Whyte was dazed and then floored after being hit by a barrage of punches in the opening 90 seconds.
The referee stepped in as the 37-year-old struggled to recover against the ropes to hand Itauma his 13th straight professional victory.
Following the stunning display, Saudi Arabian boxing boss Alalshikh has revealed who he wants to see the rising star face next.
According to Ring Magazine, he wants Itauma's next opponent to be undisputed heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk.

Having taken down Tyson Fury, Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua, Usyk has a taste for cutting British rivals down to size.
Yet while The Cat's other rivals were always bringing a few extra inches of height, Itauma is just two centimetres taller than the 37-year-old.
After Saturday night's fight, Kent-raised Itauma - ranked as the WBO's No1 heavyweight - lifted the lid on his future.
He said: "I thank Dillian, it takes two to tangle and he gave me the opportunity to showcase my skills.

"The team mentioned they want me to get some rounds out. Any of them can happen."

Alcaraz had soared into a 5-0 lead, with Sinner clearly off his game. And after just 23 minutes of play, the No1 seed sat down on his chair and retired from the game, saying he felt like he could collapse. Sinner told trainers and a tournament official: "I cannot move - I feel like I can collapse." He apologised to fans as medics rushed over to treat him. Sinner was heard saying: "I tried, but I can't. I'm sorry for the fans." The 24-year-old cast an emotional figure as he sat down before Alcaraz came over to console him. Speaking after receiving his runner-up trophy, Sinner said: "I'm super sorry to disappoint you. From yesterday, I didn't feel great. 'I thought I would during the night but it got worse. "I tried to come out and make it a small match but I couldn't handle more. I'm very sorry for all of you. Jannik Sinner hugs British music legend before his own mum after winning Wimbledon title against Carlos Alcaraz 'I know some of you on Monday have to work or do something else, so I'm really sorry." The withdrawal has also sparked fears over his participation in the US Open. Sinner is due to play alongside Czech tennis star Kateřina Siniaková in the Mixed Doubles event against Alexander Zverev and Belinda Bencic in the round of 16 tomorrow. The main draw for the men's singles US Open will commence from Sunday. Sinner also congratulated Alcaraz on the victory, which was the 22-year-old's eighth Masters title. He added: "Congrats to Carlos for another title. For sure, not the way you wanted it but it's amazing what kind of season you are producing. "To you and your team, I wish you the best for the US Open and the rest of the season. "To my team, thank you for pushing me every day and understanding me and the situation today. "I'm sorry to disappoint but sometimes it's like this and we have to accept it. "It's been one of the hottest tournaments we have faced, so thank you for all of the support and organisation." Alcaraz admitted it was not the way he wanted to win the game before also issuing an apology. But in a classy gesture, he called Sinner a "true champion" and declared that he would "come back better, even stronger". THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY.. 'Morecambe Football Club, now proudly backed by Panjab Warriors would like to extend its sincere gratitude to Derek Adams for the leadership and steadiness he brought to the club during a testing chapter for the club. 'His return instilled direction and purpose, helping guide Morecambe into League One for the first time in their history and stabilized the team under immense pressure. Fans have been left stunned by the news. One said: "What an awful decision, pathetic." Another added: "That's an awful decision, great start fellas, baffling..." A third commented: "Why sack him? Why not give him a chance to see what he can do? Going to be a big mistake by Panjab Warriors." A fourth reflected: "Part and parcel of new ownership in football, is a change of management. "Under any other circumstance, you'd think the decision would be justifiable, but what the previous ownership put DA through, this is just the wrong decision." Gordon Reid: Wheelchair tennis must keep proving value to close prize-money gap
Reid and his partner Alfie Hewett are preparing for the upcoming US Open, which last week announced a large increase in winnings for the 2025 tournament. But, while mixed doubles champions will now get one million dollars (£740,000) between them, the total pot for all wheelchair players is 1.69 million dollars (£1.25m). Reid and Hewett, who have won six titles at Flushing Meadows, with Hewett also winning four singles titles, have been a big driving force in the improvement in wheelchair tennis. And the Scot knows that needs to continue for the players to be rewarded more financially. 'It's been 20 years since we started, so in terms of the age of the slams themselves, we're obviously very fresh, very new,' Reid told the PA news agency. 'As much as we want to obviously see an increase and the gap in the prize money closing, I think we also need to prove that we're adding something, adding value to the tournament. A post shared by Alfie Hewett (@alfiehewett6) 'Hopefully then those come hand in hand – the opportunities that we get and the prize money. 'So we just have to try to play our part, to entertain as much as we can and hopefully move that direction together.' The US Open is celebrating its 20th anniversary of wheelchair tennis and the British pair want to celebrate by winning their first doubles title there since 2022. They were beaten in the Wimbledon final last month, but know they are heading to a strong surface. 'It will be just trying to produce some of the level of matches that we played for majority of this year, really,' Hewett said about what it will take to win. 'I mean, the final at Wimbledon was the first match we've lost all year in the doubles. 'Obviously it was probably one we wanted to win the most out of all of them as well. 'We've been working on a lot of stuff that in our game that we're going to try and take on to the hard court. 'A lot of it worked pretty well in Australia and absolutely similar conditions.' Reid and Hewett have recently been back at Wimbledon holding a coaching clinic for Play Your Way To Wimbledon – a national competition with regional and county rounds, which sees winners get the chance to play at SW19. 'It's a fantastic event, giving anyone across the country, especially at grassroots level, the chance to play on the grass courts,' Reid added. 'We know how special that is. 'So to get to have that opportunity for so many people is amazing and having all the different inclusive categories is something we love to see.' :: Supported by long time Vodafone ambassadors Alfie Hewett OBE and Gordon Reid OBE, Play Your Way to Wimbledon, powered by Vodafone, aims to make the game more accessible for all and inspire the next generation with the opportunity to compete on Wimbledon's world-famous grass courts.
