FWICE President BN Tiwari demands Diljit Dosanjh's ‘Sardaar Ji 3' makers adhere to Indian laws amid controversy

Time of India25-06-2025
FWICE president BN Tiwari has urged the CBFC to withhold certification for Diljit Dosanjh's 'Sardaar Ji 3' due to Pakistani actors' involvement. Amid India-Pakistan tensions, Tiwari warned of bans and demanded filmmakers follow Indian laws, sparking social media backlash against Dosanjh's collaboration with Pakistani artist Hania Aamir.
BN Tiwari, president of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), has voiced strong objections to the trailer of
Diljit Dosanjh
's upcoming Punjabi film 'Sardaar Ji 3', which stars Pakistani actress Hania Aamir.
He has appealed to the Central Board of Film Certification to withhold approval for the film amid the controversy.
FWICE's Formal Request to CBFC
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has formally requested the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Chairperson to deny certification for 'Sardaarji 3' because the film features Pakistani actors.
The letter reads, "On behalf of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), we earnestly request that the Central Board of Film Certification refrain from granting certification to the film "Sardaarji 3," as it involves participation by Pakistani actors Hania Aamir,
Nasir Chinyoti
, Daniel Khawar, and Saleem Albela.
In light of recent directives issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (l&B Ministry) prohibiting Pakistani-origin content and collaboration with Pakistani artists in Indian productions, and the parallel stance adopted by'FWICE, we urge CBFC to align with these directives and national interest considerations before proceeding with certification..."
BN Tiwari's Statement
In a conversation with ANI, BN Tiwari said, "We had already written a letter to the censor board stating that this film should not be censored because it's not just Hania Aamir there are 3-4 other artists as well, because of which this has become a big issue. But we have heard they are releasing the film elsewhere, outside of India. If they do this, then we will ban them and their producer forever. White Hill, jo production company, hai aur khud Diljit Dosanjh kisi aur film mein kaam nahi kar paayenge kisi aur producer ke saath jo unki aane vaali filmein hai mai sabko letter likhunga kyunki nation first jo hamare federation ka sidhant hai usse hum hat nahi sakte"
Background: Rising Tensions Between India and Pakistan
The controversy erupted following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which was succeeded by India's Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir with airstrikes.

In the aftermath, several Pakistani artists, including Hania Aamir, found their social media accounts blocked in India due to heightened tensions.
He continued, "When there were attacks in Pahalgam, not only the people who died, but also the families of many people, whose wives and mothers are still alive, vo ek ek din mar rahe hai..Aur mujhe aesa lagat hai ki jo is baat pe tayaar ho mai Pakistan mein release kar dunga foreign country mein release karunga, vo hamare liye desh drohi see kam nahi hai aese logon kje khilaaf federation kya pura Hindustan tayaar hona chahiye.
. letter mai Home Ministry see lekar ke....PM House take letter jaayega ki aese producers jo paise ke liye desh ke saath khilvaad karte hai unhe bilkul Hindustan mein welcome nahi kiya jaayega.."
Strong Warning from FWICE President
Tiwari asserted that the makers have to abide by the rules and regulations of the country, "I have come to know that Diljit Dosanjh is also one of the producers...manmaani to nahi chalegi. If you want to work in the film industry, you will have to follow the rules of India...And
we will send a letter to everyone, not to release any of their films in the future...mai kehna chahunga ki abhi bhi waqt hai aap is film ko rok dijiye.
..Stop this film. Follow the laws of the country. Money is not as important than the country...Apologise to the country because you are hurting the sentiments of the people. And no artist can play with sentiments."
Social Media Backlash Against Diljit Dosanjh
After unveiling the trailer for 'Sardaar Ji 3', featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh encountered widespread criticism on social media. He shared the horror-comedy's preview on
Instagram
Monday, revealing the film's exclusive overseas release date as June 27.
The singer captioned the trailer post, "Sardaar Ji 3 releasing 27th June OVERSEAS only. FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN."
Public Reaction
Indian netizens quickly flooded Dosanjh's social media comments with anger and disappointment over his collaboration with a Pakistani artist amid strained India-Pakistan relations. One user on X expressed harsh criticism, stating, 'May we witness the most embarrassing downfall of Diljit Dosanjh in the history of public embarrassments... a kind of downfall that his PR could never salvage.' While the 'Sardaar Ji 3' trailer is currently unavailable on YouTube India, Diljit has shared it on his Instagram page.

Viral: Woman Shares Hack To Keep Dal Warm While Eating, Internet Is Not Impressed

Food is the universal language that brings people together. However, some dishes are best enjoyed only when they are adequately warm. Whether it's a steaming hot bowl of soup or a perfectly grilled steak, the joy of eating is often ruined when our food gets cold during the eating process. A woman recently shared her hack for keeping dal warm while eating, but it got a lukewarm reception from foodies. In a video shared on Instagram, the woman was seen eating dal and chawal. After eating a spoonful of dal, she realises that it has gotten cold. Instead of warming it up on the stove or microwave, she removes the gas burner stand and brings it to the table. The woman sets up a tealight candle and places the burner over it. As the gentle flame warms up her dal, she can savour every spoonful without making several rounds of the kitchen. The side note read, "Best trick to keep your food hot while eating." Kabir Khan says censor board wanted to cut Om Puri's 'Jai Shri Ram' dialogue from Bajrangi Bhaijaan: 'People loved that'

Director Kabir Khan has opened up about a key moment during the release of his 2015 blockbuster 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', revealing that the censor board wanted to remove the dialogue 'Jai Shri Ram' from a crucial scene. Speaking at the eighth edition of The Indian Express's Expresso, the filmmaker shared how he fought to keep the line in. He recalled a particular scene set in Pakistan where the late Om Puri's character, a maulana, says 'Jai Shri Ram' to Salman Khan's character, who is hesitant to say 'Khuda Hafiz'. Kabir explained, 'And Om Puri's character, without batting an eyelid, says 'Jai Shri Ram' and the censor actually asked me to cut that. I asked why and they said that Muslims won't like it.' He responded with, 'I said 'Sir, what's my name? I don't mind it at all.'' Kabir also recalled watching the film on opening day, which was Eid. 'I get gooseflesh thinking of it now. And the censors though they will not like it.' He added, 'I feel you have to stick to what you believe in and at the end of the day, it's goodness, why won't people like it? As I said, sometimes, the gatekeepers come in and stop that but the people don't. People loved that, people loved whatever we were showing in that film, the politics behind it.' When asked if he could make 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' in today's political climate, Kabir said, 'If the film still gets love, then it means that somewhere it hit home. I feel it's the gatekeepers who sometimes draw these limits.' 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' is a 2015 drama directed by Kabir Khan, centred around Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi (played by Salman Khan), a devout Hanuman bhakt who embarks on a heartwarming journey to reunite a lost mute Pakistani girl, Munni (Harshaali Malhotra), with her family across the border. The film explores themes of love, humanity, and unity beyond religion and nationality. Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays a Pakistani journalist who joins Pawan on his mission, while Kareena Kapoor Khan stars as Rasika, Pawan's supportive love interest. With its emotional storytelling and strong performances, 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' became one of India's highest-grossing films and won widespread acclaim for its message of compassion and hope.
