Oodie launches multi-buy offers on new cooling blanket for hot summer nights

Daily Record20 hours ago
Save money by purchasing more than one of the brand's newest cooling blanket that is "ice cold to the touch."
Brits were sweltering in another heatwave this past weekend. While temperatures are set to get a bit cooler, that doesn't mean it's not still going to be very warm throughout summer.
For those who run hot during the evening, this time of year can be quite difficult to get a good night's sleep. Fortunately, Oodie has come to the rescue with its newly launched Cooling Blanket.
With temperatures set to remain high, the Australian brand has just launched two multi-buy offers across its summer must-have, allowing shoppers to bag them for multiple family members for less.
Working out at £99 for a single-size, the firm is offering 20 per cent off when customers buy two at the same time, reducing the total cost £158.40 instead of £198, meaning both blankets would work out at £79.20 each.
The firm is also offering 30 per cent off when customers purchase three, reducing the total cost to an even cheaper £69.30 each, with the subtotal coming in at £207.90, offering a discount of more than £89 overall.

Both discounts also apply to the queen-size that retails at £129, with the 20 per cent offer reducing a pair to £103.20 each, and the 30 per cent price cut reducing the cost of three to just £90.30 each.
Crafted from a nylon and elastane blend material, the "lightweight" Cooling Blanket is said to boast a Qmax score of 0.32, which means that it is said to be "cooling" and "refreshing" on the skin compared to other fabrics.
Designed to be cool to the touch, its cooling properties allows it to wick away body heat and moisture, allowing it to absorb excess body heat that will help it regulate body temperature, meaning it's suitable for hot sleepers all year round.
While Oodie remains a firm favourite with millions of customers, for some the price remains quite high, even with the discounted prices. For something a tad more affordable, yet still from a trusted brand, we have spotted the Silentnight Restore Cooling Blanket at Argos for £45.
Alternatively, Amazon also offers an abundance of similar items for the summer weather, with this Kouamor Cooling Blanket measuring 150cmx200cm costing an affordable £18.99.
However, what sets Oodie's blanket apart is the selection of fun colours it is available to buy that includes a lilac pastel wave, a simple grey and a multi-coloured check pattern.
Fashion deal of the week
New Balance has just launched a massive sale ahead of the summer, with up to half-price off.
For those who don't want their feet to get sore during the day, the Women's 327 Shoes have earned a glowing reputation from thousands of shoppers, with praise suggesting they are "like walking on clouds."
Usually retailing at £100, these lace-up trainers are now available to purchase for just £60, saving 40 percent and £40 off the RRP.
Initially designed as running shoes that have been inspired by the 1970's, the New Balance 327 boasts an angular reworking of the classic wedge silhouette and an adjustable lace-closure design for a customized fit.
The wraparound, trail-inspired lug outsole makes these trainers a supportive choice for those on their feet all day, whether that be during physical exercise or when out on city breaks during the summer.
As of writing, the 40 percent discount covers three colours - slate grey, bone and raincloud - with sizes ranging from three to eight, including half-sizes, although some are being snapped up fast.
They currently boast a 4.6 rating based on over 3,000 reviews, as one thrilled customer wrote: "Not only do these look good, they're the comfiest trainers I've ever worn! Walked around London for 2 days & I felt like I was walking on clouds!"
A second positive review read: "Walking on Air! They are the most comfortable shoe I've ever had. I've tossed out all my On Cloud's, Nike's & Hoka's. I plan on buying another air for the summer."
Shop the 40 percent discount on the New Balance Women's 327 Shoes online now.
It's already received glowing reviews on Trustpilot, as one shopper praised: "A week ago I received my cooling blanket and let me tell you - its perfect, its really cold when you cover yourself, the pattern is matching my apt and the sewing is exquisite!
"It's a little pricey but if its gonna last at least the 4 years of my [current] Oodies then it's a great price! I definitely recommend buying anything and everything from this site. They have really fast shipping and great customer support."
Someone else praising it wrote: "Got a robe and a cooling blanket. While I didn't really think the robe would be just like the regular Oodie, I still like it. The cooling blanket? TRULY a cooling blanket. Ice cold to the touch and it's great at night. If you guys did regular bed sheets I'd get those too!"
However, someone did find that it didn't stay cool for long, writing: "While being very soft and my partner likes it, it does feel cooler when first going to sleep, just doesn't stay that way for long.
"I was not expecting miracles but gave it a go to try and get a comfortable sleep for both of us. I would still buy from Oodie again as I do like their products."
Although, another extremely pleased shopper added: "Love everything about the Oodie cooling blanket, will be buying more, highly recommend."
Keep cool at night by shopping Oodie's multi-buy offers on its Cooling Blanket now.

Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch on offer for £39 in limited Wowcher deal

The deals website is offering discounts on refurbished Galaxy smartwatches Gymgoers and daily step-count fanatics know that smartwatches can cost upwards of £200, especially for leading brands such as Samsung and Apple. However, shoppers who don't mind choosing an older model can currently buy a refurbished Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch on Wowcher for £39. Samsung's Galaxy Watch Bluetooth 42mm SM-R810 automatically tracks more than 39 types of activities and comes complete with GPS, ideal for runners and those who enjoy long rambles. It's also equipped with a 1.2-inch screen and can track a user's heart rate, sleep rate, and calorie intake. The exact same watch is also on sale at Amazon for £70 however, there is limited availability. Wowcher sells the refurbished watch in two 'grades' - Grade A (minimal wear) is categorised as 'Very Good', and Grade B is 'Good' (light signs of use). Both grades offer fully functional devices, Wowcher says. The £39 option for the Samsung Galaxy Watch Bluetooth 42mm SM-R810 falls into the Grade B group. On Amazon, customers can find reviews of the fitness trackers. One person said: "Replaced a three-year-old edition and really like the new one. Battery life is really, really improved!" The same customer continued: "Functionality remains great. Have not tried Sleep tracking so I did not rate it. The watch has been everything I hoped it would be, could not be happier." Another stated a downside, saying: "Does not work with Samsung Pay, the app is not installed, and there is no Samsung Pay option in the Galaxy Wearable app." Shoppers who would prefer a newer model and don't mind paying the extra price can pick up a Samsung Galaxy Watch7 (40mm) for £239, usually £289. The sale price is available at Amazon and applies to the green and cream colourways. Another premium option is Apple's Watch SE priced at £219. The 40mm watch has PGS and can be used to make calls and send messages, as well as fitness and tracker features. Customers new to Wowcher can find general reviews of the retailer's services on Trustpilot. One user said: "Easy ordering and payment system, no hassle." Another added: "Lots of good experiences at great prices!" Another left a mixed review, noting a downside to the site's userability. They said: "I like the discounts, but it's very confusing trying to redeem."

Soaring asylum costs threaten aid budget, watchdog warns Labour

Immigration is never off the news agenda these days, as Brits remain concerned about the influx of people to the country while the cost of living crisis and housing pressures only seem to worsen. Last week Sir Keir Starmer sealed a 'one in, one out' migrant returns deal with France's President Emmanuel Macron which some number-crunching suggested is a little more akin to an, er, 17 in, one out set-up. The Labour lot have other borders-related problems on their plates too, however, as an independent watchdog has warned that the cost of supporting asylum seekers is set to absorb a whooping one-fifth of the gutted aid budget. Crikey! After Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced in last month's spending review that the aid budget would be slashed – from 0.5 per cent to 0.3 per cent by 2027 – the Independent Commission for Aid Impact has today raised concerns about ballooning refugee costs. Under international aid rules, a portion of the costs of an asylum seeker's first year in the UK qualifies as official development assistance and therefore comes out of the aid budget. As such, the watchdog has also warned about soaring costs of housing asylum seekers in the UK – with the price tag rising from £628 million in 2020 to a staggering £4.3bn in 2023. The surging cost of asylum provision leaves a fraction (0.24 per cent) gross national income for overseas development, the lowest amount of cash available for poverty reduction and humanitarian assistance for 50 years. Another Live Aid, anyone..? By the watchdog's figures, the UK spent three times as much aid per refugee compared to other major European countries in 2023. Perhaps, the report suggests, it's got something to do with 32,000 asylum seekers living in expensive, taxpayer-funded hotels. Well, Reeves has more on this, too. In her spending review, the Chancellor promised to stop using hotels to house asylum seekers by 2029 – claiming the move would save £1bn. The Home Office will instead look to increase the capacity of sites like the Wethersfield RAF base in Essex. Problem solved? Mr S isn't so sure. Quizzed by a House of Lords Committee last month whether he believed the government would succeed in their intention to stop using hotels, independent chief inspector of borders and immigration David Bolt replied: Frankly, I do not think that it will be achieved… There is simply not sufficient housing stock to be able to deal with the sorts of numbers that are in the system… It is really challenging. Oh dear. It would be putting it mildly to say that the slashing of the UK's aid budget has not gone smoothly. Reeves's announcement prompted the immediate resignation of Anneliese Dodds, the minister who was actually responsible for international aid – and former PM Gordon Brown unleashed a scathing tirade about the move during a recent speech in London. Will this latest watchdog warning persuade the government to better tackle the holes in the asylum system? Watch this space…

Rare 'Brexit' 50p coin worth £40,000 could be in your change

The coin needs to be from a specific date to be especially valuable An expert has urged Brits to look out for a rare 50p coin that could be worth as much as £40,000. However, this piece needs to feature one of two specific dates to be especially valuable. Known as the ' Brexit ' coin, this 50 pence piece was minted to commemorate the date that the UK left the EU. This occurred on January 31, 2020. ‌ But, interestingly, a number of these coins were produced with what is now an incorrect date as it had been planned that Brexit would take place the previous year. Therefore, the specific dates you want to find are March 29, 2019, or October 31, 2019. ‌ In a video uploaded to social media platform TikTok, an expert known as the Coin Collecting Wizard explained more. He said: 'So let's start from the beginning. 'This coin is the Brexit 50p from 2020 and as you can see it clearly has the Brexit date at the bottom of the coin. But did you know there is another date out there on this 50 pence and only a few have ever been found? ‌ 'If you find the Brexit 50p coin in your change, which is most likely as millions were minted for circulation, then all you need to do is check the date at the bottom of the coin. If your date says 31st January 2020, then this is just the regular common version worth 50 pence, but if you are super lucky and find one with a date other than 2020, such as this one from October 2019, then you have just found a super rare error coin.' He added: 'And yes it has been known to sell for £40,000. Just be sure you know what you are looking for any date other than 2020 and you have hit the jackpot.' The reverse side of the coin (also known as the tail side) is easy to spot and features the phrase 'peace, prosperity and friendship with all nations'. On its obverse side (head side) you will see the image of Queen Elizabeth II. ‌ It is thought around 1,000 of the March Brexit coins were minted, although most of these were melted down. But approximately one million of the October coins were produced. The majority of these were also melted down when Brexit was delayed again but two surviving coins have since been found. Experts at The Westminster Collection commented: 'While the 31st January 2020 Brexit 50p is an important historical coin, its mintage of over 10 million means it is not particularly rare. In contrast, the 31st October 2019 Brexit 50ps are some of the rarest modern UK coins, with just two known examples in existence—and an estimated value of over £40,000 each, according to numismatic specialists at Spink and Son auction house.' They added: 'With only two known examples of the ultra-rare 31st October 2019 Brexit 50p discovered so far, it raises the thrilling possibility that more could be waiting to be found. Collectors are being urged to check their change - you might just strike gold!'
