'Koi Ladki Pass Nahi Aati Thi': Gulshan Grover On This 'Bad Man' Image On Screen
Gulshan Grover says women avoided him for years due to his scary villain roles — until social media helped show his real personality.
Gulshan Grover has spent decades terrifying audiences on screen, but in real life, his villainous roles had an unexpected side effect — women kept their distance. The actor, who's famously called Bollywood's 'Bad Man," recently dropped by Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi's home for lunch and a candid chat on their vlog. During the visit, the topic turned to how his menacing characters affected people's perception of him off screen — especially women.
When Parmeet asked if his on-screen persona scared women away, Grover didn't hesitate. 'Jab tak social media nahi aaya tha, toh koi ladki pass nahi aati thi because unhe lagta tha jo screen par dekha tha wahi personality has iss aadmi ki," he said.
Grover went on to recall how things slowly shifted after social media became part of the picture. 'Aur jab social media aaya aur when I entered a party, hugged Archana, another heroine saw it and pehle toh unko a Vishwas hua ki film toh bhaag rahi thi aur yahan gale mil rahi hai, yeh kya nonsense hai. Then slowly slowly people understood that he is just doing a role," he explained.
Known for unforgettable villainous turns in hits like Ram Lakhan, Mohra, Sir, Hera Pheri and Duplicate, Grover built a legacy playing the bad guy. His bold performance as the over-the-top antagonist in Ram Lakhan made 'Bad Man" his signature – but also blurred the lines between reel and real for many fans.
Now, thanks to social media, Grover says people can finally see the difference between the character and the man himself.
Gulshan Grover is set to appear next in Heer Express, directed by Umesh Shukla. The film is produced by Umesh Shukla, Ashish Wagh, Mohit Chhabra, and Sanjay Grover. It marks the debut of Divita Juneja, who stars alongside Ashutosh Rana, Sanjay Mishra, Prit Kamani, and Grover in pivotal roles. Heer Express is slated for a theatrical release on September 12.

Peacock Meets Hen, Sparks Fly — But Their ‘Love Child' Steals The Show!
Last Updated: A viral video claiming a peacock and a hen have produced unusual offspring has captured social media's attention, but experts urge caution There is so rhyme or reason as to what goes viral on social media and why. A recent viral video shows chicks hatching from a hen's eggs, with one chick appearing to have vibrant, iridescent tail feathers of a peacock. With bodies shaped like ordinary chicks but flamboyant plumage, this chick has quickly captured the internet's imagination, and the sight has sparked laughter across the internet. While many viewers were entertained, the authenticity of the video is under scrutiny. News18 could not confirm the video's veracity, and many experts strongly suspect it has been digitally manipulated or staged. The most likely explanation? Someone has playfully attached peacock feathers to an ordinary chick to create a funny and shareable clip. Can Peacocks And Hens Reproduce? Scientifically speaking, peacocks (Pavo cristatus) and hens (Gallus gallus domesticus) are entirely different species, making natural crossbreeding virtually impossible. Experts universally agree that such a union would not produce offspring. Although the video is clearly humorous, it highlights how easily manipulated content spreads online. One user quipped, 'Peacock Bhaiya wooed the hen and this is the result! Even nature jokes!", a nod to the absurdity of it all. In an age of deepfakes and advanced editing, it's a timely reminder to question what we see before accepting it as truth. Though meant for entertainment, amid the era of video trickery, we must pause, laugh, and then look closer. Not everything that spreads online is as it seems. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Recently, a Reddit user shared a screengrab of Rampal's 2012 interview in which he had talked about getting intimate with Kareena Kapoor for Madhur Bhandarkar's movie, Heroine. In the interview with Hindustan Times, Rampal had said, 'I enjoyed getting cosy with Bebo. I'm still cherishing shooting those love-making moments with her." Arjun Rampal's Old Statement Shocks Netizens Reacting to Arjun Rampal's old statement, the Reddit user wrote, 'This is so weird and unprofessional". Soon after, several others also reacted to it and expressed disappointment. 'Didn't know that people were this comfortable objectifying back then," one of the netizens wrote. 'I think back then this was a promotional tactic to get people to come watch the movie – saying there is skin show," added another. A third user called Arjun Rampal 'cheap". What Do We Know About Heroine? Released in 2012, Heroine stars Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Randeep Hooda, Mugdha Godse and Divya Dutta among others in key roles. The film revolves around Mahi, an actress, who starts losing projects when her married boyfriend refuses to commit. This impacts her deeply. She slips into depression, which ultimately leads to her downfall. When Kareena Kapoor Opened Up About Avoiding Sex Scenes While Kareena has been a part of the showbiz world for 25 years, she has also largely avoided intimate scenes on-screen. Earlier this year, in an interview with actor and activist Gillian Anderson for The Dirty Magazine, the actress revealed that this has been a conscious choice throughout her journey in Bollywood. 'It's just the way we look at the whole idea. We don't look at sexuality or sex as a human experience. We have to start looking at and respecting that a lot more before we put it on screen. It's my belief," she had said. First Published: August 07, 2025, 09:09 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
