Blockbuster Yankees Trade Prediction Brings Notorious Yankee Killer to Bronx

José Ramírez has long been a thorn in the New York Yankees' side. He has hit .332/.394/.560 against the team in his career.
The Yankees released DJ LeMahieu when they moved Jazz Chisholm Jr. back to second base. That leaves Oswald Peraza and Jorbit Vivas as the primary third base options. Neither player has shown they can do much offensively, and SNY's John Harper predicted the Yankees would trade for Ramírez to fill their third base need and make a World Series run.
"Outbid by the (New York) Mets for (Eugenio) Suarez, a desperate (Brian) Cashman swallows hard and sends a big package, including Spencer Jones, to get a difference-maker at third base in Ramirez, the Guardians' perennial All-Star," predicted Harper. "As beloved as Ramirez is in Cleveland, he turns 33 in September, with three more years on his contract. And with the Guardians going nowhere this season they may see this as a chance to reload, depending on how highly they regard Jones, the Yankees' power-hitting outfield prospect."

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - JULY 13: José Ramírez #11 of the Cleveland Guardians hits an RBI sacrifice fly in the eighth inning against the Chicago White Sox at Rate Field on July 13, 2025 in Chicago, Illinois. MoreRamírez has been with the Cleveland Guardians franchise since the start of his career. He signed a seven-year, $141 million deal in 2022 and will not be a free agent until 2029. He has a no-trade clause, but perhaps he would be willing to waive it to try and win a championship.
Ramírez is hitting .295 with a .869 OPS this season. He was also named an All-Star for the seventh time this year. Not only would Ramírez solve the Yankees' woes at third base, he would likely make them favorites in the American League.
A lineup headlined by Ramírez and Aaron Judge, with other former MVPs like Cody Bellinger, Paul Goldschmidt and Giancarlo Stanton, would be a nightmare to pitch against.

CC Sabathia's car breaks down on way to Cooperstown for Baseball Hall of Fame induction
CC Sabathia's 19-year Major League ride toward baseball's Hall of Fame appears to have been a smoother one than the actual drive he made to Cooperstown for this weekend's induction. Heading to Cooperstown with his family for Sunday's festivities, Sabathia's car apparently broke down on the side of the highway, leaving the New York Yankees great and his family temporarily stranded. Sabathia posted a photo (with laughing emojis) on X, formerly Twitter, of himself, his wife Amber and their children on July 24 at 8:22 p.m. Sabathia posted the words: 'Car broke down on the way to Cooperstown. Anyone headed that way?' The road sign in the photo showed Route 17 West in upstate New York. Sabathia later posted at 11:02 p.m. that he and his family made it to Cooperstown: And on Friday, July 25 at 10:47 a.m., Sabathia posted a photo of the Cooperstown grounds where he will be speaking Sunday: This article originally appeared on CC Sabathia car breaks down on way to Cooperstown for Hall of Fame induction

Caitlin Clark rookie basketball card sells for record $660,000
July 25 (UPI) -- A Caitlin Clark rookie card sold for $660,000 at auction, setting a record for the priciest women's sports card in history, Fanatics Collect announced Friday. The sale of the 1 of 1 Caitlin Clark Flawless Logowoman broke the previous mark of $366,000, which also was set by a Clark card -- her 2024 Prizm Gold Vinyl 1/1 rookie. The latest card's sale price is nearly double the value of Clark's four-year, $338,056 contract with the Indiana Fever. The Fever guard inscribed the card with her autograph and the words "769 pts and counting," a reference to her rookie scoring total from 2024. The card also features the WNBA patch from one of her uniforms. Clark, 23, averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game through her first 13 appearances this season. The two-time All-Star logged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game over 40 appearances during her Rookie of the Year campaign. Red Sox Turned Down This Star-Studded Padres Offer for Jarren Duran: Report
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Boston Red Sox need starting pitching at this year's trade deadline. They could also be looking for a first baseman, but pitching seems like the biggest priority. The Red Sox could be looking specifically for a pitcher with club control. They have Jarren Duran available as a trade chip if they want to deal him. Between Roman Anthony, Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu, Duran seems like the odd man out. Duran was an All-Star last season, has multiple seasons of club control and would be an upgrade for some contenders, even with his decline. The Red Sox are not going to trade him for cheap, but apparently, it will take a huge return to get him. According to MassLive's Sean McAdam, the Red Sox turned down a star-studded package from the San Diego Padres. PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - JULY 21: Jarren Duran #16 of the Boston Red Sox runs the bases after hitting a solo home run during the first inning of a game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens... PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - JULY 21: Jarren Duran #16 of the Boston Red Sox runs the bases after hitting a solo home run during the first inning of a game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park on July 21, 2025 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. More"The Padres, in their never-ending quest to acquire Duran, proposed a package involving Cease, catching prospect Ethan Salas and another prospect (not shortstop Leo de Vries) for Duran, which was quickly rejected," McAdam reported. Salas is the No. 2 prospect in the Padres organization and No. 21 overall prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. Cease has been a Cy Young Award candidate multiple times in his career, but he will be a free agent after the season. The Red Sox seemingly want a pitcher they can slot in next to Garrett Crochet for more than just this season before having to pay him. If Salas, Cease and another prospect were not enough, Duran could send up staying in Boston due to a high asking price. More MLB: Yankees Trade Idea Ships Out Jasson Domínguez for Royals All-Star
