
CPM protests in Trichy after farmer killed in wild boar attack
On Monday, M Ganapathy, 70, of Uthamarseeli village, was attacked by a boar near his farm, suffering severe abdominal and hand injuries. Another farmer, Sahadevan, was injured in a separate attack near Kilikoodu. Ganapathy died at the GH on Thursday.
Protesters refused to allow Ganapathy's autopsy until relief was assured. Officials, including Trichy forest range officer V P Subramaniyam, Srirangam RDO Srinivasan, and Tahsildar Selva Ganesan, assured recommendations for ₹10 lakh compensation to Ganapathy's family and ₹50,000 medical aid to Sahadevan.
The activists also demanded that wild boars in Andanallur villages be captured and preventive measures taken. Following the assurance, the autopsy was carried out, and Ganapathy's body was handed over for final rites in the evening.

Another man killed after being hit by Thar in Delhi's Moti Nagar; 2nd incident in 6 days
NEW DELHI: A 40-year-old man was killed after being hit by a Thar in west Delhi's Moti Nagar area, police said on Saturday. 3 women among 5 militants arrested in Manipur; arms and ammunition seized
IMPHAL: Five militants, including three women, were arrested by security forces in Manipur's Thoubal and Imphal East districts, police said on Saturday. According to a police statement, four active cadres of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba) were apprehended from Langthabal Khunou in Thoubal district. They were identified as Konjengbam Babita (45), Lisham Premika Devi (33), Nandeibam Noni Devi (53) and Heikham Ravi Meitei (38). In a separate operation, an active cadre of the PREPAK (PRO) outfit, Chabungbam Kenedy Singh (21), was arrested from Soibam Leikai in Imphal East district. Meanwhile, security forces also recovered arms and ammunition during a search at Ngariyan Chingyang in Imphal East on Thursday. The seizure included a 12-bore double-barrel gun, an INSAS LMG, an SLR rifle magazine, and 47 cartridges. During Independence Day celebrations on Friday, governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla said continuous security operations are being carried out in fringe and vulnerable areas to curb extortion-related activities. 1 killed, several feared trapped in Bengaluru plastic godown fire
BENGALURU: A man died after a major fire broke out at a plastic mat godown in Ulsoorgate, central Bengaluru, in the early hours of Saturday, police said. The blaze, which started around 3am, gutted the warehouse and left the victim charred to death. Officials said three more people are suspected to be trapped inside the premises.
