RIO NGUMOHA will be hoping to light up Liverpool's season - after shining in pre-season.
The Reds youngster is only 16 but has played a key role in Arne Slot's preparations for the new campaign, including a stunning solo goal on Monday.

The 'second XI' Liverpool team beat their Athletic Bilbao counterparts 4-1 as Ngumoha ran from his own half and curled in from 20 yards out in the second minute.
By the fifth, he had added an assist, too, by nodding a header down for Darwin Nunez before being subbed off to a standing ovation in the second half.
Liverpool poached teenage winger Ngumoha, who turns 17 on August 29, from Chelsea.
The Reds were impressed by his goalscoring performance in the U17 Premier League Cup final win against Wolves in April 2024 - and the Blues could not stop his move to Merseyside.
Angry Chelsea responded by blocking Liverpool scouts from attending Chelsea youth matches.
John Terry wrote at the time: 'This boy is and will be a top player.'
He became the second-youngest starter in Liverpool history aged 16 years and 135 days when they played Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup in January.
Now after his superb pre-season, the former Chelsea academy star could feature in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday - then make his Premier League debut.

Nguhoma expressed his belief he can 'win the Ballon d'Or one day' before even making a senior appearance when he boldly declared: "I want to be regarded as one of the best players to ever play football and be a legend of the game.'
But while the England youth star has a long way to go to realise those dreams, team-mate Andy Robertson is confident the kid will be a nightmare for Premier League full-backs.
Charlie Patino opens up on Max Dowman and his own journey from Arsenal wonderkid to Deportivo
Robertson told The Anfield Wrap: 'He's not bad, is he?
'He's a good kid as well and he's got a fantastic head on his shoulders. Especially when he's got people like Mo [Salah] who can help him so much.
'Obviously that's the last two games now I've played with Rio in front of me and he just keeps on coming on and he's got a hell of a future ahead of him but the here and now looks pretty good as well.'
Gary Gillespie added to LFC TV: 'He is such an excellent prospect. The difficulty is managing expectations but it's hard to put a lid on it."
And Slot beamed: "Rio is showing things every time in pre-season."
But Ngumoha is not the only English teenager hoping to make their mark on the Premier League this season…
Trey Nyoni, 18 - Liverpool
Ngumoha's team-mate Nyoni held the previous record for Liverpool's youngest FA Cup player - and is club's youngest player in European football.
The central midfielder was snatched from Leicester with a tribunal needed - but is now fully focused on adding to his six first-team games for Slot's side.

Max Dowman, 15 - Arsenal
Arsenal fans are getting very excited about "special" playmaker Dowman, who has had to wait to get his Premier League debut as he started last season aged 14.
Premier League rules state players must not be below the Under-16s age group in order to be named in a matchday squad.
But few would bet against Dowman, who impressed in the Far East in recent weeks, following in the footsteps of Arsenal pal Ethan Nwaneri and Leicester's Jeremy Monga last season by starring in the top flight before his 16th birthday on New Year's Eve.

Also eligible for Lithuania and Uganda, he has played across three youth ages for England.

Shim Mheuka, 17 - Chelsea
Mheuka was born in Birmingham, had a spell at Brighton and is now at Chelsea, where the versatile forward got one minute in the Prem but made four appearances on the way to Conference League glory under Enzo Maresca in 2024-25.
Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Nicolas Jackson are fighting for the No9 spot and Mheuka faces a tough battle to get any minutes on the wings.

Ayden Heaven, 18 - Man Utd
Made a high-profile transfer from Arsenal in February and immediately thrown into the first-team set-up by Ruben Amorim.
A strong left-footed defender, Heaven will put his comical own goal against Everton behind him and challenge the senior internationals at Old Trafford.

Harry Amass, 18 - Man Utd
Alongside Heaven, he could be joined by fellow Young Lions star, left-back Amass.
The ex-Watford teen made his senior United debut on his 18th birthday at Leicester in March, played twice in the Europa League final run and could be the future solution to the left-back struggles.

Chris Rigg, 18 - Sunderland
Rigg only turned 18 at the end of June but has already racked up 72 first-team games for Sunderland - including 42 in the 2024-25 Championship season.
The sale of Jobe Bellingham to Borussia Dortmund will give Rigg more of a spotlight and his cheeky backheel Goal of the Month last season proves he has the confidence and talent to make an impact at the highest level.

Harrison Armstrong, 18 - Everton
Liverpool-born midfielder Armstrong has been at Everton since he was five and made his Prem debut aged 17 away at Tottenham last August before a fruitful loan spell at Derby, where he helped keep the Rams up.

Mateus Mane, 17 - Wolves
Mane was in such high demand last season that Portugal and England both called him up at the same time - and the forward chose the latter.

Son Heung-min completes move to Los Angeles from Tottenham in MLS record deal
Son Heung-min has ended his 10-year stay at Tottenham after making the 'hardest decision ever' to leave for Los Angeles FC in a record Major League Soccer transfer. It was revealed on Saturday that Son would depart Spurs following 173 goals in 454 appearances and months after he captained the club to Europa League glory. After an agreement between Tottenham and LAFC was struck for a deal in excess of £20million, the 33-year-old arrived in Los Angeles on Tuesday and a day later he has finalised his transfer, which is the highest fee paid by an MLS club for a player. In a post to Spurs fans on Instagram, Son, who has signed an initial two-year deal with LAFC with options for a further two, wrote: 'How to find the right words for this? I don't know. I have been thinking for days. It's impossible. But here I go. 'It's time for me to say goodbye to Tottenham Hotspur. My home for the past decade. When I arrived in 2015, I didn't speak English, I didn't know London, but you welcomed me with open arms, believed in me, and stood by me through every high and low. 'I was just a boy from Korea with big dreams who was supposed to have no chance. And now, 10 years later, North London is in my heart forever. Dear Spurs fans… Sonny's letter to you 🤍 — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) August 6, 2025 'I've made friends for life here, had the honour of becoming a godfather here, and had the privilege of captaining our special club here. I've poured my heart and soul into this club, which makes this the hardest decision ever. 'I thought if I was ever going to leave, it would have to be on my terms, on the best terms, when our mission had been accomplished together. With pride and honour.' Son joined Spurs in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen. After a tough debut campaign the South Korea captain went on to become one of the club's best ever players and made himself a Premier League great in the process. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Son HeungMin(손흥민)🇰🇷 (@hm_son7) Alongside old partner in crime Harry Kane, Son holds the record for the most goal involvements by a duo in the Premier League, with the pair assisting each other on a record 47 occasions in the competition. The Chuncheon-born attacker also won the league's Golden Boot award in the 2021-22 season after scoring 23 times and he sits 17th in the list of all-time scorers in the division with 127 goals. Under former boss Mauricio Pochettino, Son's consistent displays helped turn Tottenham into genuine title contenders but silverware continued to allude them after a second-placed finish in 2017 was followed by a Champions League runner-up spot two years later. Whilst various members of Pochettino's team left not long after the Argentinian's winter departure in 2019, Son stayed to work under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte before he was tasked with leading a new era by Ange Postecoglou. Postecoglou named Son as his captain in the wake of Kane's high-profile switch to Bayern Munich and Hugo Lloris' departure from the first team and after a roller coaster two seasons under the Australian, they achieved the holy grail together on May 21. Son was consigned to a place on the bench in Bilbao for the Europa League final against Manchester United following an injury-affected campaign, but was introduced to make his final competitive appearance for Spurs to help them win 1-0 and end a 17-year wait for silverware. It etched Son's name into the history books as he became only the fourth captain in Spurs' history to lift a European trophy after Danny Blanchflower, Alan Mullery and Steve Perryman.

It remains unclear whether the hi-tech video equipment has just been mislaid and will come to light once all staff have returned from holiday. But the incident is suspicious enough for the club to have involved the police. Top football clubs like the world champion Blues make extensive use of video footage from training and matches to help players' physical, technical, tactical and mental performance. Chelsea declined to comment about the timing and circumstances of the discovery that the equipment was not where it should be. Benjamin Sesko boasts Cristiano Ronaldo-esque leap set to strike fear in Premier League defenders upon Man Utd move
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) BENJAMIN SESKO is finally making the leap into the Premier League. After choosing Manchester United ahead of Newcastle, the RB Leipzig striker will be delighted if he can make half the impact of another forward known for gravity-defying jumps at Old Trafford, namely Cristiano Ronaldo. 11 Benjamin Sesko is closing in on joining Man United Credit: AFP 11 He possesses an incredible leap Credit: Getty 11 The striker can outjump most defenders Credit: tiktok Play Dream Team now! Eight years ago, when still in his native Slovenia, Sesko posted an incredible video of him flying so high he could kick out at a basketball hoop — the global standard height is TEN FEET or just over three metres. In slow motion, the footage shows him jumping towards the backboard and dislodging a ball from the rim with his foot. This video eventually came to the attention of the recruitment department at Red Bull Salzburg and they started tracking this freak of nature. Aged 16, Sesko would eventually head to Austria. READ MORE ON FOOTBALL 'Sell him at half time' Arsenal fans demand struggling star be AXED after shocking display He spent four years there then moved to Red Bull stablemates Leipzig to become one of the most feared strikers in Europe. Sesko now stands at 6ft 5in and can jump not far off a further four feet, which is extraordinary. He is literally head and shoulders above his peers. United boss Ruben Amorim will utilise Sesko's super-human strength this season to finally help the Red Devils restore their bite in front of goal. Sesko's aerial ability, speed and power make him a real threat. SUN VEGAS WELCOME OFFER: GET £50 BONUS WHEN YOU JOIN He will certainly give defences food for thought — fuelled by plenty of protein. His breakfast consists of FOUR fried eggs, yoghurt with berries, muesli and freshly-squeezed fruit juice. For lunch, Sesko has chicken, rice, carrots and broccoli, with two slices of bread, followed by a fruit salad featuring mango, watermelon and pineapple. Bruno Fernandes branded 'proper captain' for his miserable trophy 'celebration' after Man Utd win Prem Summer Series Dinner is salmon with potato and a tomato and cucumber salad, before finishing the day with yet more muesli, this time livened up with some Quark cheese, cashew nuts, kiwi fruit and blueberries. His approach is bearing fruit, and although Sesko's shot accuracy and conversion rate need to improve with experience, he could be a huge success for the Red Devils over the next few years. It is turning into a nightmare for Newcastle, especially with star striker Alexander Isak looking to leave with Liverpool heavily linked. Meanwhile, the Old Trafford side will get a player who at Salzburg was known as the 'new Erling Haaland', with Manchester City's Norwegian star having made his mark at the club before leaving for Borussia Dortmund. 11 Sesko could lift Man United back to its old heights Credit: AFP 11 He can compete with basketballers Credit: Youtube / RB Leipzi 11 He could be a threat from lofted crosses Credit: Getty 11 His aerial ability has been compared to that of Cristiano Ronaldo Credit: Getty 11 CR7 made gigantic leaps one of his calling cards during his career Credit: AFP Sesko's leap only became famous a few years ago and until he began to flourish in Salzburg, was largely unknown. Yet as he found his feet in Austria, he moved to Leipzig and then started to terrorise Bundesliga defences. Sesko has remained a shy person and rarely gives an insight into his private life on Instagram unlike other players. Right now, you could argue, Sesko's possible future brother-in-law is actually more famous across the UK than him. His girlfriend, Anita, is the sister of Boris who has recently starred on Love Island. Sesko will form part of a new, three-pronged attacking dream team with £62.5million Matheus Cunha and £65m Bryan Mbuemo. The three scored 48 league goals between them last season, which is more than the entire United team managed in the Prem (44). Amorim opting for this line-up would mean skipper Bruno Fernandes dropping back into a deeper midfield role instead of occupying a No 10 spot himself. 11 He will have lofty ambitions at Old Trafford Credit: Getty 11 He was also wanted by Newcastle this summer Credit: Getty 11 Since August 2023, striker Sesko has been the top-scoring player in Europe aged under 23. He has struck 39 times, one ahead of midfield pair Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid and five more than Liverpool new boy Florian Wirtz. After Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich (33) is Rasmus Hojlund with 26 goals. Yet United have been willing to listen to offers for Hojlund, and are ready to accept as little as £30m for the player they paid £64m for in 2023, although the Dane still wants to fight for his place in Manchester. Born just a few months before Sesko in 2003, Hojlund still has work to do but it might not be the worst thing for United — if they can afford to keep him — to allow him to grow alongside Sesko. You could see why joining Newcastle would have been a good option for Sesko. A side featuring in the Champions League this season and one where he could become a hero. Yet United are the biggest club in England and while they are not in European competition this term, their time will come again. With his three-pronged strikeforce and the genius of Fernandes pulling the strings behind them, Amorim's men could be a force in the Premier League this season. And United's fans, like Sesko, could be jumping for joy.
