How Canada U-19 beat Argentina U-19 after batting for just 5 balls in 50-over game

The game of cricket often witnesses many skewed match-ups and dominant wins, and one such mind-boggling result transpired when the Canada Under-19 side bowled out Argentina Under-19 for just 23 runs before chasing down the target in just five deliveries during Match 4 of the ICC Men's U19 Cricket World Cup Americas Qualifier 2025 on Sunday.
Batting first, the Argentina Under-19 side was skittled out for 23 in 19.4 overs by the Canada Under-19 side at the Param Veer Sports Complex (Ground 2) in Georgia. In an astonishing show while chasing 24, all Canada took was just five deliveries to finish the game with 10 wickets and 49.1 overs remaining. Opener Dharm Patel started the innings with a single before skipper Yuvraj Samra finished things off in the next four deliveries, all for boundaries. Argentina's Franz Bur, who bowled five deliveries and gave away three extras in wides, was hit for two fours and as many sixes by Samra as Canada won with 295 balls remaining.
For Argentina, not a single batter reached double figures, with as many as seven of them recording ducks in this innings, and out of the 23 runs which they scored, seven came from extras. The wrecker in chief for Canada was bowler Jagmandeep Paul, who recorded an astronomical figure of 5-3-7-6 which had three maidens.
The Argentina vs. Canada match did not have Youth ODI status; otherwise, Canada would have set several records after their 10-wicket victory. In Youth ODIs, the lowest team total ever recorded is Scotland's 22 against Australia in the 2004 Under-19 World Cup. On that occasion, Australia chased down the target in just 3.5 overs, a record that still stands for the fastest chase in terms of overs remaining in the format.
USA's Atlanta is hosting the ICC Men's U19 Cricket World Cup 2026 Americas regional Qualifier from 7 to 17 August, where Argentina, Bermuda and Canada are playing apart from USA. It is a double round-robin format where the top team will book their place as the Americas regional representative at the ICC Men's U19 Cricket World Cup in Namibia and Zimbabwe.
Sixteen teams will contend for the ICC Men's U19 Cricket World Cup between January and February 2026 across five venues in Zimbabwe and Namibia. Teams will be split into four groups of four teams each will compete in the Group Stage, followed by the Super 6, ending in the semi-finals and Final.

How Canada U19 won a 50-over game vs Argentina after batting for five deliveries

Cricket often throws up one-sided contests, but few have been as lopsided as Canada Under-19's demolition of Argentina Under-19 in the ICC Men's U19 Cricket World Cup Americas Qualifier 2025. Canada Under-19 produced a ruthless display to defeat Argentina Under-19 by 10 wickets, completing the chase in only five deliveries, during Match 4 of the ICC Men's U19 Cricket World Cup Americas Qualifier in Georgia on Sunday (10 August).advertisementAt the Param Veer Sports Complex (Ground 2), Argentina won the toss and batted first but were dismissed for 23 in 19.4 overs. The innings never recovered from early setbacks, with none of the batters reaching double figures. Seven were dismissed without scoring, and extras accounted for seven of the runs, making it the top contributor in the innings. Fast bowler Jagmandeep Paul led the Canadian attack with an outstanding spell, taking six wickets for seven runs in five overs, including three maidens. His new-ball burst left Argentina reeling, and the rest of the attack maintained pressure to finish the innings inside 20 overs. Chasing 24, Canada wasted no time in wrapping up the match. Opener Dharm Patel took a single from the first ball of the innings, before captain Yuvraj Samra struck the next four deliveries from Franz Bur for boundaries - two fours followed by two sixes. Bur also conceded three wides in the over, taking Canada past the target with 49.1 overs unused and 295 balls to the match did not carry Youth ODI status, the scale and speed of the win were remarkable. Had it been an official Youth ODI, it would have challenged the record for the quickest run chase in terms of overs remaining. That record currently belongs to Australia Under-19, who in the 2004 Under-19 World Cup chased down Scotland's 22 in 3.5 result keeps Canada in a strong position in the Americas Qualifier, which is being held in Atlanta, USA, from 7 to 17 August. The competition features Argentina, Bermuda, Canada and hosts USA, with each side playing the others twice in a double round-robin format. The top team will secure the Americas region's only place at the 2026 ICC Men's U19 Cricket World 2026 edition of the tournament will be staged in Namibia and Zimbabwe between January and February, with 16 teams competing across five venues. The teams will be split into four groups for the initial stage, followed by the Super Six, semi-finals and final.- EndsMust Watch
