
M&S issues major online shopping and delivery update for customers after crippling cyber attack
The posh retailer has reintroduced a selection of third-party brands on its website including Adidas, Columbia and Lilybod.

Shoppers can also buy Girlfriend Collective, New Balance, Asics and Under Armour branded items.
Meanwhile, the high street giant has reduced its standard home delivery wait times from 10 days to five for customers in England, Scotland and Wales.
The retailer's website says home delivery in Northern Ireland will resume "in the coming weeks".
Click and collect, next day delivery and UK nominated day delivery for fashion items are still unavailable with services set to be restored "as soon as possible".
The update comes as M&S emerges from a crippling cyber attack that first struck in April.
The incident saw click and collect services across UK stores go down, as well as customer information stolen.
The group suspected to be behind the cyber attack is known as "Scattered Spider" - a notorious cyber criminal-collective.
M&S has said it expects disruption from the attack to continue into July.
At the end of May, boss Stuart Machin also said in an interview with The Daily Mail he "went into shock" after first learning of the attack.
He also compared the financial toll from the attack to the recent hike to employer National Insurance Contributions, national minimum age and added costs associated with new environmental packaging rules.
Speaking to The Sun, he admitted hackers had dealt a heavy blow to its turnaround but was confident of weathering the storm.
He described the decision to switch off online orders as 'chopping off the threat at its knees' and said he realised 'that we had to go through the pain to come back later".
He called the early stages of the crisis as going into 'survival mode'.
And he added the chaos of the last month had been 'a challenging time — but it is just a moment in time".
Co-op and Harrods also targeted
Co-op and luxury retailer Harrods were also hit with hacking attempts in May.
Co-op was forced to shut down part of its IT system following the incident.
The retailer told staff at the time it had "taken proactive steps to keep our systems safe".
However, it later emerged a "significant" amount of customer data was stolen, including personal information such as names, dates of birth and contact information.
The retailer said members' passwords, credit card details and transaction information were not leaked.
Harrods shoppers meanwhile were warned it had "restricted internet access" after the attempted breach left some customers struggling to pay.

End of student digs! Third of those going to university now live at home to save money
Almost a third of university students now live at home while studying as many are unable to afford rent, new data reveals. Figures from admissions body Ucas show 30 per cent of 18-year-olds who applied for the 2024/25 academic year said they would be living at home rather than in student accommodation. This compares to just 14 per cent in 2007, and 21 per cent in 2015. The change is likely down to the soaring cost of living and an expansion of students from less wealthy families going to university. Rent in some university towns can reach as much as £1,000 a month, and many families are unable to help out financially. A typical student leaves university with debts of £53,000, including tuition and maintenance loans. Jo Saxton, chief executive of Ucas, said the high cost of studying away from home could be stopping youngsters pursuing the best course for them. She told the Sunday Times: 'If students choose to stay at home during their studies because it's the best course or institution for them, or because of caring or family responsibilities, of course that's the right thing, but more needs to be done to ensure the cost of living doesn't become a limit on young people's ambition.' Separate data showed large variation between universities. Glasgow Caledonian University has the highest rate of home-dwelling students in the UK, accounting for 45 per cent of its intake, according to Ucas. By comparison, 1 per cent live at home while studying at Oxford and Cambridge, which famously provide three meals a day and room cleaning in the colleges. Ben Jordan, director of strategy at Ucas, said: 'If you drive along any motorway in September, you will see car after car full of duvets, pots and pans, and clothes as students head off to university for the first time. 'However, this stereotypical view of a literal journey into higher education isn't the case for everyone and far more students now live at home during their studies than you may think.' In 1984-85, only about 8 per cent of young first-degree entrants were living at home, according to a report released in 2020 by the now-defunct Higher Education Funding Council for England. The proportion of stay-at-home students began rising in the 1990s, which coincided with the introduction of tuition fees in 1998. Fees now stand at £9,250 a year, due to increase to £9,535 next month. A report from the Higher Education Policy Institute last year found the maximum maintenance student loan of £13,348, which is only paid to those from low-income families, is now less than the average annual student rent in London of £13,595. In contrast to old-fashioned student 'digs' with shared showers and toilets, student accommodation blocks are now run by private companies and are often aimed at a high-end market. For those on a budget, living with parents who can help out with meals and washing is an attractive alternative.

Chansiri is facing growing calls to quit, with a deepening financial crisis seeing players and staff go unpaid on time for the third month in a row. Hundreds gathered before kick-off at the King Power Stadium to vent their anger over months of financial turmoil, waving placards quoting Chansiri's own promise – 'If the fans want me to sell, I'll sell' – alongside: 'Stick to your word, Dejphon Chansiri.' Elon Musk's Tesla applies to supply electricity to households in Great Britain
Elon Musk's Tesla is gearing up to launch a household electricity supplier in Great Britain in the coming months. The US electric car manufacturer run by the world's richest man has formally applied to the energy regulator for Great Britain, Ofgem, for an electricity supply licence, according to a notice published on its website. This would enable Tesla, which also runs an energy supply business in the US, to provide electricity to domestic and business premises in England, Scotland and Wales as soon as next year. It can take Ofgem up to nine months to assess an application. The business is expected to be branded Tesla Electric and could focus on supplying electricity to consumers who own Tesla products such as cars or batteries. However, it would not work for households on dual fuel contracts because the company is only applying for an electricity licence. Tesla Energy Ventures, the company's Manchester-based energy subsidiary, made the application last month, and the move was first reported by the Sunday Telegraph. The application was signed by Andrew Payne, who has worked for Tesla since 2016 and runs the company's energy business in Europe, with responsibility for a team of 60-plus. The move comes at a time when Tesla's electric car sales across Europe have been falling. Sales of Teslas in the UK more than halved last month, according to data from the main industry body. Only 987 new Teslas were registered in the UK in July - down almost 60% on the 2,462 registered in July 2024. This means Tesla's UK market share shrank to 0.7% in July, from 1.67% a year ago. For 2025 to date, Tesla sales in the UK were 7% lower. This is a period during which Musk has faced heavy criticism for his relationship with Donald Trump, which has now soured, and his interference in politics in Germany, France and the UK. Tesla has sold many home storage batteries called Powerwalls that can be charged by solar power or from the grid at off-peak times to UK households. It also sells home chargers for electric cars. It allows Tesla owners to charge their cars cheaply and pays them for selling surplus solar power or electricity stored in its home batteries back to the grid.
