USA Today10-07-2025
Every day from now until the start of training camp, we're counting down our 30 Most Important Ravens for the 2025 season.
The Baltimore Ravens are gearing up for the 2025 NFL season, which features plenty of new and returning faces within the organization. Several players, coaches, and front-office members are crucial to the team's success this season.
Every day from now until the start of training camp, we're counting down our 30 Most Important Ravens for the 2025 season. We'll recap their 2024 season, look ahead to 2025, and tackle the most significant question facing them this year.
Next up is Andrew Vorhees, a talented third-year offensive guard who'll look to finally carve out a starting role after losing his battle to Patrick Mekari following an ankle injury that cost him two games in 2024.

Position: OL
Age: 26
Experience: 3rd-year pro
2025 cap hit: $1,055,528
2024 recap
Patrick Mekari took his talents to Jacksonville, leaving a void at left guard. Vorhees was the initial starter at left guard in 2024 before suffering an injury and getting benched in favor of Mekari for Weeks 4 and 5, before the move was made permanent.
2025 outlook
After Baltimore completed minicamp, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh confirmed that Andrew Vorhees and Ben Cleveland will compete for the starting left guard job during training camp. In his second season, Vorhees had a 57.2 grade according to PFF and a run block grade of 56.1, which ranked 100th out of 136 qualified players.
Biggest question: Can Vorhees develop into an efficient starter at right guard?
Baltimore's roster has few holes, and competition will be fierce for several key positions that will start to take shape during training camp in late July. After missing all of his rookie season with a torn ACL, the 2023 seventh-round pick played 268 snaps in 2024, earning a 57.2 PFF overall grade. He'll enter this season as the weak link on an offensive line primed to put Derrick Henry in position for a 2,000-yard rushing season.

Aaron Glenn: Jets won't be trading Breece Hall

When it first became clear that the new-look New York Jets will be using a three-man approach to the running back position, speculation emerged that former workhorse Breece Hall could be traded. The Jets are still trying to put that talk to an end. 'We have like three good running backs, and I keep saying that,' coach Aaron Glenn told reporters on Tuesday. 'Listen, they all have different skill sets that we're gonna utilize. And that does not mean that I'm trading Breece. OK? Does not. So, I'm gonna say that right now. I just like having three good guys. Hell, I wish I had more. But we don't.' Hall, a second-round pick from Iowa State, made a quick splash as a rookie. He had 116 rushing yards in an upset over the Packers at Lambeau Field, one week before suffering a season-ending ACL tear in the second quarter of a game in which he already had 72 rushing yards. Hall returned in 2023 to rush for 994 yards, with another 591 receiving yards and nine total touchdowns. Last year, he had 876 rushing yards, 483 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns. He's listed as the starter, with Braelon Allen at No. 2 and Isaiah Davis as the third-stringer. Hall has a base salary of $3.4 million in 2025, the last year of his rookie deal. Scattered rumors have emerged of potential interest in Hall. Some have popped up recently. As the Jets tell it, he won't be going anywhere. Obviously, however, there aren't many truly untradeable players. If someone makes the Jets the right offer, it's possible that they'd accept it.

Short-handed Fever suffer another blow as Sophie Cunningham sustains season-ending injury

The injury-riddled Indiana Fever suffered another blow Tuesday when they announced guard Sophie Cunningham would miss the rest of this season with a knee injury. She was hurt during Sunday's victory at Connecticut. Team officials did not provide details about the injury, the third season-ending one Indiana has experienced in August. Guard Sydney Colson tore the ACL in her left knee on Aug. 7 in a game at Phoenix. Guard Aari McDonald broke a bone in her right foot in the same game. And two-time All-Star guard Caitlin Clark still has not played since injuring her right groin in mid-July. Coach Stephanie White has not provided a timetable for Clark's return other than to say the Fever hope that Clark returns before the regular-season finale Sept. 9 against Minnesota. With so many key players out, the outspoken Cunningham played a key role in helping Indiana stay in the playoff mix. She was averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals. Indiana also announced it has signed Shey Peddy to a seven-day hardship contract. The six-year veteran was averaging 5.0 points and 2.7 assists in six games with the Los Angeles Sparks. She also has played with Phoenix and Washington during her career. The Fever also released guard Kyra Lambert.

Tyjae Spears injury: What Titans RB injury means for team, Tony Pollard, Cam Ward

Tennessee Titans coach Brian Callahan announced that running back Tyjae Spears will miss "some time" with the ankle injury he sustained in the team's Aug. 9 preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, setting him back for the start of the season. "Spears is expected to miss some time here, a couple of weeks at least," Callahan said the morning after the game. "We're waiting on some final word on a few things, but he will definitely miss some time." Spears limped off the field and had to be carted into the locker room midway through the second quarter of the game in Tampa Bay, coming up hurt after catching a third-down screen pass. The Tennessean spotted Spears leaving the stadium on crutches and wearing a walking boot on his right foot. The Titans were critical of the field conditions in Tampa before and after the game, citing how clear it was that the grass had just been laid down and that the seams in the sod were visible. Injuries limited Spears throughout 2024 as well, when he missed five games. Without Spears, veteran Tony Pollard figures to earn the majority of the Titans' top running back reps, with veteran Julius Chestnut and rookie Kalel Mullings as the likeliest candidates to fill in behind Pollard. More Titans injury updates: Lloyd Cushenberry, L'Jarius Sneed, T'Vondre Sweat Callahan said it's possible that center Lloyd Cushenberry III will get some reps in a return-to-play basis during this week's joint practices against Atlanta, marking his first time in uniform since he injured his Achilles tendon in November. Callahan didn't commit to a timeline for Cushenberry's recovery but said he's encouraged by the development. Cornerback L'Jarius Sneed is not expected to return to practice this week, per Callahan. He's still "in the same process" and is coming along well, per Callahan. Though the coach said he feels Sneed is making progress and in a good spot as he recovers from offseason knee surgery, he said he's not as optimistic about Sneed making his return-to-play move this week as he is about Cushenberry. Defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat is recovering from a tonsillectomy and is expected to return to team activities in the coming days but might not return to the practice field this week as the Titans are giving him time to recuperate from the surgery. Rookie safety Kevin Winston Jr., is questionable for practices this week as the team continues to manage new injuries and soreness associated with his recovery from ACL surgery last fall. The Titans are trying to be patient with Winston, especially with veterans Xavier Woods, Amani Hooker and Quandre Diggs also in the safety group. Offensive lineman Blake Hance should be good to get back to practice soon, per Callahan. Nick Suss is the Titans beat writer for The Tennessean. Contact Nick at nsuss@ Follow Nick on X @nicksuss.
