Dar arrives in Kabul for trilateral FMs' meeting
He is accompanied by SAPM/Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq, and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In a press release issued today, the Foreign Office (FO) said that during the meeting, discussions will be held on enhancing cooperation between the three countries especially in trade, regional connectivity and counter terrorism domain.
The deputy PM will also hold a bilateral meeting with the Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan to discuss bilateral matters between both countries.
During the last meeting held on May 21, the three sides reaffirmed trilateral cooperation as a vital platform to promote regional security and economic connectivity.
The leaders discussed enhancing diplomatic engagement, strengthening communications, and taking practical steps to boost trade, infrastructure, and development as key drivers of shared prosperity.
They also agreed to deepen Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation and extend the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to Afghanistan.

China, Afghanistan hold talks on mining, Belt and Road participation
KABUL: China told Afghanistan on Wednesday that Beijing was keen on exploring and mining minerals in Afghanistan and wanted Kabul to formally join its Belt and Road Initiative, the Afghan Taliban foreign ministry said. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is visiting Kabul and held talks with Afghanistan's acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, the ministry said in a statement, adding that both countries wanted to expand cooperation in a range of areas. Beijing will continue to support the Afghan government to achieve long-term peace and stability, Wang told Muttaqi, according to a readout of the meeting released by China's foreign ministry. China is willing to deepen political mutual trust with Afghanistan and step up cooperation in areas including trade and agriculture, Wang said. He called on Afghanistan to combat militant forces, adding that tighter security ties would provide a guarantee to bilateral economic cooperation. Pakistan, Afghanistan, China hold first trilateral talks

Photo : Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar landed in Kabul today for the first formal trilateral meeting between China, Pakistan and Afghanistan in two years. Dar was accompanied by Pakistan's former ambassador in Afghanistan Mohammad Sadiq. The three countries made commitments to combat terrorism and deepen collaboration in areas of health, education, culture, drug trafficking, and also offering Afghanistan an extension to CPEC, according to Foreign Office. In a statement released by the Afghan Foreign Ministry 'Pakistan was urged to uphold the rights of Afghan refugees residing in the country and Ishaq Dar expressed determination to further expand trade with Afghanistan.' There was an emphasis on combating terrorism by Dar, 'he highlighted a recent surge in terrorist attacks inside Pakistan perpetrated by groups operating from Afghan soil, urging the Afghan authorities to take concrete and verifiable measures against entities such as the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA)/Majeed Brigade,' according to a statement released by the Foreign Office. The Afghan delegation reiterated their commitment to ensuring that Afghan territory is not used by any terrorist group against any other nation. Afghanistan and China had held bilateral talks earlier that day where they discussed economic cooperation. According to a tweet by the Afghan Foreign Ministry, 'Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi presented his practical proposals regarding the expansion of economic cooperation between Afghanistan and China, particularly in the areas of transportation cooperation, banking relations and balancing trade.' Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, currently doing a South Asian tour, is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad to co-chair the 6th Pakistan-China foreign ministers strategic dialogue on 21st August.
