.
It sat there until recently and moved at the start of the year when Telstra went to a new building on King William St.
Staff had been maintaining it for the last 40 years, but at the start of the year, they realised they needed to track down the people being all 10 names scribed onto the time capsule.
A national search began, using radio, TV and social media. All ten names were tracked down back in May. Given not all will be able to make the reopening ceremony on July 1, they were invited to a reunion earlier this month.
Their hair a bit thinner, with a few more wrinkles and a bit taller – the occasion could be described as a very happy coming of age.
Air hostess Vicki Nuske, was one of the Telstra Ten, she flew down from Brisbane for the reunion and will return to Adelaide tomorrow.
A country girl from Loxton, she'd normally travel to Adelaide once a year. When she was invited to add to the time capsule, she was picked up in a limo and taken to a lavish dinner with the other nine group members and scenes similar to Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
'Every time that birthday came around, I was always thinking about opening that time capsule on our 50th,' Nuske said
Michelle Warncken, another member of the ten, has kept all the memorabilia from the day.
The telegram invitation, a Telstra magazine with photos of the capsule laying event, the small jumper lay on a table set up at the reunion party photos of the group together in matching jumpers.
They were given new versions of the jumper today.
Another member, David Kyriacou told 7NEWS he's a little different since he put his letter in the capsule.
'Six feet tall, and 90 something kilos, a bit bigger than what I was then,' he laughed.
Nuske also remembers the phone she had to use when she was little, compared to the standard mobile now.
'We had the phone that went zzzzz, it wasn't even a push button phone, you had to dial it and it went to go back, she said.
Tracking the group down wasn't easy, even though the majority of the Telstra ten still live in Adelaide.
Michael Patterson, who runs the Telstra Adelaide office said things have come a long way since the Telstra ten were invited to attend the sealing of the time capsule, by telegram.
'Back then the tech was landlines, telegraphs, faxes, we've evolved and transformed as now there are thing are 6g and are artificial intelligence,' he said.
Tuesday morning they'll open the time capsule here in Adelaide, marking not only each member of the Telstra ten's 50th birthday, but also the 50th birthday of Telstra if you include its beginnings as Telecom.

Michelle Williams fears falling on stage
Michelle Williams is always paranoid about falling when she's on stage with Destiny's Child. The 46-year-old singer and bandmate Kelly Rowland reunited with Beyonce on her Cowboy Carter tour last month, and Michelle spent the entire performance worrying about losing her footing after taking a stumble on TV back in 2004 when the group were promoting their final studio album on BET's 106 + Park. Speaking on Checking In w/ Record Breakers, Michelle said: "I was trying to stay focused because y'all know I still have trauma from falling on 106 + Park. "I need y'all to be my therapist about that too, because every time I perform with the girls, it's in my head: 'Do not fall, do not fall, do not fall.'" To help reduce her risk of falling, Michelle enlisted former Destiny's Child stylist Ty Hunter to cut the fringe off the bottom of her trousers, but jokingly branded him "such a butthole at times" after he took her request to the head of wardrobe for the tour. She said: "Ty Hunter is like, child, we got to cut these fringes off because we do not want Michelle to fall. "I was like, 'Bro, that was between me and you. You didn't have to make no announcement.' But yeah, that's still in my head. Steps do frighten me now." Michelle made sure she rehearsed the steps but still didn't "trust" her footwork. She said: "Did I rehearse them steps? Sure did. "And then when it came to I was like, oh my gosh, you dummy. You let fear or lack of trust [in] on that first step, because y'all, I was like, I'm not gonna let social media do me. I'm not. "Because if that were to happen, and I fell, I would not be able to live that down for the next 20 years. So that's probably the only thing I didn't like, was that I didn't trust the steps." But despite her concerns, Michelle still had a blast when she took to the stage alongside her Destiny's Child bandmates at Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium on 26 July. She said: . "We turned into little girls again, them teenage girls, those younger girls who just wanted to sing, dance and travel the world. And Beyoncé was like, 'Y'all, let's have fun. We just gonna go out here and have fun. Whatever happens happens, but we're gonna have fun.' " "I knew we were gonna have fun. We always have fun. But when you come from Destiny's Child, and then when you see the level of excellence that Beyoncé performs at, you step it up, right?" The trio's first performance together since Beyonce's 2018 Coachella performance saw the Texas Hold 'Em singer disappear beneath the stage as the group's Independent Woman played and when she reemerged, she was in silhouette with her bandmates either side, striking a Charlie's Angels pose. As they walked down the stage catwalk, Beyonce said: "Destiny's Child, b****." The trio then performed their 2005 single Lose My Breath, Beyonce's song Energy, and 2001's Bootylicious.

Lynne McGranger reveals her hilarious plan for her first-ever Gold Logie
In a fitting end to her 33 years starring in Home and Away, Channel Seven icon Lynne McGranger has won the coveted Gold Logie. The 72-year-old was in the running for the top gong at the 65th TV WEEK Logies alongside Sonia Kruger, Ally Langdon, Julia Morris, Hamish Blake, Lisa Millar and Poh Ling Yeow. It is her first Gold Logie nomination and an incredible one to win with her last Home and Away scene as Irene Roberts set to air in August. McGranger also took home the Silver Logie for best lead actress in a drama — her first Logie win. Lynne McGranger accepts Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television. Credit: James Gourley / Getty Images for TV WEEK Logie A 'Wear a pretty dress they said, you will be fine, they said,' an emotional McGranger said, while accepting her Gold Logie. '33 years, I've done this amazing show and I am thrilled and honoured.' 'Before I forget, this is going to be pride of place next to my 1974 Wagga Wagga Drama Festival Best Actress. And it's true, it's absolutely true. That's when I went, 'This acting thing is kind of good!' maybe I will be better at it than I am at teaching. 'I want to acknowledge all of the other nominees, all the beautiful, fierce women of all ages. And I am the eldest! If you live as long as I do, it's fantastic. And of course, lovely Hamish. You are a brave man, darl, thank you. 'I don't know if any of you have caught my press lately — there hasn't been much. But I did promise that if I won the Gold Logie that I would carry it around in my handbag for a year ... which is better than burying my white ass on morning television, Larry! 'So I will do that. And I may regret it. But I also thought what I could do is in a few years' time when I die, I might chop the head off, scoop it out and put the ashes in there and screw the head back on and give it to Clancy, my beautiful daughter, who is here with me tonight, and she can put it on the mantelpiece. 'So there are more ways of using a Logie than just carrying them around in your bag. I want to thank you again my beautiful cast. The beautiful cast! Dear God! And my producers, Lucy and Julie, thank you. To the writers, the art department, the best crew in the art department, the best crew in the world, bar none. Lynne's cast members cheered her on. These guys do this week in and week out and they whinge a little bit, but they are very good at their job. 'And this show has been kept afloat because of the wonderful writers and the wonderful production. Yeah it is a soap but you know what, it gives Australia's actors and crew so much work, and we are so proud of it. 'Thirty-eight years, the bloody thing has been going for. It just won't die. Fantastic. I want to acknowledge again the wonderful exit storyline but I also want to acknowledge the fantastic Jessica Mauboy, who wrote that beautiful song that has been overlaying Irene's exit story. 'And again to the fans, bloody hell! For all of you fans, and those of you who keep free-to-air television alive, please, keep on doing what you're doing, and watching what you watch. I want to thank Paul, Luke and Clancy. I've gone completely rogue with the idiot board. I love you Paul, Clancy, Luke — all my friends. I 'If you are in rural NSW or Victoria come and see me and my fabulous cast in The Grandparents Club. 'Thank you guys, it's a great honour. Thank you.'

Guy Sebastian announces 100 Times Around The Sun Australian tour to play RAC Arena Perth in May
Guy Sebastian is set to embark on his biggest Australian tour yet in celebration of his new album 100 Times Around The Sun, set for release on Friday. The ARIA Award-winning singer will return to stages across the country for an epic run of all-ages shows in support of his 10th album, which took him over four years to create. The tour will kick off in Newcastle on April 16, before stopping off in Canberra, Brisbane, Townsville, Cairns, Gold Coast, Sydney, Wollongong, Adelaide, Perth, Hobart and Melbourne. He will take to the stage at RAC Arena on May 15. Sebastian, 43, was last performed in Perth in 2021 and described his visit as the 'best show' on his last tour. 'I think it's been my biggest single show on one of my own tours I've ever done in my life,' he said from his beloved studio in Sydney. 'I've done big things like singing for Eurovision and the Pope, but I definitely will never forget the RAC show.' Fans can expect a banging set filled with his biggest hits, like Battle Scars, Before I Go and Choir alongside new tracks from 100 Times Around The Sun. The new album is a soul-filled, heartfelt record brimming with optimism, perspective and signature Sebastian power vocals. To create something he was truly proud of, Sebastian realised he had to step away from his coaching duties on The Voice and hone in on his music career. 'I had a fair bit going on just with life, personally and professionally, it took a bit of time to realise I just couldn't do it all and finish the album,' he said. 'So I kind of put the TV stuff away for a while just to give myself the headspace to be able to get creative and stay in that zone. 'I was pretty fussy, I wanted to make sure it was ready to release and be something I was really proud of. 'I feel like I've given everything I could possibly give to this album, as far as my time and my input, and the musicians that I've gathered.' Sebastian's band features a lot on the album, including singers who sing for Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Ariana Grande, a guitar player from Whitney Houston's band and has played with Jay Z. 'I was in musician heaven,' he said. With his last album, Truth, released in 2020, an emotionally deep project, his new one is more upbeat. 'I think on this album, I really honestly just wanted it to reflect joy, like I wanted it just to come back to a place of like, feel good, soul and makes me want to love people more, and makes me want to enjoy life more,' he said. 'It's about my inner circle (of family and friends), that community that has become increasingly important in my life and stopping the pursuit of trying to please everybody. Sebastian is one of Australia's most loved live performers and with more than 1.3 billion global streams, seven ARIA Awards, 82 ARIA Platimun accreditations and six number one singles under his belt. Pre-sale tickets for the tour will be available on Monday at 1pm and through Telstra on Tuesday at 1pm. General public tickets will go on sale from 12pm on Friday.
