Perak among Malaysia's top durian producers in 2024
Saarani noted that from 2017 to 2023, Perak's durians reached over 41 countries, with China accounting for 73% of export value. 'In 2022, Malaysia's durian exports hit RM1.14 billion, including RM887 million to China. Demand for Perak's Musang King, Black Thorn, D24, IOI, and premium durian kampung continues to rise,' he said.
Topone Solution Sdn Bhd (TSSB) played a key role in 2024, exporting 30 containers of durians worth RM20 million, including RM1 million worth of durian kampung and 100 tonnes of durian kampung paste valued at RM5.25 million.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Perak Durian Fest in Dataran Selama, Saarani shared that Malaysia began exporting fresh durians to China on August 24, 2024, shipping 413.61 tonnes worth RM24.84 million. This followed a phytosanitary agreement approved in June 2023, allowing Malaysian durians to enter 16 key Chinese provinces.
'Perak's durian kampung is gaining global recognition, and Malaysia's durian exports are projected to reach RM1.8 billion by 2030, growing at 20-25% annually due to logistics advancements and product innovation,' he added.
The state is now focusing on branding, quality certification, and digital marketing to expand access to its premium durian kampung. Beyond China, Singapore, Hong Kong, the US, and Australia are key markets, with durian kampung priced at RM29 per 600g and Musang King reaching RM400 per 2.5kg.
Local entrepreneurs are also capitalizing on durian's popularity, introducing products like durian chocolates, coffee, cakes, tempoyak sambal, and ice cream, which are now being marketed to China. - Bernama

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 10 (Bernama): Chief Advisor of the Government of Bangladesh Dr Muhammad Yunus will undertake an official visit to Malaysia from Monday until Wednesday (Aug 11 to Aug 13, 2025), at the invitation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. In a statement on Sunday, the Malaysian Foreign Ministry said the visit reciprocates Anwar's official trip to Bangladesh in October 2024, and several advisors and senior government officials will accompany Yunus. The ministry, also known as Wisma Putra, said that Yunus will be accorded an official welcoming ceremony at the Perdana Putra Complex on Aug 12, followed by a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister. "Both leaders are expected to review the progress of Malaysia-Bangladesh relations, particularly in the areas of trade and investment, labour, education, tourism and defence. "The discussions will also include regional and international developments of mutual interest,' the statement said. During the visit, Yunus and Anwar will witness the exchange of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in the fields of defence, energy, strategic and international studies, capacity building in semiconductors, and trade promotion. An Exchange of Notes will also be signed in the areas of diplomatic training and higher education. The ministry said in honour of Yunus and his delegation, the Prime Minister will host an official luncheon at the Seri Perdana Complex. It said that on Wednesday (Aug 13), Yunus is scheduled to deliver a public lecture and be conferred an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Social Business by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The Chief Advisor will also attend a session with members of the Yunus Social Business Centre community and the university network, in a programme jointly organised by UKM. In 2024, total trade between Malaysia and Bangladesh reached RM13.35 billion (US$2.92 billion), an increase of 5.1 per cent compared with 2023. Bangladesh is Malaysia's second-largest trading partner and export destination in South Asia. Major Malaysian exports to Bangladesh include petroleum products, palm oil and chemicals, while imports comprise textiles, footwear, petroleum products and manufactures.
