Joe Swash insists 'we all make mistakes' as he gets candid about rows with Stacey Solomon and admits 'being with me can't be easy'
Joe Swash has opened up on married life with Stacey Solomon, as he insisted that they make mistakes and have arguments just like everyone else.
The EastEnders star, 42, and the TV presenter, 35, tied the knot in 2022 and share children Rex, five, Rose, three, and Belle, two, while Stacey is mum to sons Zachary, 17, and Leighton, 12, from previous relationships and Joe is dad to son Harry, 17.
The couple recently opened the doors of their beloved home, Pickle Cottage, for cameras to film a 'Kardashians-style' TV show, titled Stacey & Joe, focused on their family life.
And they have been open about showing both the ups and the downs, explaining that they weren't 'trying to portray a glamorous lifestyle'.
In a new joint interview with The Sunday Times, Joe got candid about the pair's rows, confessing that they 'make mistakes' and that they do get into arguments, but 'generally for the right reasons'.
He said: 'We haven't got all the answers. Our kids throw tantrums just the same as everybody else's. We argue, but it's generally for the right reasons — because we're trying to sort out what's best for the kids and our family.
'We aren't trying to portray a glamorous lifestyle. Bringing up a family these days isn't easy and we all make mistakes. But you admit your mistake, learn from it and move on.'
The soap star went on to praise his wife for all she does, admitting she was the one that ran everything and that 'without her, the house would fall apart.'
Joe confessed: 'I know that being with me can't be easy. I was on my own for years and lived like a student, eating takeaways, only doing the washing up when I ran out of plates. Stacey has organised me and the kids and the whole thing.'
The couple's openness about their tough times comes after the real reason behind their 'row in the street' five months ago, was reportedly revealed.
In November, Stacey was seen being comforted by her reality TV crew as she attempted to hide her appearance in a long brown padded coat after what looked like an argument.
Recognising the famous couple, an onlooker claimed they saw Joe storming down the road outside Westcliff on Sea train station in Essex while furiously puffing on a vape after the row.
At the time they revealed to The Sun: 'Joe came out of a building on his own and stormed off down the street, he looked upset and was sitting on some steps for a while.
'Stacey came out of the building in tears and she looked really emotional, she was hugging someone.'
This weekend, almost half a year later, The Sun reported that the reason behind the argument was an emotional conversation during a couples therapy session, with the clash set to air as part of their fly-on-the-wall documentary series on Tuesday.
According to the publication, Stacey booked a session at the Henry Centre in Westcliff Essex to help support Joe following his diagnosis of ADHD.
In a conversation with counsellor Natalie Corbett, Joe allegedly says: 'All I am doing is trying to dedicate myself to my family and do everything I possibly can, every minute of the day.
'Then to sit here and listen to the fact that I am a huge problem — all I am hearing is that I am a huge problem in Stacey's perfect life.'
Stacey is said to respond: 'I would say this is our biggest issue in our whole relationship. I cannot say anything without you taking it so personally as an attack on you as a whole person.'
The upcoming episode will then see Stacey and Joe will sit down and discuss what they thought of the therapy session after the argument, reports the publication.
Consisting of six episodes, an instalment of the docuseries airs every Tuesday and the most recent one shared a sneak peak of what's still to come.
An exasperated Joe shared a tense moment with Stacey, as the pair clashed in a first look at their couple's therapy session.
'You fail to recognise anything that I'm saying to you,' Stacey says, while Joe responds: I've heard nothing but negative stuff.'
During the most recent episode, Joe opened up to his sisters Casie and Shana about going to therapy alongside taking medication for his ADHD.
He said: 'I'll do a couple of sessions, Stacey wants me to go and then see what happens. I'm not too overly keen on the whole therapy bits.'
While his sisters pointed out it would be 'helpful', he replied: 'I'm going to do it, I told you I'm going to do it, I'm just not looking forward to that bit'.
In a previous episode, Joe opened up about his ongoing struggles with ADHD.
He said: 'Being a kid, I don't think ADHD back then was even recognised, so I had ADHD and a touch of dyslexia, so I really got tarred with the brush of being a naughty kid.
'I feel like I sort of invented this character to sort of protect myself a little bit, just making people laugh.'
During a candid scene in the couple's kitchen Joe reflected on experiences throughout his life, recalled: 'When I was a kid and when I was at school, I wasn't a bad person, I wasn't a bad boy.
'I was just misunderstood and I always had to pay the consequences for it because no one understood that it was coming from a different place,' Joe revealed.
Stacey shared that she had been researching counselling options to help her husband, while Joe met with a psychiatrist and decided to look into medication too.
Looking back at his appointment, Joe shared: 'It was nice to speak to him, because he understands the ins and outs of what's going on.
'It's opened up a little box of worms for me where it goes a little bit deeper than I thought it would go.'
He appeared to tear up as Stacey commented: 'I do know what you mean, and I do understand and I know that's hard to revisit and I know that's difficult to think about but ultimately you're a good person Joe and you're not able to be your best self at the moment.
'You don't deserve that to be happening to you at this point in your life, you've worked too hard, you've given too much love to your family.
'This is about getting back on your feet and staying consistently in a place where you feel comfortable, safe, loved. Do it for yourself, you deserve better than how you've been living, Joe.'
Joe wiped away tears and Stacey supportively embraced him before adding: 'I love you.'

Kerry Katona found love on Celebs Go Dating after heartbreak as age gap shared
Former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona, 44, confirmed her break-up from Ryan Mahoney, 36, in November last year but it's claimed she's now found love again Kerry Katona had reportedly found love on Celebs Go Dating after her split from ex Ryan Mahoney last year. The former Atomic Kitten singer, 44, confirmed her break-up from Ryan, 36, in November last year. He then moved out of their shared house, bringing to an end their six-year romance. After her split, she enjoyed a holiday in Thailand, where she said she had experienced a "real spiritual awakening". She recently said about her single life: "I'm not heartbroken anymore and feel like I know that Ryan wasn't the one for me." And now, it has been reported she has moved on with a personal trainer, Paolo Margaglione. According to reports, Paolo is 33 and "neither of them is bothered by the age-gap" "Kerry looks better than most women half her age at the moment, and is young at heart," a source told The Sun. "Paolo thinks she's super sexy and has told all his mates that he is the lucky one. "Meanwhile, Kerry loves the fact that she has a younger man again." The Mirror have reached out to Kerry's reps for comment. According to his social media page, Paolo is a father of two who works as an online personal trainer. After her holiday in Thailand, Kerry revealed to New Magazine: "I'm now working on creating my own relaxation package here at The Beach Samui Hotel, where people will be able to book a week-long holiday. "I'm a single woman and am in the best relationship of my life, which is with myself. I know people do things like dry January and diets, but I don't drink much anyway and like to work on myself every day, so I'm not into any of that." Earlier in the year, Kerry hinted that the split wasn't just due to a 'breach of trust' as she seemingly revealed there to be more behind their decision. Taking to Instagram, she shared a cryptic video, stating that people shouldn't settle for another individual who makes you "guess where you stand with them." The TikTok clip, originally posted by American date and relationship coach Natalie Bell, hints at relationships being one sided. In the clip, Natalie said: "I hope you never settle for somebody who makes you guess where you stand with them. I hope you find somebody who never makes you question your worth, or wonder if you're asking for too much, and who never makes you feel like they're half in, half out. "I hope you find somebody whose actions are match up with their words. Who makes you feel like love isn't just a guessing game or a battle? You have to continue to fight to be chosen. I hope they not only treasure you when things are going well, and it's easy to love each other. I hope they choose to charter you even when life gets hard. "I hope you get to be with somebody who makes you feel like you're their favourite thing. I hope you never have to sit awake at night overanalysing, overthinking, and ruminating over something that they said."
