Birthplace of Pandit Murmu will become a pilgrimage site: CM Mohan Charan Majhi
Addressing a function on the 120th birth anniversary of Pandit Murmu at Mahuldiha in Mayurbhanj district, the chief minister said the burial place of the great Santali poet will also be developed as a heritage memorial.
The chief minister also announced that there will be a year-long statewide celebration of centenary of the Ol Chiki script developed by Pandit Murmu. An international seminar will also be organised in the capital city of Bhubaneswar for promoting Santali language.
The chief minister announced a package of Rs 50 crore for promotion of the Santali language along with establishment of an Ol Chiki library at Baripada. Concerted efforts will be made to popularise all the works of Pandit Murmu, and Heritage Bhavan will be constructed in his name.
Describing Pandit Murmu as a cultural icon and a movement in himself, the chief minister said the Ol Chiki script is a symbol of pride for the Santali tribe. 'The Ol Chiki script has revolutionised Santali identity. Language is not just a tool for communication. It fostering education and unity, ' the CM said.

Export of mobile phones jumps 127 times in a decade: Govt
New Delhi: India has witnessed a phenomenal surge in mobile phone exports, which have risen 127 times in the last decade from just Rs 0.01 lakh crore in 2014-15 to Rs 2 lakh crore in 2024-25, the Parliament was informed on Wednesday. Officials credited this remarkable growth to the reforms and policy measures introduced under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' vision, which transformed India into a global hub for electronics manufacturing. The production of mobile phones has jumped from Rs 0.18 lakh crore in 2014-15 to Rs 5.5 lakh crore in 2024-25 -- marking a 28-fold increase, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha. During the same period, the number of mobile manufacturing units expanded from just two in 2014 to over 300 in 2025, a rise of 150 times. As a result, India, once dependent on imports to meet nearly three-fourths of its mobile phone demand, now imports a negligible 0.02 per cent of the total units sold. Overall electronics production has also grown six times in the last decade, from Rs 1.9 lakh crore to Rs 11.3 lakh crore, while exports of electronic goods have surged eight times to Rs 3.3 lakh crore in 2024-25. The government attributed this turnaround to flagship schemes like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) for large-scale electronics and IT hardware, the Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMC and EMC 2.0), the Scheme for Promotion of Manufacturing of Electronic Components and Semiconductors (SPECS), and the Public Procurement (Preference to Make in India) Order 2017. These initiatives have generated an estimated 25 lakh direct and indirect jobs in the electronics sector across India. Maharashtra alone hosts 85 supported manufacturing units, two common facility centres and one electronics manufacturing cluster under the Ministry's schemes. The government also highlighted the role of Digital India and Skill India programmes in equipping youth with digital skills. In Maharashtra, over 53 lakh people have been trained under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA), including nearly 6 lakh from Scheduled Tribes, while initiatives like FutureSkills PRIME and drone technology training programmes have further expanded employability opportunities.

Allahabad HC quashes Abbas Ansaris conviction in hate speech case
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Prayagraj (UP), Aug 20 (PTI) The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday quashed the conviction of Mukhtar Ansari's son Abbas Ansari in a 2022 hate speech case. Justice Samir Jain set aside a special MP MLA court order sentencing him to two years' rigorous imprisonment. The special court in Mau convicted Abbas and sentenced him to two years' imprisonment in the speech case on May 31. Abbas moved the appellate court which rejected his challenge on July 5 following which he moved the high court for the relief. He was punished under Sections 153-A (promoting enmity among different groups) and 189 (threat of injury to a public servant), Section 506 (criminal intimidation) and Section 171F (undue influence or personation at an election) of IPC. He was also slapped with a Rs 2,000 fine. Abbas' election agent, Mansoor Ansari, who was present on stage during the speech, was also convicted in the case and sentenced to six months in jail. The then MLA of Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party from Mau Sadar assembly constituency allegedly threatened state government officials of consequences if Samajwadi Party came to power after the 2022 assembly election. 'I have told Akhilesh bhaiya (former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav) that after formation of the government, there will be no transfer or postings of bureaucrats for six months. Everyone will remain where they are. First there will be hisab-kitab (scores to be settled), only then will transfer take place," he allegedly said in the speech. He won the 2022 assembly election by over 38,000 votes from the Mau seat. Online gaming bill: Nazara Technologies and Delta Corp shares take a hit

The contribution to PAT by Moonshine as share of profit and loss by associate is negative in Q1-26," Nazara shares of Delta Corp also reacted to the development. The stock dropped 6.47% to a low of Rs 87.24 on the BSE in morning trade.
