Coronation Street showdown in ITVX streaming release as new ‘couple' revealed

Metro2 days ago

This article contains spoilers for tonight's Coronation Street which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.
A Coronation Street family was at war in recent scenes after one sibling made a controversial choice in romantic partner.
Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) has only been back on the cobbles for five minutes, and already he's causing chaos.
During an afternoon trip to the Rovers, Jason got chatting to Danielle Silverton (Natalie Anderson) and soon bought her a drink – unaware that she was Theo Silverton's (James Cartwright) wife.
Danielle was left devastated earlier this year when she discovered that Theo had been cheating on her with Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), with the revelation that he was gay tearing the family apart.
Though Theo has made the effort to keep things friendly for the sake of the kids, Danielle hasn't been so receptive of his olive branch.
In tonight's episode, it became clear very quickly that Danielle knew who Jason was, and was using him to get at Theo.
When Jason and Danielle emerged into the living room where Theo, Todd and the rest of the family were gathered, Danielle was clearly smug at having slept with Jason.
As Jason insisted that he hadn't known who she was, Danielle gloated about her conquest, before pointing out to Theo that it wasn't nice to feel humiliated.
With Danielle gone, the fireworks were far from over, as Todd laid into his brother for his mistake. More Trending
Defensive, Jason argued that he hadn't been the one to steal Danielle's husband, leaving Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) to furiously jump in.
Meanwhile, Theo chased after Danielle, who made it clear that she was done with him completely by dumping his wedding ring down the drain.

There's an unmissable swashbuckling period drama to add to your watchlists, as viewers will soon be able to watch the entire show for free. Starring Derry Girls alum Louisa Harland, the swaggering 18th-century period drama Renegade Nell found a dedicated fanbase when it was released last year on Disney Plus. Harland plays a young widower turned highwaywoman robber, who has some special superpowers to boot, and all eight episodes will soon be available to binge on ITVX. When she's framed for a murder in Tottenham, Nell is forced on the run with a ragtag group while the elites in the upper echelons of English society have twigged on to her powers she is forced to save the country. Nell is helped by a miniature Nick Mohammed, of Ted Lasso and soon-to-be Slow Horses fame, as the mystical sprite Billy Blind. The show is from the mind of Happy Valley writer Sally Wainwright – who is clearly no stranger to writing indomitable female leads – and directed by Sex Education's Ben Taylor, so the combined result is a show with superb production value. Better yet, Renegade Nell was previously behind the Disney Plus paywall but will be streaming on ITVX from Sunday, June 22 – just in time for a weekend binge. However, be warned: the show has already been cancelled by Disney – even with a score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes – so might be best not to become overly attached to the characters. When the axe was officially announced, Disney Plus released a statement to Deadline, reading: 'We're incredibly proud of the world created by Sally Wainwright and lead director Ben Taylor. 'We'd like to thank them, our production partners at Lookout Point, the entire cast – led by Louisa Harland – and crew for their incredible work on this series, all of whom we hope to work with again in the future.' The cancellation was made all the worse because director Ben Taylor told RadioTimes the second season was already being written when the first was released, adding that they were working a time jump into the show. Viewers who have come late to Renegade Nell have already expressed their disappointment that they won't be able to return to this world. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), @Crowbarella wrote: 'I seem to have this habit of finding awesome shows after they've already been canceled. #RenegadeNell.' More Trending 'Continuing my Cancelled Shows tour I've just started Renegade Nell on Disney Plus and one episode in my kids and I have found it utterly thrilling, funny, tragic, surprisingly and, above all, super entertaining,' wrote @alundpughe. 'Very much recommended!' @AnthonyShannon2 wrote: 'Finished Renegade Nell on Disney Plus and it was quite terrific. 1 of the most thrilling things I've seen in quite a while. 'Period storytelling of a highly imaginative quality headed by the truly phenomenal Louisa Harland. Hope there will be season 2…' View More » Renegade Nell will be available to stream on ITVX from Sunday, June 22. Got a story? Coronation Street star rules out reunion for much-loved couple

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Coronation Street fans got their hopes up last week when two former lovers sat together in the Rovers. After watching the scenes, fans took to social media to point out how Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) seemed to be getting on well, and wondered if a reunion may be on the cards. Viewers will recall that Asha and Nina dated for quite some time, but they ultimately went their separate ways when Nina kissed Asha's brother, Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain). Unfortunately for speculating fans, this betrayal is something that actress Tanisha Gorey suspects Asha would be unable to come back from, as she explained when I caught up with her at the British Soap Awards. 'I love Mollie and I love Asha and Nina. I think their differences are what bring them together and I think they're amazing together. I love them. 'However, the pathetic kiss that Nina and Aadi shared, I just think Asha couldn't come back from that, purely based on you've not only cheated but you've cheated with her brother. Her twin brother! I'm like, no. It's a big no go. That's it – done, blocked.' She went on to explain that she'd like to see them as friends, but she doesn't think they'd work as a couple given their history. In terms of another romance, Tanisha admitted that she isn't sure what the future holds for Asha. 'I don't know where Asha's love life is leading right now. She's a career woman and she's saving lives. Maybe not on screen but she's saving lives in the background and she's trying her best.' Earlier in our chat, we joked about how Asha was often on the scene when major characters met their maker, having failed to save both Mason Radcliffe and Craig Tinker this year alone. More Trending This has gained her an hilarious nickname, she revealed, as we tried to work out if Asha had actually managed to save anyone on-screen yet! 'Being a student paramedic, everyone calls me the Grim Reaper now. I get it, I get it! But it's good. View More » 'We can say I've saved people off screen. Coronation Street star teases new arrival for one family after plea from fans

Coronation Street's Betsy Swain actress Sydney Martin is very aware about fans' hopes for a new addition to the Swain family, and she's completely backing it for the ITV soap If one Coronation Street favourite gets her way, and viewers, there could be a new addition to the ITV soap. One family in particular could be about to get a new arrival, one cast member is hoping, but who could it be? The family in question is the Swains, amid them forming quite the dynamic with Carla Connor and her household. ‌ But could the infamous Swain cat, teased by Betsy Swain in a past scene and then called for by viewers, finally make an appearance? Betsy actress Sydney Martin certainly hopes so, telling The Mirror at the British Soap Awards all about it. ‌ While she joked about the origins of the potential feline, which may or may not exist, Sydney confessed she would love to see a cat make an appearance. Her co-star Cait Fitton, who plays Betsy's pal Lauren Bolton, agreed and even offered to play cat sitter. Sydney shared: "Where is the cat? I mentioned a cat and I'm feeling now that it may have been a metaphor. I said something like she loves the cat more than me, so where is the Swain cat? "I hope one day it makes an appearance." Cait then backed this saying: "We can get a cat. We can bring it onto set and go there's the cat." In terms of what to call the hypothetical pet, we suggested Bauren - the name Cait and Sydney gave their characters Betsy and Lauren's budding friendship. Rather hilariously, Cait thought we said "Warren" so that could be the winner here. The actress is very keen to help look after the Swain cat though, while she did point out a potential problem. Offering to cat sit for the family, she said: "I'll cat sit unless Frankie is allergic to cats, cos then I can't." As we later spoke with Sydney about the growing family dynamic with Lisa, Betsy, Carla and others, Sydney vowed it would keep "growing". ‌ Of course the hypothetical cat was mentioned once more, with her saying: "It's growing... and a cat. I haven't forgotten the cat." Sydney also praised Corrie boss Kate Brooks for developing strong families and friendships, which she said was key to the ITV soap. Speaking of her own onscreen family, she shared: "It's a beautiful dynamic and it works so well." Asked what was ahead for her character, Sydney confessed she doesn't even ask bosses what's on the way. She joked: "We don't ask we just go with the flow, it's like 'what are we doing next week?'." With the crossover with Emmerdale coming up too, Cait reckons Lauren wouldn't fit in in the Dales, but she'd love to see Cain Dingle have it out with David Platt. Cait also revealed that the stuff with Lauren and Betsy almost didn't happen. Corrie boss Kate added it into an episode as a trial run not knowing what to expect, but soon it proved to be a hit and Kate "loved it".
