Sri Sri remembered on his birth anniversary
Rajamahendravaram: Mahakavi Sri Sri introduced modern literature to a new wave of poetry that burns like fire and transforms letters into sparks, said Dr Y Swarna Sri, an English professor.
Speaking at an event held on Wednesday to mark the birth anniversary of Sri Sri, she praised the revolutionary poet for his unforgettable contributions to contemporary literature.
The celebration was jointly organised by the Department of Telugu at SKVT Government Degree College and the Kala Gowthami Cultural Organisation. Dr Swarna Sri hailed Sri Sri as a poet of the century who deserves to be remembered and revered for generations for his fearless and trailblasing poetic voice.
Principal of the SKVT College Dr DV Ramana Murthy remarked that poetry was the very breath of Sri Sri's life.
Chairing the event, Head of the Telugu Department Dr PVB Sanjeeva Rao said that Sri Sri was a true trendsetter who redefined poetic expression and language in Telugu literature.
Faculty member Palli Sudha said the timeless relevance of Sri Sri's songs, stating, 'Even today, songs like 'Nenu Saitham...' continue to inspire the youth.'
Another speaker, AVND Srinivas said that social awareness and awakening were the lifeblood of Sri Sri's poetry.
Faculty members including G Sharath Babu, K Shanthi, and G Rambabu and former Students' Association president Cheeral Sitarama Naidu were present.

Kuberaa trailer: Dhanush plays a beggar who challenges status quo; Nagarjuna believes in the power of money
Kuberaa trailer:The trailer for Sekhar Kammula's Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh-starrer Kuberaa was released at a pre-release event held in Hyderabad on Sunday. SS Rajamouli was the chief guest. Expectations are high on the film as it's Dhanush's debut in Telugu and Sekhar's second film in Tamil after Anaamika. Nagarjuna states that in this country, money and power work, not ethics or justice, as history has shown. While supportive of Dhanush, he also seems to have a grey side. Rashmika's character seems to be someone whom Dhanush's character has faith in, despite her insisting otherwise. She also believes the rich and powerful will always rule the world. A character even wonders how a beggar threw a whole government into risk. It ends with Dhanush challenging the status quo. The pre-release event of Kuberaa was initially scheduled to be held on 13 June but was postponed after the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. The film's team made the announcement and wrote, 'The pre-release event of Kuberaa, scheduled for tomorrow, has been postponed in light of the tragic Ahmedabad flight crash. We stand in solidarity with the grieving families.' They also added, 'Our hearts go out to all affected by the devastating plane crash in Ahmedabad. We extend our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims. May you find strength in this difficult time.' Kuberaa is slated for release on 20 June and is produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Rammohan Rao of Amigos Creations. The film has music composed by Devi Sri Prasad. Dhanush, who essayed the role of a beggar in the film, recalled shooting at a dumpyard for hours. At the launch of the song Pippi Pippi Dum Dum Dum, he said, 'To see another part of the world, a sight which you're not exposed to... You're always in your comfort zone, like you do only what's convenient, you're protected. I come from very humble roots.' He also said that shooting for Kuberaa took him back to his childhood, 'Today, I'm here by God's grace. I've seen that, and to go back there to see that world again, it was very enlightening and nostalgic. I'm very thankful to this film for so many reasons, but it takes me back to my childhood as well as one of them.'

Shivarama Karantha Award to Shivarama Karantha Award
N.T. Bhat, Baragur Ramachandrappa, and Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar have been chosen for the Shivarama Karantha Award 2025. The award, presented by the Shivarama Karantha Trust, Moodbidri, carries a purse of ₹20,000. Mr. Bhat is a well-known professor of English and German, having translated numerous works from Kannada into English and German. Mr. Ramachandrappa is a writer who is known for his social and intellectual stance. He has authored many research works, novels, poetry collections, short stories, and plays, and is also a creative film director. Mr. Chandrashekhar a professor, novelist, short-story writer, and travelogue writer. He has directed many films which promote social values. He has also made significant contributions to improving the lives of farmers and developing his village school. The trust, for the past three decades, has been honouring those making outstanding contributions in various fields, through the award, a release by Jayaprakash Mavinkuli, general secretary of the trust, said.

This upcoming movie boasts of the ‘biggest' horror set in India at over 40,000 sq ft and features top star as lead
Of late, the Indian film industry has seen a resurgence of horror films that are working wonders at the box office. Take films like Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, or Aranmanai 4. It's easy to hit-and-miss in the genre, but filmmakers are willing to take that chance. One of the upcoming horror films in Telugu boasts not just a top star headlining it but also a sprawling haveli set that the film's team claims is 'India's biggest'. In a press note, the film's team claimed that at the centre of the horror comedy film will be a haveli that's 'unlike anything Indian cinema has seen before'. The set, designed by art director Rajeevan Nambiar, is a massive 41,256 sq ft. According to the makers, the haveli isn't just a backdrop but an 'immersive, living, breathing space' that's a huge part of the story. Towering doors and shadowy corridors can be expected. 'Every detail had to serve the emotion, not just the aesthetics. We didn't want the set to look haunted—we wanted it to feel haunted,' shares Rajeevan in a statement, adding, 'The intention was to build something that starts pulling you in the moment you enter—whether you're a viewer or someone walking through it.' The film's team also noted in the statement: 'Every stone, prop, and shade within the Haveli has been custom-built to elevate the horror. Even the floor has been designed to add an eerie texture to the visuals. This isn't just set design—it's storytelling through space.' The Raja Saab is a horror comedy film starring Prabhas, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan (in her Telugu debut), and Riddhi Kumar. Its teaser will be released on 16 June. Viswa Prasad produced it under People Media Factory. The film will be released in theatres on 5 December in all South Indian languages and Hindi. Thaman S is the music composer.
