Kaizer Chiefs: New signing and R28.5 million striker
Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has hinted that the club could still make several signings before the transfer window closes in September. So far, Amakhosi have announced seven new signings for this season. Head coach Nasreddine Nabi has assessed most of the new players during the team's pre-season camp in the Netherlands last month. This past weekend, Kaizer Chiefs played their first Betway Premiership match and managed to edge out Stellenbosch FC 2-0 in Athlone to extend their unbeaten run against the Cape side. 'Let me just say that if an opportunity presents itself that is worth it, we will take it,' Kaze said. 'We still have a foreign spot, but we will not fill it up just because of filling it up. 'If an opportunity is worth it we will probably take it,' he added. This week, Kaizer Chiefs announced the signing of former Cape Town Spurs winger Asanele Velebayi. The attacker joined for free following a despute from his previous club. Etiosa Ighodaro has been the subject of transfer speculation, with Chiefs reportedly interested. The Nigerian striker is valued at around R28.5 million by Transfermarkt. Mamelodi Sundowns are not looking to loan him but are prepared to offload him for the right price.
