Motorcyclist killed in crash with lorry in Rasa

HULU SELANGOR: A 39-year-old man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in an accident with a lorry at Jalan Industri Zuhrah, Rasa, last night.
Acting Hulu Selangor police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Asri Mohd Yunus said the victim succumbed to his injuries and died on the spot in the 10.25pm accident.
Asri said preliminary investigations showed the victim was heading to Bukit Beruntung from Kuala Kubu Baru.
"Upon reaching Jalan Industri Zuhrah, a lorry suddenly exited from a junction on the left and entered the victim's path.
"The motorcyclist was unable to avoid the lorry and crashed into the front right side of the vehicle," he said in a statement today.
The victim's body was sent to the Forensics Department of Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital for a post-mortem.
The 36-year-old lorry driver escaped the accident unhurt.
Asri said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
He urged anyone with information about the accident to contact the Hulu Selangor district police or visit the nearest police station to assist with the investigation.

She added that the 43-year-old driver is in police custody to assist the investigation, but is expected to be released on police bail. "However, investigations are ongoing and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," she said in a statement today. Yesterday, three students from IKBN Jitra branch were killed in an accident while returning home on two motorcycles to celebrate Aidiladha tomorrow. The victims have been identified as Muhamad Habil Mohd Sobri from Gurun; Muhammad Fahmi Mohd Jamel from Jeniang, Sik; and Muhamad Arif Aifan Derani from Bukit Selambau, Sungai Petani. Another victim, Muhammad Adib Aiman Mohamad Hasan, 19, who was riding pillion on one of the motorcycles, sustained serious leg injuries and is being treated in Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.

ALOR SETAR, June 5 (Bernama) -- Three students from the Jitra National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) were killed in an accident involving two motorcycles and a car at Kilometre 49.4 on the North-South Expressway (southbound) near here today. Kota Setar police chief ACP Siti Nor Salawati Saad said they received information about the accident at 2.10 pm, involving two motorcycles – a Yamaha 135LC and a Yamaha Y16ZR – and a Naza Citra car. She said the dead were identified as Muhamad Habil Mohd Sobri from Gurun, Muhammad Fahmi Jamel from Jeniang, Sik, and Muhamad Arif Aifan Derani from Bukit Selambau, Sungai Petani. Another friend, Muhammad Adib Aiman Mohd Hasani from Subang Jaya, Selangor, was injured. "The accident is believed to have occurred when the Yamaha 135LC motorcyclist lost control and crashed into the rear of a car that had stopped in the emergency lane. Another motorcycle, trailing behind, was unable to avoid the collision and crashed into the first bike. "In the crash, two motorcyclists and one pillion rider died at the scene, while another individual was injured. The car's driver and passengers were unharmed," she said. She said that the bodies of the three victims, all 19, were sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) for post-mortem. "The injured victim was sent to the same hospital for treatment. The Malay language daily reported that in the 2,10pm incident, all the victims were on two motorcycles, travelling back to their respective hometowns to celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha. All the victims, aged 19, are believed to have collided with an multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) before the fatal accident occurred. The deceased have been identified as Muhamad Habil Mohd Sobri from Gurun; Muhammad Fahmi Jam from Jeniang, Sik; and Muhamad Arif Aifan Derani from Bukit Selambau, Sungai Petani. Another friend sustained serious injuries due to the collision. Sinar Harian reported that the bodies of all three victims have been sent to the Forensic Department of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) here for further action.
